Kevin Jackson, a 25-year old failed pro baller, has been hired by the University of Tennessee-Martin to take over basketball coaching duties. He hopes to bring back the success from the Lester Hudson days.

Defensive Dominance Leads Skyhawks to rout

A great start and defensive shutdown helped the UT-Martin Skyhawks rout the Howard Bison, 59-23. Howard shot just 10-38 from the field (26%) and trailed 32-9 at the half. Joel Chen scored 25 points (More than all Howard players combined), and grabbed 8 rebounds. No player on Howard scored more than 6 points, which was accomplished by small forward Francisco Massie. The Skyhawks will travel to Mississippi to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

UT-Martin Blown Out of the Water, 83-48.

The UT-Martin Skyhawks were blasted by the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 83-48, the game after they took a 36-point win over Howard. Mississippi State, led by SF Willie Amerson who had 20 points, shot 58% from the field, and made 24 of 29 from the charity stripe. SG Evan Conway score 19 points for the UT-Martin Skyhawks, who shot only 35 percent from the field. UT-Martin had the lead just once (9-8) and trailed by as many as 38 points. The Skyhawks will face with Arkansas State Red Wolves on the road on the 29th for their next contest.

UT-Martin Loses In Heartbreaker

Arkansas State (2-3) nearly blew a 12-point lead in the closing minutes in a defeat of the UT-Martin Skyhawks, 77-75. They lead 73-61 before UT-Martin hit a series of desperation 3-pointers to put themselves back into the game. Arkansas State shot over 50% while shooting 18 free throws and making 14 of them. They had a 9-point lead at halftime before extending it to as many as 15 later on. The UT-Martin Skyhawks will have to play the St. Peter's(NJ) Peacocks(1-4) on December 2nd on the road. After the game, Kevin Jackson interviewed about how his team came back, and stated:
"It was very disappointing that we fought so hard at the end, but we could not win. We just need to play better from the get-go like we did against Howard"

Set The Tone Early, So You Don't Have To Do It Later

The UT-Martin Skyhawks(2-2) defeated the St Peter's Peacocks(1-5), 79-61 on December 2nd. UT-Martin set the tone early by taking a 13-point halftime lead and never looked back winning by 18 points. Evan Conway score 14 points, and Chas Walls and Kevin Gulong each score 11 points for the Skyhawks. Solomon Blassingame scored 18 points for St. Peter's, as he was the only player who scored in double figures for them.
