Explorers turn on a huge run to rout the Bearcats in tourney finale

A 4 point game at halftime erupted thanks to a shut down on defense that left the Bearcats offense spiraling out of control. The Bearcats were helpless and Mire Myles was the only player that much of anything going for him on the offensive end for the longest time, as a 4 point deficit grew to 22 at one point midway through the period. The Bearcats would mount a fierce rally and look as if they were about to come back and capture the Paradise Jam title, but the lead wouldn't shrink beyond a 9 point difference, as the offense would once again stall and the Explorers ran away with the victory.

The issues with this team is incredibly prevalent, and their weakness is at the 3 where an undersized Jordan Reed mans the position. Reed did finish with a rather impressive double double but was a liability on the defense end where his lack of height and athleticism was the downfall on the day, where Josh Price exploded for 21, while 2 guard Derrick Peterson put up 24 thanks in large to a lack of depth at the 2 that's caused by having such a hole at the 3.

The Bearcats had a rather impressive run through this tournament and escaping the first few weeks of the season at 4-2 is excellent for a team that struggled all of last year and nearly imploded, this is a team that could potentially be dangerous in the America East, and their upsets show that, but on a grander scale, a more complete team such as La Salle, will beat them 9 times out of 10 unless players make Herculean efforts much as Mire Myles had, but when opposing players are pulling in numbers such as 19 rebounds, and every opposing start in double digits for the scoring column, it's simply too much to overcome.

Sucks to lose a non-conference tourney in the championship game (Espcially if you were going after the attribute point).

Looks like Myles is one of those 3* who players much better then his rating.

It was rough, especially because it seemed that the opposition just flipped a switch at the end of the first half and suddenly clamped down on us, and our defense isn't too great, especially against better teams.

Myles is really streaky, he can go 9-12 for ~20 points or go 0-10, he is the perfect example of a hit or miss, and hopefully he continues to grow, he could be a big player down the road.

Losing streak extends to five

The Bearcats suffered a dehabilitating loss in the Paradise Jam finale to a superior La Salle Explorer squad, even so the team seemed to be reeling as the team fell for four consecutive games following. Welcoming the Brown Bears to their New York campus, Jordan Reed put on a show for the home crowd but despite his 26 points, the Brown Bears were able to claw their way to the top with a 70-65 victory, Leland King, their sophomore center came off the bench for 22 huge points against a weak Bearcats second unit.

With the Bearcats taking on a second Ivy League program in consecutive matches, the result would be the same, as the Bearcats caved in the second half to a Big Red team that refused to lose, Jordan Reed had another productive game going for 13 points and 9 rebounds, while Mire Myles seemed to disappear shooting just a clip above .250 from the field and .333 from beyond the arc.

The Lafayette Cougars are off to a huge start to their season and picked up win number 8 on the season, with only 2 losses thus far, the Bearcats were a push over, as two players picked up double doubles, while Dan Trist tied his season average with a game high 17 points. The loss sends the Bearcats home with their fourth consecutive loss.

Bringing the New Jersey Institute of Technology back to the Binghamton home crowd didn't yield much difference, in a battle between Jordan Reed and Terrence Smith, the two small forwards went back and fourth until the Highlanders eventually emerged on top. The game would goto overtime and it'd take until the final moments and a few shots from the charity stripe to give the Highlanders a 76-72 victory and the Bearcats their fifth straight loss.

Binghamton springboards road trip into 4 game winning streak

Marcus Thornton exploded for William and Mary as the point guard went off for 29 points on 9-20 shooting and added 3 assists to his statline, while Omar Prewitt added 15 points from the 3 slot, but the lack of depth and unity hurt the Tribe as the Bearcats emerged the victors, with a 70-64 decision. Jordan Reed had a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Marlon Beck had 11 points.

Mire Myles finally broke double digits for the first time since the Paradise Jam, with 11 points on 4-6 shooting, while Jordan Reed had 14 points, 2 steals and 2 blocks in a solid performance which also saw him add 7 rebounds. No Mount St. Mary's player broke double digits in any stat, as the Bearcats won convincingly as a one win team.

Coming in with two straight losses to Ivy League programs, Binghamton finally ended that streak as well. With three players breaking double digits, Beck (10), Myles (10) and Reed (21), which paved the way to a big 60-51 victory that left the Bearcats with one game left in the out of conference slate.

Jordan Reed once again led his team to victory, with 19 points and 8 rebounds shooting just shy of .500 from the field, while Yousef Yacob added .500 shooting from the field to the tune of 16 points from the bench. Curtis Gai was shut out on the boards but added 11 points in the paint. The Bearcats come on big with four straight wins turning into the conference slate.

Re: The Madness - Coaching Legacy of Tyler MacLeod

Failure to lift off

All talk of momentum in favor of the Bearcats came to a screeching halt as the team fell apart, the Bearcats found themselves incapable of doing much during an opening five game stretch that saw the Bearcats dip to the bottom of the conference pool and look like they wouldn't be able to come back out. Jordan Reed had a decent performance in his conference opener, but had very little help otherwise. Falling to the Catamounts in a 62-61 decision.

