Dallas Recap
With O.J. Mayo set to return vs the 76ers this week, Rodrigue Beaubois will take his spot back on the bench, but now as the primary backup point as the Mavs have waived Derrick Fisher after the trade with the Denver Nuggets. The Mavs offense is clicking on all cylinders right now averaging 106 points per game which is tied for 3rd in the league. Although their defense is hit and miss so far this season they have been able to outscore most opponents, and getting Mayo back this week will help both their offense and defense. We will see how the trade affects the Mavs chemistry and if rookie Jared Cunningham, who will have a significantly larger role now can produce throughout the rest of the season.
Around the NBA
Along with the big trade involving vince carter to the Nuggets the Bulls and the New York Knicks agreed to send Rasheed Wallace and 2014 second round pick to the Bulls for Nate Robinson.
As the injuries start to pile up, some teams are hurting more than others, the Denver Nuggets who have two starters in Ty Lawson, and Andre Igoudala out, 2-4 weeks and 6-8 weeks respectively, will need to get some good production out of their backups. Others get players back, such as Carmelo and Westbrook both back last week.
The Toronto Raptors who are getting great play out of underrated guard Demar Derozen and Jose Calderon went 4-0 on the week and jumped from 12th to 5th in this weeks power rankings. The Timberwolves who lost Kevin Love last week go 0-3 on the week and drop 11 spots to 24th in the power rankings and will need to raise their level of play without their star to get back to where they want to be.

Recap
One month down in the NBA, and Dallas is playing strong ball with O.J. Mayo back 100% healthy and Dirk playing some of the best basketball of his career. Detroit came into the American Airlines arena looking for an upset victory and jump start their season. But it was Dallas who was looking to start hot and keep it that way. Mayo opened the game going 2-2 from beyond the arc in the first 3 minutes. Detroit couldn't hit an open **** from anywhere, but Rodney Stuckey thought he was Kobe throwing up 20 shots on the night, although he only hit 5 of them. Dallas would pull the starters at half and let the 2nd and 3rd unit play the 3rd and some of the 4th. Jared Cunningham was a pure beast out there doing whatever he wanted in the iso. Cunningham finished the game with 14 points on 7-13 shooting. The Mavs move to 11-6 on the season and open the 2nd month of the season with a W.

NBA News
Just a few months out of last years NBA finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder got off to a shaky start. Westbrook missed a few games early and were 4 games under .500. Now with Westbrook back and Durant playing all star basketball like we expect the Western Conference champions are poised to make a run and reclaim their #1 seed.
Over in the Eastern Conference, The new look Brooklyn Nets are struggling to find their chemistry. After an offseason in which the Mavs tried their hardest to lure PG Deron Williams back to his hometown, which failed, the Nets picked up Joe Johnson, another threat to help take the heat off Williams, they sit at 8th in the East with an abysmal 7-9 record through the first month of the season.

Some huge trades went down this week as the Bucks sent away Larry Sanders and John Henson as well as their 2013 second rounder. The first trade send John Henson to the Utah Jazz for Earl Watson and a '14 second rounder. Then two days later the Bucks sent Larry Sanders and '13 second rounder to the Knicks in exchange for J.R. Smith.
The Clippers also agreed on a deal with the Knicks, sending Caron Butler in exchange for Steve Novak and Marcus Camby. W will have to see if these trades make an impact on any team, and if the Knicks who clearly added some youth will be able to continue to make a splash in the East.
The Lakers with the best record in the league, as you can imagine have quite a few league leaders.

Dallas Mavericks Recap
The Mavs started the season rough, and then hit a hot streak. They sit at 11-6 through the first month and tied with the Grizzlies for first in the Southwest division. With a small trade and a waive of PG Derrick Fisher the Mavs haven't been hit by any major injuries and are staying rather competitive in the west. Although there are some grumblings in the locker room, Mavs owner Mark Cuban has said he doesnt want to mix up the roster to much at this point in the season. With Dirk playing some of his best basketball in his career it will be interesting to see how they continue to play as the new pieces still are finding chemistry with the 2010-11 NBA finals MVP and see if they can continue to be competitive out west.

Recap
In what turned out to be a shooting exhibition for the Dallas Mavericks, The Houston Rockets look to just find a positive in their season. Sitting at 6-13 the Rockets haven't showed any desire or ability to win games. As for the Mavs, they looked about as close to perfect as you can look, some of this credit to the bad defense by the Rockets, but Dirk is continuing his MVP like season playing the pick-n-pop with Collison to perfection in the first half where he shot an astounding 9/11 including 2 three pointers. The Mavericks played an all around great game and continue to dominate on the offensive end of the court. Next up the Mavs take on the Sacramento Kings at home on December 10th.

Dallas Recap
Dallas is still playing great ball going into December. Sitting on a 13-7 record and half a game ahead of Memphis in the division, on what originally might have been somewhat of a rebuilding season, it remains to be seen if the Mavs will make anymore moves to acquire talent or future draft picks. The Mavs have been rumored to be looking to acquire a point guard through the draft, namely Marcus Smart from Oklahoma, or Brandon Young from Arkansas. What does this mean for the future of Darren Collison in Dallas? He is in the last year of his contract and will undoubtedly ask for quite a bit more money in the offseason, and with Dirk set to make 22.72m next year it will be interesting to see how the Mavs handle that situation. Although the Mavs have been red hot offensively, it is bound to cool down and being a bottom half of the league defensively, will they still be able to be a contender come all star break and win games down the stretch? we will have to see.

Recap
Two of the top 5 teams meet here in a mid December match-up in which Dallas is without starting forward, Shawn Marion and the Mavs young forward Jae Crowder makes his first start of the season. The game started off like everyone thought, high percentage shots getting knocked down. The 76ers got out to a 7 point lead in the first before O.J. Mayo started to take the game over. Going into half time the Mavs had the momentum closing the quarter on a 8-2 run. Although it looked like the 76ers would run away with the game in the 3rd, the mavs hung in there as the 76ers wend on a 13-4 run to end the quarter and had all the momentum going into the 4th. But everyone knows how Dallas plays in the 4th, They played pick-n-pop with Dirk and Collison. Dirk finally made his mark on the game after being quiet for most of the game. Dirk would hit a game tieing jumper from 18 feet out with 8 seconds left. Was it enough time for the 76ers to get a quality shot off? Jrue Holliday came out and jacked up a quick jumper from just inside the arc and Chris Kaman would get the rebound sending the game into OT.
In OT, it would be the Dirk Nowitzki show. Completley demanding the ball and converting on 4-4 in OT and taking the game for Dallas. The Mavs locked up on Defense in the OT period which would give them the W.
