Re: Coach Pfeifer's NCAA 10 Dynasty

vs.
Bucknell Bison vs. Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks
Sojka Pavilion
Lewisburg, PA

Lewisburg, PA - "That was an exciting game for fans of both teams" exclaimed Coach Pfeifer. The Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks came into town sporting a 1-6 record, but certainly played much better than their record suggested. It was a close game throughout as the lead never left the single digits for either team.

At the half, the Bison led 29-27 despite having guards Daniel Wiltshire and Nathan Clarett sitting most of the half due to foul trouble. For only the second time all season, the Bison made their way to the charity stripe 10 or more times. Coach Pfeifer commented, "We are going to start looking to penetrate much more than we have."

The second half was sparked by fantastic shooting from both sides with the pace picking up. Naturally, this fell more into the hands of Bucknell and their frantic style of play. The Bison never relinquished their lead in the second half and were led by Sultan Maddox and his 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. The Skyhawks were led by Desmond Leonard's 14 points and 6 rebounds.

In the end, the Bison picked up a much needed 59-57 win and look forward to using this as a springboard back into their winning ways.

Up next for Bucknell (7-3, 0-0) are the Jacksonville State Gamecocks (2-3, 0-0) who started off the season with two quality wins over VMI and Brown, but have dropped their last three. Their most recent loss came at Niagara University 80-79. Bucknell, 2-3 in their last 5, look to keep things headed in the right direction as they travel into Jacksonville, Alabama for the road game. Under Coach Pfeifer, the Bison are 2-2 on the road.

Re: Coach Pfeifer's NCAA 10 Dynasty

Bucknell Bison Sign Four!

Lewisburg, PA - Coach Pfeifer entered his press conference today with an ear to ear grin as he inked his top four recruits. Among the list of commits is the athletic Brian Frank, who Pfeifer believes could see significant minutes from the get-go. Coach Pfeifer is not done yet, as he looks to fill out his roster with one or two more players. He is especially looking to get a bit deeper at the center position where he has already signed Devon Coffee, a player Coach Pfeifer is very high on.

Ben HaleySFHSCollege Park, MD6'6"200
Tyson SheffieldPGHSSeattle, WA6'1"173
Devon CoffeeCHSCovington, VA6'10"215

CLASS OF 2013

Brian Frank
- The passer-scorer is easily the most skilled player coming to Bucknell within this class. He possess the abilities to take over a game with his athletic abilities. Look for Frank to find his way into the starting line-up somewhere during his first year as a Bison.

National Rank: #159
Position Rank: #41

Ben Haley- Also noted as a passer-scorer, Haley is listed as a SF, but look for Coach Pfeifer to be creative in finding a place for him elsewhere to find him minutes. With his height and thin, athletic frame, expect him to be a nightmare match-up if put in as a SG.
National Rank: #197
Position Rank: #35

Tyson Sheffield- He may be small, but he makes up for his size in quickness. At 6'1", he isn't small with regards to his height, but at 173 pounds, the thin frame is what may have scared off bigger schools. Coach Pfeifer believes he can learn a lot under junior starting PG Daniel Whitmore as he is even smaller than Sheffield. If Sheffield can figure out how to be successful at his size, expect him to find solid minutes off the bench to spell Whitmore.
National Rank: #222
Position Rank: #50

Devon Coffee- The position that needed most to be filled as the only rostered center is freshman Levar Kinsey. The power-post, Coffee, will look to fight for minutes at the center position. Expect next year's preseason to have a big focus on whether Kinsey can hold his spot, or if Coffee can step in right away to steal the spot away.
National Rank: #419
Position Rank: #58

Re: Coach Pfeifer's NCAA 10 Dynasty

Jacksonville, AL - It was a performance we've been waiting for. Junior point guard Daniel Wiltshire has had a couple glimpses this season as to what he could be if he reached his potential. Against Jacksonville State, Wiltshire shined for Bucknell. "It was a day I'll always remember" said Wiltshire.

The first half was not all that impressive as the Bison eased out to a 28-19 lead and were doing so with stellar defense. At the half, Bucknell had accumulated 6 blocks to the Gamecock's 1. Still, the game was in reach at the half with the lead still in single digits.

As the second half went on, that defense got even stingier, allowing the Bison to go on a tear with their quick transition offense. Leading the attack was Wiltshire. He paced the Bison offense with an impressive double-double recording 17 points and 15 assists. "This is the player we know he can be. Now it is up to him to keep this type of play on the regular. The difference between him and the elite point guards in the country is consistency. If he can deliver with consistency he will begin to turn heads...nationally" said Coach Pfeifer of his budding star.

