Re: AfO-OfA | Cleveland Cavaliers

Cavaliers Acquire Hill/Bazemore From Lakers

Cleveland, OH. -- Cleveland Cavaliers General Manager David Griffin announced today that the Cavs have acquired C Jordan Hill and SG Kent Bazemore from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for C Spencer Hawes and the Cavs 2014 2nd round pick.

Hawes, who was picked up from the Philadelphia 76ers, grew unhappy with his role with the team. Hawes had to move to a bench role after being the starting center for the 76ers for the past few years. In 27 games through the 2013-2014 season, Hawes is averaging 5.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg, and 1.0 apg while shooting 37% from the floor and 30% from three. With the move Hawes will join Pau Gasol on the Lakers front line and will be the perfect center for Mike D'Antonio's offense.

In return for the Hawes, the Cavs will be getting a great rebounder who was never really a great fit under D'Antonio's offense and a high flying two guard who could be a good defensive player. Hill only played 8 minutes a game in LA putting up 4.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg, and 1.2 bpg. Hill could see time at the center and power forward position.

Bazemore also saw limited court time with the Lakers getting around 3 minutes a game. Bazemore averaged 1.2 ppg, 1.2 rpg, and 0.2 spg while shooting 37% from the field.

Both players are expected to suit up for the Cavs as they take on the the Indiana Pacers.