Once again, the Bearcats lost largely due to a lack of help for Jordan Reed, Reed had gone 7-8 from the stripe for an otherwise unspectacular performance that saw them yield little help against a very beatable New Hampshire squad, the Wildcats pounced the Bearcats, leaping out to a 32-20 first half lead that despite a huge second half, the Bearcats were unable to eclipse.

The Great Danes held down a team that was coming off two consecutive two-point losses and absolutely demoralized the squad, thanks entirely to their ability to shut down Jordan Reed, who went for only 7 points and 2-5 from the field, Nick Madray and Curtis Gai both hit double digit point totals in an odd matchup, but the Danes led by bench 2-guard, Anthony Odunsi put up a career game, going off for 31 points to effectively route the Bearcats almost singlehandedly, Odunsi's 31 points was more than the entire Bearcats point total for the first 24 minutes of the game.

With all forward momentum seemingly sapped from the Binghamton side, thye came out flat against a similarly skilled Stony Brook squad and were smashed by a team they should've beaten, the Bearcats seemed to not even bother coming out in the second half, scoring only 17 points in the second frame while Stony Brook pulled away with 29, extending a 6 point deficit to an 18 to conclude the game. Three players broke double digits including Jameel Warney who posted a double double.

Jordan Reed posted his worst came this season as he scored only 2 points, while Nick Madray had to carry the scoring load, going for 15 points but was relatively contained on the boards, amounting to only 3 rebounds and 2 assists to silence the rest of his game. Curtis Gai added 7 rebounds and Yousef Yacob had a strong showing off the bench with a 4-6 shooting performance. James Kennedy absolutely unleashed for the Terriers, scoring a career high 31 points against the Bearcats, while Watson Jr had 12 points and Mbargorba had 15.

Re: The Madness - Coaching Legacy of Tyler MacLeod

On a side:

This isn't the pace the whole dynasty is going to take, the first few years will definitely go by fast, as I'll mostly be simming all but key games (I'll still recap of course), and as the games get more meaning it'll slim down and end up at a game by game pace as I reach a more ideal locale.

Just to keep myself interested of course, and recaps will change, culminating in video highlights from games at higher colleges (a bit of a metaphor for the increased school budget).

Hope everyone is enjoying thus far as the first season winds down!

Jordan Reed key part of .500 run through next six conference games

It's impossible to understate how much of the Bearcats prowess falls upon the shoulders of junior shooting guard/small forward Jordan Reed, the junior plays the biggest role on the team as he is expected to score 15-20 a night while getting a good amount of rebounds as well. For the most part he lives up to the hype, he doesnt' excel behind the arc (he hasn't hit more than 1 3 pointer in a game in his career), and his prowess was on full display in the matchup against the Maine Black Bears as the junior scored 14 of his 18 in the second half as the Bearcats who were down 16-20 at the end of the first half unloaded to a 52-51 victory over the Black Bears who wasted XAvier Pollards 18 point 14 rebound performance, a testament to the Bearcats however was Pollard shot only .250 from the field (5-20) and 1-11 from beyond the arc.

@ UMBC (not pictured) L 72-78

UMBC hadn't come in very highly but got a performance for the ages out as their guards melded to a strong showing and turned away an opportunistic squad in Binghamton. Rodney Elliot piled on 22 , while Lanny Garrett added 14 and David Kadiri added solid production from the center slot with 10 points and 7 rebounds, Even so, the Bearcats smalls all had strong showings with Marlon Beck scoring 16 points on 4-5 3PT shooting, Myles added 10 on .500 shooting from the field and Jordan Reed notched 17 points and 7 rebounds of his own.

After their difficult to stomach loss to the UMBC Terriers, the Bearcats rebounded to an 8 point win keyed in by none other than Jordan Reed who received a good deal of help from the point guard slot as MArlon Beck added 13 points on .500 3PT shooting, Yousef Yacob also turned in a decent outing with 9 points from the bench.

Albany won yet again, thanks in large to the 18 point swing in performance between the two squads starting point guards while also ringing in an added 20 points from Odunsi who has terrorised the Bearcats this season. Beck went 0-7 from the field and was a nonfactor, and the team struggled to shoot, going only .373 from the field, a rather embarrassing figure, especially since the opposition shot .446. Albany completes their season sweep.

After getting swept in their season series with the Great Danes of Albany, the Bearcats pulled out their own brooms as they won in a decisive manner against an over matched Catamount side which fell 63-49 to a squad that played with a purpose. Jordan Reed played as a man possessed, scoring 21 points on .675 shooting from the field, while added 13 rebounds to his total and picking up only 1 foul while the rest of the starting unit accounted for 13 fouls. (Curtis Gai only picked up 1 as well.)

The Boston Terriers are the class of the America East and they put that on display today, once more knocking off an outclassed side in the Bearcats who at least played to make the second half watchable, but in front of their home crowd, the Terriers took care of business and swept the Bearcats, four starters broke double digits and Mbargorba added a double double.
