Re: The Coaching Career of Elias Scott (CH2k8)

It was a cold January afternoon when Clyde Weston’s secretary buzzed him and said “I’ve got Dale Cramer -senior board member on line 2 holding”. Clyde says “I’ll take it and no interruptions while I’m on the line please.”
A few moments later Dale speaks…

Dale : Clyde I think we have a situation.

Clyde: Oh yea? I was not aware of anything.

Dale: You’re aware of the basketball team winning 4 of their last 6 games. You know the basketball team that was supposed to be buried after this season?

Clyde: Listen… It’s only 4 games. Let’s not over think the situation

Dale: Over think the situation?! We hired a guy to lose 26 games. We hired a guy to pin the downfall of the program on. The situation is they’ve won nearly as many games this year as they have in the past few years combined. The SITUATION IS he’s out there campaigning for an audience! THE SITUATION IS ticket sales and merchandise are on the rise!

Clyde: I know I know. I’ve done what I can to hinder his progress. Court restrictions and the like. Hell they travel game to game in a yellow school bus from the city school district.

Dale: Listen Clyde. It’s going to be real hard to make any profit off this if the community is invested in this basketball team.

Clyde: Or is there…What if we… How about we…

Dale: What are you going on about?

Clyde: Hear me out. You spear head the accounting firm that deals with the revenue generated by the athletic program, correct?

Dale: Yes and?

Clyde: There has been a baseline amount of what the program makes and spends over the past 5 years. With the influx of funds recently what if we were to “move” the excess money through travel expenses and administrative fees and bank what we can.

Dale: I’m listening.

Clyde: Let’s suppose this guy continues to win. The Burton sells 35% of tickets and we make about the same off merchandising… Hell we could rake in an easy $50k or so each.

Dale: A lot more than that maybe. I don’t know Clyde. This is risky stuff.

Clyde: C’mon Dale don’t be stupid. Everything goes through us already and as long as we lay low no one will suspect the difference. We won’t renew the lease at the burton and kill the program in the off-season once everyone’s quieted down. Besides coach signs off on his travel expenses… His signature just might turn up on a few “questionable” documents. Hahaha. I mean even if he loses the rest of his games, then all is going according to plan AND we make a little extra for ourselves.

Dale: Alright. I’ll get to work, but from now on we discuss this in person in private.

Clyde: Understood old friend. I’ll catch you on the up and up.

Dale: likewise

Clyde Weston hung up the phone, got out of his chair and yelled at his assistant “Cancel my afternoon meetings and take messages Cindy. I’m going to do a little shopping”

Off topic from the dynasty...well I guess that's debatable. Was bored at work today decided to make a Ch2k8 mug!

Ride that hot hand! Great game from Queen and Konate, team is really pulling together and being a force in the Southland. Little buzz growing in Lake Charles.

Konate had a solid game. Hope he and the rest of the Cowboys can keep it up!
