Demarcus Cousins Carries Kings to Victory

The first possesion of the game the Kings dumped the ball inside to Demarcus Cousins, he spun baseline, and finished with a monstrous dunk. From that point on Demarcus Cousins and the Kings never looked back. Everytime the Spurs looked like they were going to make a run Demarcus Cousins would quickly shut the door on them. The Spurs just could not find an answer for him as he finished with a career high 38 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block. Tyreke Evans chipped in with 16 points and 7 assists. This Kings team is starting to become more consistent with every game, and it looks like their fans know what they are going to get night in and night out. "When we came out of the locker room for shootaround today I could just feel something in air that told me tonight was going to be a good night. I don't put all this hard work in gym in for nothing. It looks like it is finally starting to pay off," said Cousins after the game

Rondo Misses Shot at Buzzer, Kings Win In Nail-Biter

Rajon Rondo missed a 3 at the buzzer that could have sent the game into overtime

When coach Henderson walked into the media room for his post-game interview the first thing he did was wipe his forehead and breath a sigh of relief. The Kings really pulled this one out in a team fashion. The first 2 and 1/2 quarters were back and forth the whole time. Both teams were throwing punches left and right. Everytime one team made a run, the other team had a run of their own waiting for them.

With about 5:00 left in the 3rd quarter the Celtics went on a run that opened up a 14 point lead on the Kings. "We were deflated and ready to give up. That's what last year's team would have done, but not this year. Last year we were boys playing basketball, and this year we are men playing a man's game. We weren't going to give up that easy," said Tyreke Evans after the game. By the end of the 3rd quarter the Celtics were leading 79-72.

At the begining of the 4th quarter Terrence Williams exploded for 10 of his 20 points in 4:00 stretch. We was dunking, hitting jump shots, and making his free throws. The Kings opened up the quarter on an 8-0 run to take a 1 point lead. Their lead would eventually reach as much as 8 points. With under a minute remaining and the Kings up by 5, Isaiah Thomas must have read the shot clock wrong, because he hoisted up a 3 with 15 second still left on the shot clock. "As a point guard clock awareness is something you must always have, and I won't ever let this happen again," said Thomas after the game. His 3 point shot was off the mark and the Celtics capatalized on the opportunity and Paul Pierce walked down the court and nailed a straight on 3. From that point on they played the free throw game. With 9.2 seconds the Kings led 103-100. Rajon Rondo walked the ball down the court, stared his defender down, came off a screen from Kevin Garnett, and hoisted up a 3 that clanked off the back iron as the buzzer sounded. The Kings skipped post-game handshakes and quickly ran into the lockeroom with their 4th straight victory.

Kings Withstand Late Trailblazer Rally, Win 5th Straight

Tyreke Evans get past Wesley Matthews on the fast break in route to 31 points for the night.

The Kings controlled this game for the first 3 quarters and even a little bit into the 4th quarter. With steady contributions from Tyreke Evans, Terrence Williams, and Marcus Thornton the Kings looked to be cruising to another easy victory. With 3:00 minutes left in the 4th quarter the Kings had a comfortable 12 piont lead. Wesley Matthews hit a 3 from the corner, so Brook Henderson called a timeout for the Kings. Although they had a 9 point lead with under 3:00 minutes left coach Henderson could feel something in the air. "Hey guys this game is far from over! We can't let our foot off the gas pedal," said coach Henderson during the timeout. The Kings players must have been watching the dance team during the timeout, because they obviously didn't listen to a word their coach said.

The Trailblazers would come out in the next 2:30 minutes and go on a run that cut the lead to 1 and the Power Balance Pavillion fell silent. "You could probably hear a penny drop, that's how quiet it was in the arena," said Terrence Williams after the game. With 30.4 seconds remaining the Trailblazers had the ball. Jonny Flynn shook his man and pulled up for a jumper that was halfway down when it found a way to rim out. Andre Drummond grabbed the rebound and looked for someone to outlet the ball to, because he knew that Portland was going to fould him. He couldn't find anyone and Portland intentionally fould him with 15.8 seconds left in the game. Andre Drummond stepped to the line and calmly.....missed both free throws. With 15.8 seconds left Portland had no more timeouts left and pushed the balled down the court. Jamal Crawford stood at the top of the key, just him and Tyreke Evans. The clock would wind down to 5.3 seconds before Lamarcus Aldridge came and set a screen for Crawford. Crawford came off the screen with a clear path to the basket. The air had been sucked out of the Arena as Jamal Crawford went up for a clear layup. When all of a sudden Andre Drummond came from the weakside and blocked Jamal Crawford's layup into the stands as time expired. The Power Balance Pavillion was jumping with joy. Jamal Crawford stood there speechless as did the rest of the Portland team. Andre Drummond redeemed himself for the 2 missed free throws, and the Kings ran into the lockeroom for their 5th straight win!

Warriors Continue to Have Kings Number, Win Big

San Francisco -- The Golden State Warriors continue to have the Kings number as they cruised to a 100-73 victory Sunday night. The only time it was close was when it was 0-0 and they were about to start the game.

Everything was clicking for the Warriors. They shot over 50% from the field, got to the free throw line 17 times, and had 6 players and double figures. They basically did everything that the Kings didn't

Tyreke Evans struggled all game only shooting 3-12 from the field and only getting to the free throw line once. The Kings took a total of 4 free throw shots all night. "We pride ourselves on getting to the line night in and night out," said coach Henderson after the game. "When we aren't attacking and getting into the lane, then our whole gameplam falls apart." The only two players that came to play for the Kings were Demarcus Cousins and Andre Drummond with 25 and 20 points respectively.
