Sacramento Kings Depth Chart - 2013

This isn't your old Kings roster... There are tons of new faces especially starting. The new point guard Greivis Vasquez is a native of Venezuela and a huge one at that. he's six six. He lead the NBA in total assists last year, and will be a pass first point guard in this offense, the kings haven't had one of those in forever. He will be starting over Isaiah Thomas, who has been relegated to the super sixth man role. Marcus Thornton returns to the starting line but this is only until the seventh pick in the draft hopefully overtakes him.
Mbah a Moute comes from a Milwaukee trade in which the Kings only gave up a second round pick. Landry will be asked to provide a veteran presence in the locker room, and a post presence on the court. Demarcus Cousins in in his contract year, so let's see if he can straighten up. The Kings have an excess of Bigs and Point Guards so don't be surprised to see one traded.

First Game: The Dallas Mavericks.

Re: Sacramento Survivors. 2.0

I am a big fan of Grevis Vasquez, he plays with a lot of intensity and has ever since his Terp days lol, I am glad you are going to start him, if he gets the right situation then I believe he can have a breakout year!

I look forward to seeing how your season plays out! Good luck!

The Kings lost a close one as they had an opportunity to get the win at the last second, but Isaiah Thomas shot bounced in and out of the rim. What a tease. Isaiah who has been relegated to the bench out performed starter Greivis Vasquez in every major statistical category in a lot less minutes. Looks like we have a point guard battle on our hands. Marcus Thornton saw his chance to be a starter and seized it, showing Mclemore what a true vet can do, he shot 66 percent and helped the Kings spark a 14-6 run to help them get within one point. Demarcus Cousins was Phenomenal as he only missed three of his 11 shots, while also pulling down nine boards. What killed the team this game was their lack of defense, especially against newly revived Dirk. Look for the team to try and bounce back against the high powered Houston Rockets led by Howard and Harden.

Isaiah Thomas: 6 pts, 2-4 FG, 5 reb, 8 ast

Re: Sacramento Survivors. 2.0

Trade Rumors and storylines.

Patrick Patterson, also known as Ppat has politely asked to be traded. He has stated he would like the opportunity to compete for a job instead of being buried on the depth chart. He played a total of three minutes last game. The Kings would be looking for for a back up center, or a small forward in return. But what the Team wants to do is trade Chuck Hayes first, and move Jason Thompson to back up center.

The Kings might amnesty John Salmons this year? Let's not ignore the fact that John Salmons contract is ridiculous, and frankly it makes him untradeable. If the Kings want to do much this free agency, they need to do something about his contract.

The Kings are looking to extend Demarcus Cousins as he will be a RFA this year, they believe Big Cuz can be their franchise centerpiece and would like to build around him and Mclemore going into the Future. Cousins is young, 22 I believe, so this contract would be in his prime years, which might be a bargain for the Kings.

Many though Ben Mclemore had the talents and the natural ability to be drafted number 1 overall, but on draft day he surprisingly dropped to the Kings. Elated the Kings drafted him immediately, as he has the highest potential and best shooting touch in the entire draft. He was noted saying that he's playing with, " a chip on his shoulder" as he though he should have been picked top three and hopes to make the other teams regret passing on him. Nonetheless he is happy to be a King, and they have embraced him with open arms. Now can he overtake Marcus Thornton?

Geoff Petrie has been fired after the fans were tired of his shortcomings for the past decade. The Kings hired Gm Noe Estrella right before the draft, he selected Ben Mclemore with his first pick feeling very fortunate to have such a great prospect fall into his lap. Noe Estrella also bring his own staff to the team, firing Keith Smart and hiring Golden State Assistant Coach Mike Malone who is a defensive specialist. Malone will also be bringing along his father Mr.Malone.... haha and Chris Jent, who we got extended look at during summer league.

Alright it doesn't seem like a blowout but it was I swear! The Kings starters hung 89 points on the Rockets vaunted starting five before Malone pulled them in favor of the prospects. Marcus Thornton continues to look great in his starting role after only missing three out of his fourteen shots! He's playing out of his mind. Isaiah continues to put up identical numbers to Vasquez in a less amount of minutes, Vasquez needs to step up his game, although he did show that he can score in this game. Mclemore looked uncomfortable on the court missing 11 of his 15 shots, although he was being guarded by one of the best in the game in James Harden. McCallum looked good out there for a second rounder, maybe he can be good enough to replace one of our points, or make one of them expendable. Cousins was largely shut down by Howard. Next game is against a very young and high flying Toronto team.

Other Notable stats:

Greives Vasquez: 13 pts, 5 ast

Isaiah Thomas: 4 pts, 3 reb, 8 ast

Patrick Patterson: 8 pts, 6 reb

Demarcus Cousins: 7 pts, 7 reb, 1 ast, 1 blk

Rookie Watch:

Ben Mclemore: 11 pts, 1 reb, 1 ast

Ray McCallum: 3 pts, 3 ast

Re: Sacramento Survivors. 2.0

Looking good so far, looks like you almost choked the game away against Houston though. Good luck getting rid of Salmons too.
