The same Calderon who had the possibility of going 50/40/90 last season is now ****. He just pulled a J.R. Smith lol.
This made me laugh a lot harder than it should have lmao. I really dont even know what happened with him man. He's been playing like *** this year. I really think he was the reason we had such a bad start. Considering since Larkin has been a starter, the Knicks are 6-3 since he got benched.

Yeah we do. Really big roster overhaul = chemistry issues in the beginning, but hopefully it all gels quickly.

Just wanted to mark this as the day the acquisition of Kendrick Perkins sparked a debate about stacking your team.
Calderon: " Shane is a capable scorer...but his basketball knowledge and I.Q. are relatively low."
Dropxem: How you doing Knicks Nation? "Dropxem" here droppin' some knowledge with the help of your favorite Knicks players. Today I have with me the recently benched Jose Calderon. How's it been Jose?
Jose Calderon: Hey, how are you... yeah, you know, I've been better. Like you said, with the recent transition to the bench it's been a little frustrating, a little rough, but I've been staying positive, as positive as I can - given the circumstances.
D: Do you think you deserve to be on the bench? According to Fisher's comments, he thinks you can't handle big minutes anymore and from what I've heard, Larkin's been killing you in practice. Any problems with that?
JC: I mean, of course not. You never feel like you should be benched when you're giving your all to the team. The organization knew what they were getting with me when they brought me here and announced me as the starter. If they wanted a young, scoring guard, then I think that should have been made apparent earlier. When you make it clear of your direction, I think lapses between players and coaches happen a lot less. And as far as not being able to handle big minutes, I've never heard that from Coach Fisher personally, but I've read the reports and know that's the general consensus around here and feel its ridiculous. I know I can produce at a high level as a starter for a team that needs a distributor, a guy to make the right decisions on the court.
D: So are you saying Shane Larkin can't make right decisions on the court? Dig a little deeper Jose. We all want to know. You think Larkin cant produce like you can don't you? Don't worry man, I wont put everything in the article. Just let me know personally. What are you really thinking?
JC: Shane is a capable scorer, but his basketball knowledge and I.Q.--from what I've seen--are relatively low. His inexperience has showed, glaringly at times but has been covered up by his unexpected production. I think as a scorer, he's obviously ahead of me. Maybe not in pure shooting, but all-around scoring, he's got the edge. As far as playmaking goes, he's not in that mindset. He's not there yet. I see him as a small shooting guard playing point guard. With the firepower that this organization has in it's lineup already in Melo, Monroe, Gasol, Iman - a facilitator playing relevant minutes seems more than necessary.
D: Well, statistically speaking, calling yourself a facilitator is a bit of a stretch. Mentioning the firepower in the lineup and then backing up your claims with only 5 assists a game? Ty Lawson (who is someone rumored to be swapped with you) is averaging 9 with the role players Denver has starting. So it must not be all you. Who on the offense isn't pulling their weight Jose? Lets get a little personal.
JC: Being a facilitator is a mindset, I don't focus on stats--they're pretty irrelevant to me. For me, it's keeping the offense moving and not letting it get stagnant. If I can make a pass to a teammate who finds another teammate for an open look--I'll make that pass. It's a way of looking at the game and I don't know if Shane WILL make that pass. With the current lineup, there isn't one person with that mindset--the make the right play mindset. There's a lot of hero ball, me-first ball being played, so if my assist numbers are what got me benched, then you'd have to point to the offensive play calling that has them where they are. The blame is everywhere depending on who you ask, I guess.
D: Some really interesting and feisty points Jose, but we're going to move on to a new topic. Apparently an unnamed source reported that the your benching wasn't truly from a statistical standpoint. Allegedly, you're being shopped by the Knicks front office. Places like Denver,Memphis,Detroit and New Orleans have been leaked. Have you heard about this and what are your thoughts on it?
JC: I mean of course you hear about all the rumors, and some are intriguing, but you can never take these reports with more than a grain of salt until something is official. You don't want to start looking ahead and ruin the present. Despite the turmoil that you see, the disagreements what have you, I am a professional and am a member of the New York Knicks currently so that's where my primary focus lies. Whatever is going to happen will happen and until then, I'm focused on helping the Knicks win and improving my value in this league.
D: I understand that completely Jose. But if it was without question you were being dealt, which of these teams would you want to go to and name one player you would bring with you?
JC: Man, you like to put me on the spot don't you? (laughs) No but I like that, you're curious to what a honestly thinks, that's a great thing in a reporter. Um, let's see... first off, I'm bringing Timmy [Hardaway Jr.] with me because as a point guard, you can never have too many shooters around you. And as far as a location, I think New Orleans would be a fantastic place to play, both on and off the court. With Anthony Davis and all the young talent they have there, they play a very exciting brand of basketball. Plus, New Orleans has been a huge fascination of mine, especially since the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, I think in the right situation, it would be really special to play there and give back to the people of Louisiana.
D: Thats what got me this job Jose haha. Its been great having you Jose. I hope you can fight your way back and prove you belong with the starters. Any last words for the fans or the media or the F.O?
JC: I want everyone to know that I don't take anything personally. The Spanish people, we're very prideful people, so when things like this happen, we may get offended and frustrated, but our pride won't let that interfere with anything, especially our work output. I will work as hard as I can to compete for whatever the organization decides my future is in this league. It's been a pleasure to speak with you today, thank you and go Knicks.
D: D: There you have it Knicks Nation. This has been "Dropxem" droppin' some knowledge with your 2015-2016 PG Jose Calderon. I'll see you all next week!

