It took every last ounce of stamina, gusto, and pressure for the Spartans to defend home court.
They were down 6 at halftime.
They were down 2 with just over two minutes to go.
John Gray, a reserve SG, would save the game for the Spartans.
"It's my first time over 20 minutes." said the reserve "and it felt great."
Jeffery Jordan has far brighter plans for Gray. "Gray can knock down the three. That is what is most important in our system."
"He can pick your pockets too."
Which is what Kennesaw State found out. A tumultuous final two minutes saw the ball turn over twice. Once to gray.
Reporters caught up with opposing SF Markieth Cummings, Grays' matchup, who had a career night.
"You had to post him up. He can't play defense, but the kid has lightnin' flowing through his veins."
"And that three.. the dagger... will haunt me." He is speaking of the shot that put USC-Upstate up 92-91 late.
"This'll be a fun series. I'll be back next year. Don't let em' get too full of themselves. Sure, it's been a hot mess since they moved up, but most of these teams are hot messes. This is personal."
USC-Upstate Jeffery Jordan was relieved. "We turn the ball over a ton. I'm just happy to see another team screw it up. I guess quotables are going to be hard to come by for a few weeks for [the press]. When we win like this, everyone is ecstatic. I thought those fans from the stands were going to trample me!"
The following unfortunate things happened:
First, my save file with the original season was overwritten. So, I'd be short on box scores...
I was happy I did this because:
Second, the file was, in fact, corrupt... I knew this because a Virginia Tech Hokie was in my starting five. He was still playing for Virginia Tech -- which baffled me to death...
So, considering everything, I'm going to try this again soon. Probably same coach -- but with a little more *pizazz*.
