NBA DRAFT at the Barclays Center
London sits with his father quietly. He glances at his black Givenchy suit, he smiled. He had the best suit at the Draft.
Benjamin:Now London, it doesn't matter where you go in the draft. What matters is what you do in games, ok?
London doesn't notice that his father is speaking to him, his eyes are locked onto the stage.
Benjamin:London! Did you hear what I said?
London:Father, can you please keep it down? I'm trying to focus!
Benjamin shakes his head at his hard headed son. But he sits back as Commissioner David Stern walks to the podium.
David Stern: Good evening and thank you for that enthusiastic Brooklyn Welcome. Welcome to the 2013 NBA Draft, this is my first time here at Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets. Thank you to everyone joing us tonight, if you aren't here, watching us on ESPN, or in more than 200 countries and territories. Watching us on Televison, or following along on NBA.Com and social media. And thank you to our passionate fans. *crowd boos* Who tuned in for another outstanding season, which saw the Miami Heat, win a second consecutive championship, in a NBA Finals for the ages. Tonight, is the culmination of years of dedication and hard work for the best young players in the world. As well as the family and friends who support them. I've been through a few of these, thirty years to be exact. All of them quite memorable. And I know the young men hoping to hear their names called tonight, cannot wait to join the NBA family. So lets begin. The first pick of the 2013 NBA Draft will be made by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Who have five minutes to make their selection.
London:They better call my name first, they just better.
Benjamin:Don't worry to much about it son.
David Stern:With the first pick,in the 2013 NBA Draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers select, Anthony Bennett, of Toronto Canada and the University of Las Vegas.
Everyone in the crowd is shocked, but London is livid.
London:WHAT! ARE YOU SERIOUS?
Benjamin clamps his hand over his sons mouth.
Benjamin:Just sit quietly until your name is called.
London sits and watches as Stern calls off other names. Oladipo, Porter.
David Stern:With the 4th pick, the Charlotte Bobcats select Cody Zeller out of Indiana.
Reporter:Projected #1 Pick has now slid down 4 spots! Completely unprecedented. The Phoenix suns are now on the clock.
London sits with his head in his hands. Angry.
David Stern:With the 5th Pick, the Phoenix Suns select London Forrest from Olympiacos B.C.
the crowd cheers loudly, but London isn't satisfied. He rises and walks to the podium, clearly angry that he fell to the Suns. Grabs the Hat and Jersey and walks off stage.
