Breaking News: Bynum requests trade

BREAKING NEWS: Andrew Bynum asks 76ers for trade

It appears as though the rumours were true all along...well at least half of the rumour. The Philadelphia 76ers have just released a statement saying that their star center Andrew Bynum has asked them to trade him. With rumours circulating about a blockbuster trade involving him and Milwaukee guard Monta Ellis in recent days, it seems to be only a matter of time until the next big trade is in the books as done and dusted. The Bucks are yet to provide any comment on the rumours and were unable to be reached for clarification.

It is believed that Bynum is fed up with the role that he has been playing in the the 76ers' offence this season and is keen to move to a team that will play more towards his style of basketball like his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers. A move to them is off limits as they recently shipped Bynum off for Dwight Howard who is thriving in the purple and gold of LA. Despite being one of the the premier back to the basket players in the league, Bynum believes that he and coach Doug Collins have disagreed about the shots that he shot be taking in games and as a result, his shooting figures have slipped to numbers not seen since his rookie season where he averaged a quarter of the minutes that he gets today.

Despite the request to leave, he is still expected to travel with the team to Cleveland for their next game against the Cavaliers but many are speculating that his last game for the club may come at home to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a few days time. The trade arena is one of the things that makes the NBA so exciting and its next big installment could be just around the corner.

Great update! Bynum's trade request is definitely something that I could have seen happening. The 76ers played a very specific style of basketball under Doug Collins, and as you mentioned earlier, Bynum doesn't really fit in too well with it. The 76ers will easily be able to get similar production out of Spencer Hawes, while hopefully adding a dynamic scorer like Monta Ellis to the team.

Awesome start to this dynasty! I look forward to updates!

Game Notes
Philadelphia head out on the road to Cleveland after a successful 5 game home stand. They will put their 4 game winning streak to the test against the Cavaliers. The one meeting that has occurred between the two teams this season came as part of that winning run as the 76ers were too good for the Cavaliers beating them 105-95. The result came as a result of a marvelous double-double from Jrue Holiday who scored 22 points and threw 10 assists.

For Philadelphia, their last game was an 86-84 home win over the Toronto Raptors to wrap up their home stand. In this low-scoring encounter, smart offence and robust defense were the keys to victory and the 76ers were able to grasp a hold of both. After they realised that the 3 point shot was not working for them, they ventured into the paint and it paid off for them in the end. Jrue Holiday was once again the star for Philadelphia with his 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and he was helped on the stat sheet by Nick Young who put on 18 points.

For Cleveland, they didn't perform as well as they would have liked in their last outing that was their loss to the 76ers. Offensively, they were not up to the level that had been set for them despite a late attempt at a comeback and defensively, they never did enough to stop Philadelphia from scoring the way that they wanted to. Kyrie Irving was best for the Cavaliers with 20 points and C.J. Miles helped out on the score sheet with 17 points of his own.

76ers - 2012-13 Matchday 12 Review

Cavaliers bust 76ers' winning run with 97-83 win

The Philadelphia 76ers have been hit hard by the news their star big man Andrew Bynum has asked for a trade away from them and have had their winning streak snapped by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cleveland continued the road woes of the 76ers with a 97-83 win that really didn't have any contest to it after halftime. Cleveland shot 42% from the floor to take advantage of the mess that the 76ers have appeared to become in such short order and dominated on the glass despite committing 13 turnovers. The 76ers looked nothing like they were in their last outing against the Cavaliers shooting 37% from the field while continuing with their struggles from deep with a 31% showing. Defensively, they once again showed their prowess with a staggering 9 blocks and 9 steals but it was their offence that was problematic for them.

The game started in a relatively cold fashion as neither team got off to their desired start off the tip. Philadelphia started the game with a 36% shooting quarter which only registered 25% from deep. This was despite their advantage that they gained on the offensive glass during the quarter. Defensively, they seemed to operate better than on offence as they were limited to 1 ball handling error for the quarter. The Cavaliers were not as effective on offence as they shot 31% from the field but showed up from deep with 60% of their shots from downtown falling. Their free throw shooting was also effective for them as none of the 5 attempts from the line missed. Ball handling, however, was not good for them as they committed 5 turnovers. This contributed to Philadelphia taking the first quarter 23-20 and looking like notching their 5th straight win.

