Central High School vs Twin Peaks High School
January 20th, 2014

_______________________________________

Our freshman Eagles have marked a two game winnings streak in the win against Twin Peak High School. The game consisted on tough man to man defense production coming from our Eagles resulting in under 40% shooting from the Tigers. The game was another one where everyone contributed and we finished with a great team effort. Elton Rodolfo once again was added to the starting lineup and gave great production which included 10 points and 12 rebounds. Eddie Gregory appeared in his first start and put up 8 points and had 6 assists.

Don't miss out on the Freshmen Eagles next game against our rival Salem High School! The game will be played on January 31st to wrap up the month of January. Come support your Eagles!

Re: "A Look in My Eyes" - Journey Of 5'4" Guard Michael Kane

My after game thoughts against Twin Peak High School...

The refs were pure garbage... I got hacked by this same guy about 3 times going to the basketball and guess what? NO CALL!!! Then they want to call a foul every time we try to get an offensive rebound.
The Tigers had this guy, I think his name was Jay or something and he's one of the most dirtiest players I've played against in terms of fouling. He's about 6'4" and he rarely gets called for the fouls he commits.
I was victim of his acts and in result, I missed 4 out of 5 of my shots because no calls but it's all good because we got the win.
Ohhh yeah, I'm back on the bench -_-. Just scored 18 now I'm back on that seat on tip off. I'm a little confused. At least Eddie played good.

Team Practice

Coach Arambul Practice Introduction
Quote:
Ok welcome back to practice Eagles. We played great against Twin Peak yesterday and we could've done better if the refs actually gave us our calls. And yes, I changed up the line ups because we're in our early stages of the year and I want to see our stronger side. I doubt I'll be switching our rotations up as much as I have been doing these past games.
We've just gotta have more communication on the floor so we don't throw away the ball 10 times anymore... So today I want to go over our plays again for a chunk of time and I definitely want to get some rebounding drills in because we didn't have a SINGLE offensive rebound yesterday and I find it unacceptable for us.
My thoughts
The lineup change was still BS and the logic is as well. She's basically using our actual games as a practice to see how we compete. Haha, not the best logic...

Coach Arambul Practice Wrapup
Quote:
Okay so we have Salem High School on our schedule up next... You may already know this but they're our rival. Each game is pretty intense but we've got some time to prepare ourselves.
Good job today, have a good evening.

Central High School vs Salem High School
January 31st, 2014

_______________________________________

Central High School hosted our league rival Salem High School yesterday in a win that came down to the final seconds. With this being such a tough rivalry game we are proud that our students showed support to our freshman athletes! This game featured a tremendous high scoring fourth quarter game from each sides and our Eagles walked out with the win. Key performances included Jospeh Donnell's clutch steal on defense which prevented a basket that could've tied the game in the closing seconds. Other performances included Eddie Gregory's elite scoring with 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assist while Jeremy Rich added 9 points.
The Eagles will play Horrace Mantis High School on February the 10th.

***: Just wanna let you guys know the recaps and box scores will become more detailed as I progress in my career. I'm trying to stay realistic by not giving the Freshmen roster a ton of attention in the school media/athletics.

Re: "A Look in My Eyes" - Journey Of 5'4" Guard Michael Kane

My after game thoughts against Salem High School...

I loved this rivalry game. I never really played in such a big atmosphere, this was only a freshman game but the stands were on FIRE. I guess it's because Varsity played after us so it's basically 2 games in 1 but still. This was such a great feeling and I really felt like I was representing the Eagles by wearing that Jersey. But anyways, if you're not a starter on Salem High School, you're not playing haha. And I'm dead serious, the sixth man of their team might have played about half a quarter while the starters pretty much played the entire game.
I didn't play so great in this game... I got my assists but I really struggled scoring the ball. I think I shot 1-8, , I'm hoping coach doesn't punish me for that. I also got 3 turnovers in my 16 minutes of play but hey I got my first block!

Central High School vs Horrace Mantis High School
February 13th, 2014

_______________________________________

The Eagles have increased their win streak up to 4 now in a win against Horrace Mantis High School! All throughout the game the Eagles made only few mistakes on offense which led to the win. Sixth man Michael Kane scored a season high of 19 points to lead the past to the win.
The game was very fast paced and each team showed their ability to shoot the ball so it was a priority for the Eagles to keep their matchups in check to keep the game in hand.

Central High School plays Stonewall High next week in another home game.

Re: "A Look in My Eyes" - Journey Of 5'4" Guard Michael Kane

My after game thoughts against Horrace Mantis High School...

So after our game against Salem High School I had to listen to my dad rant about how I'm not believing in my skillset and that I'm giving up too many opportunities on offense. He basically told me about how I need to start getting more jump shots up instead of trying to force my way inside because I'm too "small". Well I kept that in mind this game and I took all the shots I saw right from the get go and in a result I scored a personal and team season high. It wasn't too hard because the Pioneer's point guard stood at around 5'1" and he wasn't very good on defense so I felt I had an advantage when he guarded me.
I know coach is going to keep me accountable for my low assist numbers (1) in this game but it seemed like none of my teammates were taking the open looks when I passed it to them... For an example Rob passed up a WIDE open layup to pass it back to me on the perimeter... Speaking of Rob though, he;s not really been the same since 2014 starter, I don't really know what's up with that but he sure is rebounding and we're winning so no issues there.
