CLEVELAND - The Bulls shut down Kyrie Irving, letting him hoist up 26 shots, 17 of which were bricked. That would be the storyline if the Bulls had beaten the Cavs in a, say, typical 15-25 point defeat one would expect. However, up and down the Cavs line-up, the Bulls had shut down any sort of offense, and none of the Cavs players got into any sort of rhythm. The best Cavs shooting performance came from rookie leading scorer and No. 4 overall pick Dion Waiters. Bad news? He only took 5 shots, 3 of which hit bottom. Nothing for the Cavaliers went right, from scoring, to rebounding, to defense, where the Bulls inside quintet of Zach Randolph, Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson, Greg Oden and Nazr Mohammed helped the Bulls outrebound the Cavs 48-31.

"This was the sort of win that a coach can only hope for every single night." Coach Thibs admitted: "When the team plays together, and the defense is together, and the rebounding is together. Just perfect."

Perfect. That's how one would describe this game. From a 24-9 lead after the first quarter, to a 55-27 lead at the half. There were no standout performances on the Bulls side of things, save for Rose's 26/4/5, Randolph's 19/8 and Nate Rob's 16/4/4 as the sixth man extroadinaire.

The Bulls were the epitome of team from the opening tip. As explained by Joakim Noah, the Bulls emotional and defensive leader, they weren't going let the Kings' 102 point performance on them opening night "...alert the rest of the league that we're a soft defensive team. We're going to fight, and we did. We sent a message." Well, the Bulls put together a defensive masterpiece, which started with the 33-61 shooting they forced (35%) and the 48 rebounds they gobbled up, 15 of which were offensive.

The Bulls will head on tomorrow night to play New Orleans, and first overall pick Anthony Davis.

WHEW ... I expect to see the Cavs starters on the next injury report with "Bruised rear end" being the injury listed after that whooping.

Nice work with the Bulls. Love a good Noah quote (Go Gators!) hoping to see more of that when the Bulls face good competition.

November 5, 2012

"So we have a deal" the man asked.
"Deal." Kenneth Williams replied, as he shook the rough hands of his dealer"

And that was all he could remember. That one deal, and nothing else. Perhaps he was just waking up from some nightmare. After all, he did still have a hangover from last night. He had just arrived off the plane from the Dominican, where he had spent the better part of a month staying. He had partied from night till morning the past day, after all, he was sitll only 24 years young. As he was recalling the ruckus night's past, he was jolted to his senses by the subtle vibration of his iPhone. He picked it up -- a text from GM Jerry Reinsdorf. Williams got out of his bed, donned by only his pajama shorts, and sauntered slowly to his cabinet -- he still felt intoxicated.

"K!" Jerry Reinsdorf yelled as he slammed his hand down in front of him.
"Wake up!" Williams had fallen asleep yet again. He wouldn't let that shady dealing bother him, and he began his meeting with Bulls president Jerry Reinsdorf.

"Why am I here?" Kenneth asked.

"I need to ask you something." Jerry replied briskly.

"Shoot." Williams said.

"We need some cap space desperately. We've tied up money in Randolph, Rose and Noah. And on the bench, we have Rip, Jimmy...It's just no expiring contracts."

"Except Garcia." Williams interjected

"Don't go smart-a$$ on me." Reinsdorf replied. "We were getting rid of him no matter what."

Williams chuckled a bit at that. He knew it was true. "Are you implying we make a trade?"

"Yes." Reinsdorf replied. "Make them now, or we may risk chemistry issues later and even worse--team issues in the future."

Williams was hesitant. He had to stop himself from saying some things. "I know that Jerry, It's just that we've been balling so far."

"Against the Kings, Cavs, Magic and Hornets..." Reinsdorf wasn't impressed.

"With 82 points given up per game. And scoring 104."

"Alright then..." Williams hoped this would be the end of the conversation, until Reinsdorf interrupted his thoughts, "Guess we'll be missing out on Dwight this off-season..."

Reinsdorf had a way with words. "Who told you that?" Williams queried.

"League sources. I've been around longer than you've been alive, kid."

"Alright."

Williams continued. "Expect to be back tomorrow morning. I've got teams lining up for players on our roster."

"Like who?"

"You'll see, kid."

Williams couldn't lie. He wasn't expecting this. Who could he trade? He had a worth of every single starter on the roster. This group had chemistry that couldn't be replaced. What he had just built was about to be stripped down.

Like those girls in the Dominican strip club.

Jerry Reinsdorf interrupted him as he pushed open the cedar double doors.
"Just one thing K."

"Anything." he replied.

"I have this report here. Something about an extortion and exploitation business going on here. Says it's about you. Probably nothing serious, right?"

Then it all hit Williams squarely in the brain. The night. The alchohol. The hangover. The deal.

He froze.

Well ... what has Kenny Williams gotten himself into?

And, hey, he's 24 too-the NBA is finally seeing how much talent that age group has

Nice read, man. Looking forward to seeing what deals and such are made ... and of course what deal Kenny made.

Re: The Unstopa-Bulls: A Chicago Bulls Association Dynasty

It was the second meeting between Kenny and Jerry Reinsdorf. The first hadn't gone well; Reinsdorf had already wanted changes to their championship-to-be roster. They had racked up the league's best defense, and a top offense, and Kenny didn't want his doing in the off-season to be flushed away, especially since he had so many people to prove wrong.

Interrupting his thoughts, Jerry welcomed Kenny. "Good morning, Kenny."

"Good morning." Kenny flatly replied, his past thoughts obviously paining him.

"So," Kenny started, breaking the awkward silence, "who are we looking for?"

"I'm looking to trade Tyreke. I know he's doing well, with what? 16, 6 and 6? But he's not the kind of player we're looking for."

"What are we looking for than? We're talking about trading an All-Star to-be this year!" Kenny exclaimed.

"We need defense. Scoring isn't our problem. Whoever we'll get for 'Reke will undoubtedly at least provide double digits..."

"Anyone in particular?" Kenny asked. He was unsure if he could work his magic a fourth straight transaction.

"I'm glad you asked." Reinsdorf said. "Here's a list". As he slowly pushed the paper towards Kenny, the whoosh of the paper on the cedar desk. It felt nice.

Kenny read the list. It would be hard to find trades for these guys, they were key pieces for their team's futures. But Tyreke could be too:

To: Kenny Williams
Subject: Trade Ideas

Paul George

Iman Shumpert

Monta Ellis

Danny Granger

OJ Mayo

Klay Thompson

Wow. It was looking like Jerry Reinsendorf was looking for shooting, and players capable of playing off the ball. Kenny knew that defense was iimportant, and some of these guys weren't exactly defensive specialists. He knew Jerry had something else up his sleeves.

"Jerry," Kenny started, "I know you want a second trade."

"It's looking like my hiring of you is looking smarter and smarter by the second." Jerry said. "Trading 'Reke isn't a definitive, more like a 50/50, and trading Randolph is also 50/50." he paused to clear his throat. "Excuse me...we have Taj Gibson looking for an extension this off-season, and swinging Randolph for a 2 or a 3 and than possibly trading Noah to get a run at a higher lottery pick will be our intentions. This one's up to you of who to trade and for whom."

"Alright." Kenny replied.

"That's a lot to sink in, so sit on it for a while, don't deal for the sake of it." Jerry advised.

"Alright," Kenny replied. "pleasure as always to talk to you." as he walked back into his office, overlooking the stadium.
