Jrue and 'Dre lead 76ers over Rockets
By Jaggo Smorts

If the Philadelphia 76ers 2011-2012 season will be remembered for several reasons. One in particular being that for the first time in a long time, the Sixers could be counted on to beat the teams they were supposed to beat. After opening losses to Toronto and Minnesota to start this season, things weren't looking very good for the 2012-2013 installment.

Last night in Houston may have been one step towards brightening up their future outlook.

Andre Iguodala poured in 25 points, Jrue Holiday added 20 and the Philadelphia 76ers, more or less, cruised to a 94-83 victory over the Rockets.

On a night that started out well for the Rockets, Jeremy Lin looked like he was on his way to a huge game. He ended the first quarter with 8 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Rockets led 20-18 after one, but from that point on it was all Philadelphia. Evan Turner sparked the surge for the Sixers with one of the more graceful plays of the early season, when he drove down the middle of the lane, spun around Toney Douglas and then slammed the ball home with both hands.

The highlight of the night, by far, came when Andre Iguodala got the ball on a fastbreak and with reckless abandon slammed home the ball with two hands, all while Jeremy Lin stood beneath him, completely posterized.

"Every Thad Has His Day": Young leads Sixers over Bucks
By Jaggo Smorts

This is exactly what the Philadelphia 76ers signed Thaddeus Young, to a multi-year, multi-million dollar extension just a season ago.

With a performance that has rarely been seen from Thad in his time here, he poured in 21 points and 8 rebounds, and the Sixers defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 125-100 last night.

With the recent hub-bub over the benching of Spencer Hawes, and the lack of a true breakout game from Lavoy Allen, Young may have just thrown his name in to the hat for the starting Power Forward spot. That starting position has long been a goal for Thaddeus, but it has always seemed like his skills are more efficient off the bench. With a near double-double, it may be hard to keep him out of the starting lineup much longer if he keeps it up.

Jrue Holiday also had a big game for the 76ers, who have now won three straight game since dropping their first two. He scored 20+ points for the third game in a row, the first time he's done so in his career, another big step for the promising Point Guard.

Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis each put up 23 points, but the rest of the offense never got it going and could not catch up to the unusually explosive 76ers offense.

For Collins, Mantra is, "Nothing to see here, move along."
By Jaggo Smorts

Since the day that Doug Collins arrived in Philadelphia as the new head coach of the 76ers, reporters and fans alike have constantly badgered him about every little move he makes with the lineup. Every tiny tweak has been questioned, and every question has always been met with the same essential mantra, only expressed in different words according to the situation.

First it was, what to do with Andre Iguodala? Ship him off? Build around him? Not that Coach Collins is even the General Manager of the team and would have the final say in the matter.

Then came the issues with Evan Turner and his minutes, the biggest debacle in the media so far for Collins and the Sixers. Even through that though, Collins stayed relatively even-keel and continued to spout the same business: "Nothing is going on here, just keep on moving." Like the mysterious man standing outside of the dark alley with screams coming from it, right?

Wrong.

As this season begins and the commotion over the Turner and Collins relationship has fallen to the wayside, it's evident to see that maybe Doug was telling us the truth all along. When we questioned why he was attempting to keep everything behind the scenes, maybe the question was irrelevant; maybe nothing was actually going on. Nothing more than any other lottery pick and veteran-minded coach goes through.

So now here we are again, with Doug Collins being questioned for his most recent tweak to the lineup, the benching of Spencer Hawes. Many say that Collins is attempting to prove that Lavoy Allen is truly an NBA player/starter, a player who he insisted the 76ers draft even though no one else thought it a good idea. Maybe.

Or maybe Doug Collins just knows what is right for this team. Maybe Hawes has gotten lazy since signing a big contract in the offseason and this is Collins kicking him in the rear end. Who knows? We certainly don't and maybe that's just how it should stay, for the good of the 76ers organization.

Maybe we should just put a little trust in Doug Collins for once.
