Backstory: The 2013-14 season saw the OKC Thunder struggle through injuries and limp to a 48-34 record in the regular season. The Thunder went into the play-offs as the 3 seed and matched up with the Denver Nuggest in the first round. Surpisingly the energetic Nuggest stormed to a 3-0 lead and what looked like an easy first round sweep. Kevin Durant was awakened from his slumber in game 4 and scored 40+ points in the next 4 games to lead the Thunder back. OKC then swept the Grizzlies and the 1 seed Clippers to found themselves in the NBA Finals against the two time defending NBA Champion Miami Heat.

The result: Thunder in 6 and Durant takes home the finals MVP.

Low scoring first quarter. Durant scores 11 and Sefolosha ends the quarter with a 3 at the buzzer. Harden leads the Rockets with 7.

Halftime

Caron Butler got hot to end the half scoring 10 consecutive points including a buzzer beating 18 footer. Headed into the half Durant and Harden are playing a game of chess. Harden in the lead with 22, Durant follows with 19.

End 3
Thunder 75 Rockets 76

The Thunder extended their lead to the largest margin of the game by either team at 6 points before the Rockets ended the quarter on a 10-2 run to take the lead. Durant and Harden both cooled off in the third scoring only 5 points combined.

4th quarter update:

Rockets run is now 23-6 as the Thunder take a timeout with 5 minutes remaining down 89-79.

BALL GAME! Rockets 106 Thunder 96

The late third early fourth run for the Rockets proved to be the difference as the Thunder were unable to overcome their offfensive woes during that stretch.