The second quarter was the quarter that really decided the result of the game as the Cavaliers looked way too strong for the 76ers and built a lead that they would not give up for the rest of the game. Philadelphia shot 31% from the field and their long range woes kept haunting them as only 16% of their 3 point attempts fell during the quarter. Their other major concern during the quarter was their inability to gain the advantage on the glass as that battle fell to Cleveland 15-8. The Cavaliers, on the other hand, had a very good quarter. Shooting 55% of all shots and 60% from downtown, their offence opened up the advantage that good, smart shooting makes you deserving of. Their bench was particularly effective with 14 points coming from players making an impact from the bench. From the line, they also put in a good quarter shooting 7/8 from the charity strike allowing them to convincingly take the second quarter 16-30 to open up an 11 point lead at the break.

With the lead that they had built in the second quarter, the Cavaliers felt no need to break the bank on offence during the third quarter but still managed to outperform the struggling 76ers. They shot 52% from the field and an even 50% from deep. They also held the advantage on the boards for the quarter particularly defensively as they gained a 10-7 advantage on the defensive glass. Philadelphia tried but they ultimately couldn't produce the goods when they were needed most. They piled on the points in the paint with 12 of them as they went on to shoot 45% from the floor. Defensively, they also fired as well with 2 blocked shots to ensure that the quarter was closer than it should have been. Cleveland took the third 27-14 to open up an unassailable 14 point cushion.

With the result practically set in stone, both teams decided not to put too much effort into the fourth quarter and it showed on the stat sheet. Philadelphia shot only 35% from the floor but seemed to pick it up from deep with a 60% display from long range. Their defense seemed to switch on at the right times though with an impressive 4 blocks during the final quarter of play. It was not hard to tell that Cleveland had called it a night after their 31% shooting display from the field and their 28% showing from downtown. They were, however, able to gain the advantage on the glass but ultimately, the teams could not be split in the fourth as it was drawn 20-20. The Cavaliers, therefore, maintained their 14 point lead from the end of the third to make it the final margin of victory.

Nick Young was the star of the show from the 76ers' point of view with 31 points and 8 rebounds to easily post the highest individual score of the night. In what many have claimed to be a sign of pressure for management to change their running of the team, Andrew Bynum followed up his trade request with an 11 point and 11 rebound double-double and 2 blocks on defense. Perhaps it was his team trying to involve him more on offence in an attempt to change his mind and heart from wanting to leave the club. Kyrie Irving was the best on the court for the winning Cavaliers tonight with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. He was helped on the stat sheet by his backcourt partner Dion Waiters who scored 21 points and stripped possession from the 76ers twice.

Cleveland head out on the road to face the Orlando Magic in Orlando in a game that has to be seen as easily winnable after tonight's performance. Philadelphia head back home to start a 3 game home stand with what has to be their biggest game of the season so far; a battle with Western Conference powerhouse, the Oklahoma City Thunder led by their superstars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

In terms of the data that is transmitted, for the sake of keeping this dynasty somewhat relevant come NBA 2K14, the offseason leading into 2013-14 will contain a mixture of real-life data and remaining 2K13 simulated data. All previous data referred to from the start of 2013-14 season will come from real-life data. Hopefully this idea doesn't go pearshaped as this dynasty progresses.
So instead of the way I have been intending to run it with a transition of data from 2K13 to real-life to 2K14, I was thinking of changing my approach and making the transition seamless.

How I propose it now has it running as is with 2K13 and then I go and change the roster that I use in 2K14 so that the squads are as they are when I finish using 2K13 (draft picks and all). For previous data, I will disregard all information from real life 2012-13 and instead use the data from my 2K13 dynasty thus ensuring a seamless transition from 2K13 to 2K14 without any blips of inconsistent data.

Let me know your thoughts on this proposal, followers!

So it seems as though I have appeared to have lost all my followers...not promising for the long-term health of this dynasty. I'm more than happy to keep plugging along with what I'm doing as what I'm doing is really getting me going about the future but it'd be nice to have some support from real basketball loving fans who love the drama that basketball outside of their control can whip up. Hope to see guys jump on board as I set out to make this viable and healthy long-term dynasty.

