Owner Mark Cuban made it very clear to his team that no one is guaranteed a spot on the roster. The Mavs owner is very frustrated that his team has not competed in the NBA Finals the last couple seasons even though his team has recently won an NBA title.
Cowboys
After another disappointing season, Jerry Jones has fired Jason Garrett. Sources close to the situation are claiming he is in talks with Jimmie Johnson. Jerry is most likely begging the former coach to come back and lead the team back to where it once was.
The Cowboys are cleaning house. Jason Witten, DeMarcus Ware and Tony Romo are all relocating this year. It appears that the Cowboys are looking to grab a quarterback in the draft.
TCU Football
Gary Patterson and his boys are ready to roll with the season just about to kick off.
This thread is going to follow all sports located in the Dallas area. May play some MLB 2K and NHL 09, not sure.

(Los Angeles) - What an incredible opening game of the season! Dallas looked like they were about to run away with it. And then Kobe just took over. Fade away jumpers with a hand in face did not bother him. Collison had a chance to put Dallas up 5, but missed both free throws. Only down three with 15 seconds left the Lakers brought it up. "I don't think they knew what to do. Antawn had the ball with under ten seconds left and I kept looking for him to pass to Kobe. Never happened, " Mayo shared during post-game news conference. Jamison pulled up and buried his first three of the game as time expired sending the game into overtime and the Staples Center into a frenzy.
Overtime is when OJ Mayo shined. He took over and willed the Mavericks to a huge win. It did help that Kobe couldn't hit the broadside of a barn during the overtime period.

Salt Lake City - The Jazz stayed in the game for the first half. But in the third quarter, the Mavs started to pull away and the game appeared it was heading to a blowout. Dallas had a 20 point lead in the third. But then, with a couple minutes left in the third, the Mavs' hot shooting cooled off. Utah cut the lead all the way down to three points. Again, just like last game, Mayo stepped up and took over the game. "In late game situations, I want the ball. I feel like I have the confidence of my teammates that I can and should be taking control...," explained Mayo. Mayo guided the team to a twelve point victory in Utah.
Next game will be at home against the Charlotte Bobcats.

Dallas -- OJ Mayo showed up when it mattered. The grimacing looks on Mayo's face showed he was not feeling like himself. The Dallas trainers told us that he just had either a stomach bug or got some food poisoning from today's lunch, but that he'd be fine. Rumors hit social media saying that Mayo just partied a bit too much the night before. Either way, Mayo played great in the 4th quarter. He had 12 points in the fourth including a 17 foot jumper at the buzzer that sent the fans into a deafening roar at the American Airlines Center. Dirk Nowitzki was a no show in the second half only making 2 of 12 of his shots from the field.
In their next game, Dallas hosts the Portland Trailblazers (1-2).

Kansas City Chiefs: I am puzzled on why the Chiefs chose o-line over wide receiver. Alex Smith desperately needs other weapons besides Bowe. Both Jordan Matthews and Corey Brown were available, but KC decided to pass on them. Fail.
Cleveland Browns: Tight end? The Browns already have a budding stud in Jordan Cameron and Anthony McCoy. Why waste a 1st round pick on a position that is already solid. Horrible.

Cowboys
The Cowboys' draft was fairly solid. CJ Mosley fell into the Cowboy's lap while Wilson and McCarron were both a reach. "I was completely aware that, according to the experts, we reached on Andrew and AJ. But I was aware that a couple teams were going to draft those two and we would not be able to draft them the next time we were to pick and so I pulled the trigger...," said Coach Johnson. It appears that Dallas had a decent draft. Now that Tony Romo was traded to Minnesota, it is time to usher in the McCarron era.
