NBA Draft Is On It's Way; NBA Headlines
  • Brendan Haywood waived by Bobcats
  • Jeremy Evans waived by Jazz
  • Tim Ohlbrecht waived by Rockets
  • San Antonio waives Matt Bonner
  • Lawrence Frank fired; USC HC Tracy Kennedy Hired

June Headlines; Winners & Losers Edition
Winners
Timberwolves Win Lottery
With a what most would call a solid "future" roster the Timberwolves now get to add another player for that future squad with their new #1 draft pick.
Pistons Hire Tracy Kennedy
Kennedy was a great coach at USC and he definitely knew know to coach that team to victory. He seems to have good charisma skills and knows what it takes to bring a struggling team to the top.
Losers
Spurs Waive Matt Bonner
Now this isn't a bad move nor a good move... Bonner has an amazing three point shot and he can easily come off the bench and knock them down. He's a great spot up shooter who has a career average of 41.7% accuracy beyond the 3 point arc and the Spurs will no longer have him on their roster.

Early NBA Draft Previews

Top Prospect David Burke a Lock For Number One?
Player Evaluation
Name: David Burke
School: Louisville
Class: Sophomore
Position: SG/PG
Height: 6"6
Weight: 218

Strengths:
Has tremendous size... Can shoot anywhere whenever he wants and enjoyed that advantage at Louisville. Is an exceptional defender with a great wingspan that shows potential... Already has developed an amazing basketball IQ. Unlike many other guards coming in in the NBA today, Burke possesses an above-average NBA shooting guard body. At 6"6, 218 lbs he shows off his IQ. with his willingness to go into the paint whenever it crosses his mind. Has a good enough ball handling skills to play the point guard position.
Has pretty much been viewed nationwide since he was in 7th grade and has been able to stay involved in what he does now rather than the future.
Weaknesses:
With Burke's amazing athleticism I find it unacceptable that he only averaged 4.2 rebounds per game at Louisville.. Especially in the NCAA where it is not very hard to use natural speed and quickness to crash the boards more efficient however despite that advantage he still at times got out-rebounded by his opponent. Burke shot 66% from the free throw line this season, about 8 off from his freshman season (73.8%). Tends to do too much when it comes to contesting shots.. He often tries to come up for the highlight block and ends up being called for the foul which explains why he only played over 32 minutes at Louisville only 8 times. Considered a microwave, Burke will begin the fire up shots once he believes he's hot and when he does that we don't know when he'll stop, even when he's missing...
