Pistons, Dumars Sever Ties. Gores appoints new General Manager.

The Detroit Pistons have announced the firing of General Manager Joe Dumars. Effective Immediately.

Dumars played for the Pistons from 1985-1119. Dumars became the Pistons' President of Basketball Operations prior to the 2000–01 season. He was voted the league's Executive of the Year for the 2002-03 season and quietly went on to build the team that won the 2004 NBA Championship and became the 2005 NBA Eastern Conference Champions—doing so largely with players who had been discarded by other franchises. The Pistons made it to the Eastern Conference Finals six straight years (2003–2008) under Dumars' watch. This streak would come to an end in the 2008–09 season. The Pistons would get swept in the first round by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Questionable roster moves such as signing Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva to big long term contracts led to Dumars dismissal.

Taking over Dumars post is 24 year year old Tyson King. Not much is known about King except he played college basketball and Alcorn State and played overseas for a few years.

Additionally, it has been reported that head coach Lawrence Frank will be on a very short leash and could be fired any time in
the upcoming future.

Prince Demands Trade

Detroit, MI -- After General Manager Joe Dumars was fired, veteran forward Tayshaun Prince has asked the team for a trade, ESPN has learned.

"I'm not really down for the constant rebuilding, Prince told Marc Stien. Hopefully they will respect my request and trade me to a contender."

When asked for a comment, new GM Tyson Black made the following statement, "Look we only want guys that want to be here. If you don't wanna be here then there's the door. But I'm not trading someone asap just because they asked for it. I'm going to look for the best deal possible, one that will help this team. So as of today we will be sending Tayshaun home until we are able to find a good deal."

The Pistons open up the 2012-2013 season against the Houston Rockets.