Anywhoo, since no feedback has been offered, it looks as though its up to me to call ths shots. The change outlined above will take full effect allowing me greater flexibility with my actions in the dynasty and also ensures a seamless transition from current gen to next gen when it drops. Think of it now as a continuous 2K13 dynasty but with a transition to 2K14 after the first season.

More updates to come won't be as frequent as usual I don't think but there'll still be a consistent flow of updates.

Game Notes
The Philadelphia 76ers return home after their disappointing getaway road game to face their biggest game of the season so far; a matchup with reigning Western Conference Champions the Oklahoma City Thunder. Two games will be played between these two teams this season and the Thunder took the only game played last season.

For Oklahoma City, they come into this game in hot form with their 8 game winning streak that was continued with their 94-88 road win at the Boston Celtics. Offensive production was not the key to the result of the game but the Thunder did just enough to exhibit their strengths ensuring their winning run continued. Kevin Durant was on fire for Oklahoma City with 29 points, 12 rebounds and 4 steals on defense. Russell Westbrook also contributed on the stat sheet with 30 points and 4 steals as well.

For Philadelphia, they had their 4 game winning snapped with a road loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers who prevailed 97-83. After the form they showed from the previous 4 games, it was quite a shock to see the 76ers play the way they did in their last game. Some may attribute it to their poor road form this season and others may attribute it to the ongoing trade saga involving star big man Andrew Bynum for whom this may be his last game for the 76ers. Nick Young was the star of the show from the 76ers' point of view with 31 points and 8 rebounds to easily post the highest individual score of the night. In what many have claimed to be a sign of pressure for management to change their running of the team, Bynum followed up his trade request with an 11 point and 11 rebound double-double and 2 blocks on defense.

76ers - 2012-13 Matchday 13 Review

Oklahoma City defeat Philadelphia 109-89 for 9th straight victory

The Oklahoma City Thunder have been hot to start this season and they showed it as they defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 109-89 for their 9th straight win and their 13th of the season. The Thunder ran riot on offence and on defense as they took complete control of every facet of the game leaving the 76ers asking themselves questions as to where they go from here. Philadelphia are still struggling to cope with Andrew Bynum's attempts to force his way out of the 76ers franchise and lacked any sort of cohesion as they were roundly outplayed by the better team tonight.

Strangely enough, the 76ers were able to gain and maintain a slender lead right throughout the first half as they were able to take the first quarter 27-21 and then restrict Oklahoma City to a 26-23 second quarter win. Their passing displays were worth watching as easy shots were being created and taken right through the first half of the game. After the break, it was a different story entirely as the Thunder put the game beyond any doubt in the third quarter with a blistering 33-18 quarter in which their domination of the game was on show for the world to see. They backed up their dominant quarter with another strong quarter in the fourth taking it 29-21 to wrap up a dominant 20 point win.

The dynamic duo of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant combined once again for a stellar contribution to the Thunder's win tonight with a staggering 60 points, 23 rebounds and 15 assists between them. These two players have been on fire all season long especially behind Durant's league-topping scoring output and they did not disappoint tonight. Nick Young provided the hot hand for the 76ers with 24 point and 6 rebounds and Evan Turner's double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds as well as 5 assists was a healthy addition to Philadelphia's stat sheet as well.

When asked on his opinion of tonight's proceedings, 76ers coach Doug Collins was not very happy with his team's performance saying that "we did not do nearly enough to pose any sort of threat to the Thunder tonight and we allowed them to dominate us on the boards, in the paint, on the break...it really was not what I was looking for tonight from the team and we will bounce back next time out." On the Andrew Bynum trade saga, Collins responded by saying that "Andrew is still a member of the 76ers despite his wishes to be moved on. He was disappointing tonight and he needs to know, and I will tell him, that he needs to pick us his game because he is expected to contribute on both sides of the floor regardless of whether he's staying or going. I have nothing to say on any potential destinations or what we would anticipate to get for him on the market because I am still his coach and he is still a Philadelphia 76er."

Philadelphia continue their home stand with a game against the Phoenix Suns tomorrow night as they look to bounce back from tonight's humiliation. Oklahoma City return home for their next fixture and will be looking to stretch their winning run into double digits against the lowly Charlotte Bobcats on Monday night.