The convincing 64-39 win showed a certain defensive prowess of this group. It should be worth noting that Malcolm Richards blocked 6 shots coming off the bench. This was a career day for the sophomore power forward. "Expect major minutes for him going forward" stated Coach Pfeifer.

Back home, two days off, and it is time to take on Northern Arizona (2-7, 0-0) of the Big Sky. The Lumberjacks haven't been very good as of late and dropped their last 4 games and 6 of their last 7. "We need to keep rolling" said Coach Pfeifer when asked about their upcoming opponent.

vs.
Bucknell Bison vs. Northern Arizona Lumberjacks
Sojka Pavilion
Lewisburg, PA

Lewisburg, PA - The Bucknell Bison are starting to feel it. In a game that saw both teams try and push the pace, the Bison had their best offensive output. In the first half, the Bison struggled to break away from Northern Arizona, but maintained a steady lead throughout. At the half, the Bison led the Lumberjacks 37-31.

Junior shooting guard Saleh Cordes found his stroke from beyond the arc. Cordes had 12 points on 4-5 shooting from downtown at the half and finished with 18 points on 6-8 shooting from three. For the second straight game, Daniel Wiltshire has taken control from the get-go. At the half he recorded 8 points and 6 assists, eventually finishing with 18 points and 9 assists.

Northern Arizona fell apart defensively in the second half while Bucknell capitalized and scored at will. The offense was spread around nicely with four Bison scoring in double figures, most of whom were well above their season average. Bucknell ended strong and finished with an impressive 81-54 win.

Sultan Maddox had another big game as he was rewarded with the player of the game due to his stat-filling day. Maddox finished with 16 points, 7 blocks, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. "He did everything for us today. Maddox was so dominant down low. Those seven blocks were amazing" said an astounded Coach Pfeifer when he was told Maddox was one short of the school record of 8 blocked shots in a single game.

Coming up next for the Bison is a trip to the Hartford Hawks (1-7, 0-0) of the America East. Hartford's lone win on the season came at Montana State. This is a tough game to call as their record shows them as a far inferior team, but their difficulty of schedule would show they shouldn't have more than 1 or 2 wins. With 4 games left in their non-conference schedule, it is time to keep rolling. The last 3 games are against higher competition, so the Bison need this win before the final stretch of non-conference games.

Hartford, CT - You can't totally compare a team with their record. "We knew Hartford were better than their record indicated" stated Coach Pfeifer. It was a close game throughout. Both teams were shooting the lights out in the first half as it ended 41-34 in favor of the Bison, with the major difference coming from their bench scoring; a 17-8 advantage. Senior power forward Sultan Maddox had another sensational game as he dropped 14 points by halftime, eventually ending with 20. Junior point guard Daniel Wiltshire continued to shine with his 8 assists at the half, eventually ending as the player of the game with 11 points and 11 assists.

The second half was played at a slower pace with both teams turning the ball over their fair share of times. Hartford's Curt Heard was hard to stop in the second half, finishing the game with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Heard single handedly kept the Hawks in the game as the clock ticked on, but in the end it was not enough.

Also noteworthy was sophomore guard Nathan Clarett's 15 points on 6-6 shooting, 3-3 from downtown. "He has been a spark plug for us off the bench" said Coach Pfeifer. "I'm enjoying my time on the floor and just want to keep shooting the rock" exclaimed Clarett.

Down the stretch, the Bison showed some vulnerability as they were unable to connect of many free throws in the final minute. Luckily, Hartford was throwing up off-balanced shots otherwise it may have finished differently. In the end, the Bison came out of Hartford with a 70-59 victory.

Up next is James Madison (10-0, 0-0) of the Colonial conference. The Dukes come into the game with a perfect record and are eager to keep it that way. Nine of their ten games have been decided by double digit wins, with their only close game coming on their season opener at home against Pepperdine in a 68-65 win. Since then, they have rolled over opponents.

James Madison is led by sophomore power forward Nathan Henderson who is averaging 23.5 ppg and 7.8 rpg and sophomore small forward Ty Hilliard who is averaging 21.0 ppg. Bucknell will have their hands full with those two down low. Expect Coach Pfeifer to make some changes to his line-up to slow down the Duke's offense.
