Hayward Scores Career-High 39 as Jazz Pick Up 4th Win of Season

In their fourth straight game away from Salt Lake City, the Utah Jazz were able to come away with yet another victory on this Eastern Conference road trip. Gordon Hayward scored a career-high 39 points as it seemed he just could not miss from the field. Enes Kanter pitched in 18 and 18, Derrick Favors had 7 and 10, Trey Burke had 12 and 7 with 3 steals, and Jeremy Evans had 11 and 9 coming off the bench along with 3 blocks.

The Raptors only had 3 players score in double-digits, with Gay scoring 35, DeRozan scoring 21, and Lowry scoring 20. Gay shot an excellent 6-8 from three, but it wasn't enough for Toronto to overcome the Jazz.

"Well it was just a great win for us. It was awesome seeing Gordon and Enes rise to the occasion and perform like All-Stars. Then of course you have Jeremy coming off the bench, and he was just all over the place tonight, making plays, hitting shots. We're looking forward to coming home and playing at Energy Solutions for a little bit. Tired of the East Coast."

The Jazz finish the 4-game East Coast road trip with a 3-1 record, beating Brooklyn, Boston, and Toronto, while losing to the Bulls in Chicago. Gordon Hayward has shined in this road trip, averaging 23.8 points per game. Derrick Favors also had a solid trip, averaging 15.8 PPG, 7.8 RPG, and 2.3 BPG. Enes Kanter averaged 15.8 PPG and 7.8 RPG as well.

Favors' Big Night Gives Jazz 5th Win

The Utah Jazz continue their solid play as they get a victory over division rival Denver Nuggets. Derrick Favors dominated the glass and the Denver defense, going off for 19 points and 16 boards. Gordon Hayward also had 19 points, with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 blocks, and a steal. The Jazz outrebounded Denver by 11 and had 15 blocks on the night. Alec Burks had 18 points off the bench as well.

For Denver, their bench just never got going. It was up to the starting lineup to produce almost all night offensively, and the undersized lineup with Ty Lawson and Nate Robinson in the backcourt was just abused on both ends by Burke and Hayward.

The Jazz improve to 5-3 on the season.

Jazz/Hawks Make Deal Featuring 5 Players

November 11th, 2013

The Utah Jazz have decided to move offseason acquisitions Brandon Rush and Richard Jefferson to Atlanta. In return, they will receive former Jazzmen Kyle Korver and DeMarre Carroll, as well as Gordon Hayward's former Butler teammate Shelvin mack.

Jazz Trade:
Richard Jefferson (1 YR, $11.05M), Brandon Rush (1 YR, $4.00M)

Hawks Trade:
Kyle Korver (4 YRS, $24.00M), DeMarre Carroll (2 YRS, $5.00M), Shelvin Mack (1 YR, $884K)

Analysis:

For Utah, they bring in guys familiar with the Jazz system and culture. They also bring in a familiar face in Shelvin Mack, Hayward's former teammate at Butler University. The Jazz had been bouncing Jefferson in and out of the starting lineup, while Rush was sitting at the end of the bench, struggling to find time on the court on his return from his ACL tear last season.

For Atlanta, it's all about the money. Jefferson's $11,000,000 comes right off the books in the offseason, as well as Rush's $4,000,000. They get rid of Korver's 4-year contract, as well as DeMarre's 2-year deal, and they can hit free agency hard this offseason.

The Hawks are just 1-6 on the season, while Utah has gotten off to an unexpected 5-3 start.

Jazz Lose @ Home To Pelicans

November 13th, 2013

The Jazz lost their 4th game of the season and their 3rd game at home tonight against the Pelicans. 2 days after trading for Kyle Korver, DeMarre Carroll, and Shelvin Mack, all 3 were on the active roster tonight. Carroll was in the starting lineup, and though he struggled from the field, he played well defensively. Korver shot a perfect 3-3 from the field and 2-2 from behind the arc. Mack had 2 assists and 2 points in 9 minutes.

The Pelicans were just hot from the 3-point line, hitting 50% of their attempts, and Eric Gordon shot 13-20 en route to a 36 point effort.

The Jazz play one more in Salt Lake against San Antonio on the 15th, then it's off to Golden State for a 1-game road trip.
