We Believe - A Golden State Warriors Dynasty

Hey everybody. I've been posting this in the Association thread but recently discovered this sub-forum, and wanted to get started here. I'm already 12 games into the season so I'll give a quick update in the next post. Here are the dynasty settings.

Game: NBA 2K13
Platform: PlayStation 3
Sliders: Custom (I don't remember exactly who's they are...)
Rosters: toomansmooth
30 Team Control: Off

As with my Hoops 2k8 dynasty, you can find a prettier layout of the dynasty here. I won't be updating that one every game but rather every week, however it will have more tables.

Quick Links:

Rumor Mill and Transactions are updated each game, League Leaders, Rookie Leaders, and any other tables are updated at the conclusion of each in-game Saturday.

Iggy, Nuggets, Dominate Warriors At Home

San Francisco Chronicle
November 24th, 2012

The league's best offense dropped a season-high 129 points last night, as the Denver Nuggets defeated the Golden State Warriors, 129-105, at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Andre Iguodala scored 38 points on 17-32 shooting to lead the Nuggets, who twice scored 38 points in one quarter. Helping the dominant offensive performance were also Ty Lawson, who notched 23 points and 12 assists, and Kenneth Faried, who had 16 points and 17 rebounds.

"It's not often you see a dominating offensive performance like that," said Warriors coach Mark Jackson. "Props to the Nuggets for destroying our defense tonight."

The Warriors defense really had trouble containing the Nuggets high-powered offense, which drove them for 66 points in the paint, also a season high. "We just have to play better defense, no question," said center Andrew Bogut. As Festus Ezeli returns to the court tonight, the defense should improve for Golden State.

Hopefully a return home will spark that missing plug into the Warriors, who return home tonight as they start a four game, nine day home stand when the Timberwolves come to town. The Warriors beat the Timberwolves, 100-92, in Minnesota on November 16th. The Warriors are a dreadful 2-6 on the road, but are playing above .500 at the Oracle Arena, with a record of 3-2.

The horrendous defense overshadowed the fact that the Warriors had one of their best offensive performances of the season. Stephen Curry dropped 23 points while dishing out 11 assists for his second straight game with 20+ points and 10+ assists. Klay Thompson had 20 points while David Lee notched his 7th double-double in 11 games this season with 14 points and 16 rebounds.

Before tonight's game against the Wolves, the Warriors are expected to activate center Festus Ezeli and move forward Jeremy Tyler to the reserve roster. Ezeli, 23, is averaging 6.6 points and 4.4 rebounds in 7 games this season. Tyler, 21, is averaging 2 points and 3 rebounds in 4 games this season.

Warriors Beat Injury-Riddled Wolves for Second Time in Two Weeks

San Francisco Chronicle
November 25th, 2012

The Golden State Warriors found their spark when they returned to the Oracle Arena on Saturday night, defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves, 101-93, for the second time in the past two weeks.

On November 16th the Warriors topped the T-Wolves, 100-92, at the Target Center in Minnesota. In both contests, the Wolves were without the services of star forward Kevin Love, who is recovering from a back injury. Brandon Roy was absent from last night's contest as well with a sore hamstring.

After a very weak defensive output in Friday's loss to the Denver Nuggets, the Warriors came back strong, with three steals and nine blocks to seal a very solid defensive effort. However, Golden State still ranks 26th in the league in points allowed per game. "Definitely, that's something we need to work on," said Warriors head coach Mark Jackson. With a four-day break scheduled next week, the Warriors should have plenty of time to work on defense.

The T-Wolves kept it close throughout most of the first three quarters before falling apart in the clutch moments of the fourth quarter. Strong performances by Luke Ridnour, who had 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists filling in for Roy, and Nikola Pekovic, who had 12 points and 13 rebounds, allowed the Wolves to hold it to two points after three quarters. But Klay Thompson went for 12 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter, including two three pointers.

Stephen Curry notched his third straight game with 20+ points and 10+ assists, scoring 23 points and also nabbing 12 assists. It's Curry's 6th game this season with at least 20 points and his 6th double-double. David Lee had another strong performance with 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Andrew Bogut contributed 15 points and 7 boards. Rookie Harrison Barnes had a strong bounce-back game, with 7 points, 8 rebounds, a steal and two blocks.

The Warriors will get four days to rest before they play the Nuggets for the third time this season on Thursday to close out the month of November. After this meeting, the Dubs will play the Nuggets for the final time this season on January 13th. The Nuggets lead the season series 2-0.

Lawson's triple-double Lifts Nuggets Past Warriors

San Francisco Chronicle
November 29th, 2012

The Denver Nuggets continued their fantastic season offensively Thursday with a 115-103 win over the Golden State Warriors at the Oracle Arena.

It's safe to say the Nuggets (11-5) have been the Warriors' worst nightmare this season, as the Warriors (6-9) are 0-3 against them so far this season, being outscored 353-314. The two clubs will meet for the final time this season in January in Denver.

At the end of the first half, the Nuggets were leading by just one, but, like many games this season, the Warriors defense failed to produce in the second half as they allowed 38 points in the third quarter and 27 points in the fourth, spoiling several solid individual performances.

"As much as one player does, it doesn't count for the team, and that's what matters," said Harrison Barnes, who set a new career high with 20 points on 8-13 shooting. "Even if me and Steph [Curry] and Klay [Thompson] have good games, we didn't win and that's what we aim for every night. We just hope we can all repeat these performances in a win next time." As we near the end of the month, Barnes is making a run for for Western Conference Rookie of the Month as he had a very solid start to his career.

Ty Lawson and Andrew Iguodala carried the load for the Nuggets after Wilson Chandler fouled out early in the third quarter. Lawson had his first career triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 14 assists, and Iggy had 29 points on 13-26 shooting with 7 rebounds. Javale McGee also turned in a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Curry nearly had a triple-double of his own, with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists in a season-high 38 minutes of action. Thompson had 15 points with 2 threes and Davis Lee dropped 9 points with 12 boards. Andrew Bogut had just 4 points but also helped out with 13 boards.

The Warriors finished up November with a 6-9 record, last in the Pacific Division. They take on the 7-8 Indiana Pacers on Saturday, December 1st in game three of their four game home-stand. They'll play the Orlando Magic on December 3rd before kicking off a seven-game road trip with stops in Detroit, Brooklyn, Washington, Charlotte, Miami, Orlando, and Atlanta.

Thompson Out 2-4 Weeks

San Francisco Chronicle
December 1st, 2012

The Golden State Warriors learned today that they'll be without the service of guard Klay Thompson for 2-4 weeks. Thompson strained his groin at the end of Thursday's game against the Nuggets. He is able to play but Coach Mark Jackson says he wants Klay to take at least two weeks off before returning to the court, so he will likely return after the Warriors' upcoming 7 game road trip.

Jackson stated that Jarrett Jack will start at shooting guard for the time being. This is the second time Thompson has been injured this year, as he missed time two weeks ago with recurring back spasms. In 12 games this season, Klay Thompson is averaging 30.3 minutes, 14.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assits on 39% shooting and 31% 3 point shooting.