Larkin: " Take it like a man....not start talkin' sh*t to the press"
Dropxem: How you doing Knicks Nation? "Dropxem" here droppin' some knowledge with the help of your favorite Knicks players. Today I have with me the recently promoted Shane Larkin . I heard you had something to say Shane?
Shane Larkin: Yep, you know me, or, at least you will soon enough (chuckles), I was going to say that I was celebrating being a starter but that'd be too cliche, but the something I got to say is to Old Man Calderon.
Man, why you gotta be coming out and start talkin' shade like nobody would notice? My basketball IQ is 'relatively low'? Man, f*ck you, at least I can actually do something other than pass the ball, you're damn right I'm inexperienced, but I wanted to change that, I wanted to learn from you, and you took me under your wing, and I was learning from you, then I applied what I learned and took your job, not that it was intentional, but this is basketball man, take it like a man, and not start talkin' sh*t to the press or this guy (gestures to DropxEm).
D: Woah Shane. Seems like there's a lot of anger inside of you right now. So what I'm understanding is that you feel betrayed by someone you saw as a mentor? I also noticed you said "I applied what I learned". What is it exactly that you feel secured the job?
SL: You're damn right I feel betrayed, I thought we were bros. (Takes a deep breath and looks visibly calmer) Sorry about that, just needed to get that off my chest.
What do I feel that secured the starting PG job? Well, a lot of things, I think that all-around scoring that most PGs have now-a-days helps, you can never have too many scoring options, and my passing ability, I'm not a facilitator, like SOMEBODY claims to be. But I think I can pass the ball pretty darn well. Plus I feel like it's the opportunities, like when I was playin' off the bench, I was tearing it up with C. Earl and Timmy Jr.
And now that I'm with the starters, that same mentality is there, you know the one, "we don't play heroball, we play teamball". Greg and Marc both know that if they're open, they get the ball. Coach Fisher says if we see an opportunity to score, take it. And that's what I do, I worry about my stats last and go right for my teammates, because that's what I'm supposed to do.
D: So for clarification you see yourself as a score-first guard? And if so, what is it that helps you gel with Melo's abilities?
SL: It's a game-to-game basis, depending on the team, I take a good hard long look at the other team and what they're trying to do, and I adjust my style towards that, sometimes I know I need to score more, as the other team is more focused on covering Melo, Greg or Marc, leaving me and Shump to pick up the slack.
How does my style gel with Carmelo?
Well, we get together every now and then and Melo gives me tips on how to improve my game, it's been this way since I got the new starting job, he'll tell me what's best for what situation and I'll do it.
D: Sounds like Mr.Larkin has a new mentor haha. Thats great Shane. Its always smart to get on your team's star player's good side. Now, you know on the "dropxem show" there's ALWAYS negative comments. So I was on poastingandtoasting.com and saw a comment from Andy Johnson saying "We need to dump Larkin. He's a selfish kid and he's only 5'11"! What kind of defense can he play on guards like Westbrook and Wall?" Well in truth Shane, you are below ideal height for a point guard, so how do you defend those larger guards? And do you let comments like this get to you?
SL: Footwork, footwork, footwork. Like Kobe Bryant said, positioning matters. I always make sure I'm in position so I can make that shot for Wall and Westbrook just a little bit harder, and it's worked for me so far so I fail to see why it wouldn't continue to work, and I take them with a grain of salt, like Kaepernick does, except I don't favorite them on twitter (laughs).
D: Shane, you've been great today. Any last words for fans, fellow teammates or the F.O?
SL: All I can say is, fans keep coming out for us, through thick and thin. To my fellow teammates, I love you all, work your hardest and win.
