Re: Do You Believe? - An Orlando Magic Franchise Story(NBA 2k15/PS4)

Wall's dunk sparks Washington to win

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The thing that gnawed at Washington coach Randy Wittman most about his team's season-opening loss at Miami was its lack of intensity late in the game.

The Wizards took notice in their second outing of the season.

With just under four minutes remaining in the game and the score tied, John Wall threw down a thunderous dunk and Washington ran away for a 104-94 win over the Orlando Magic.

New off-season addition Paul Pierce led the Wizards with 34 points on 14 of 21 shooting; including a nine for nine start to the game, and grabbed 8 rebounds.

Wall had an off night before his changing dunk, hitting just 4 of 13 shots, but he did dish out 9 assists. Andre Miller filled for Wall during his cold stretches and ended the game the 16 assists and 11 points.

The Magic trailed by three at the half, and led by 4 entering the fourth quarter, only to be outscored 31-17 in the final quarter.

Channing Fyre made his start for the Magic after joining the team in the offseason and sitting out the opener(knee). His impact was immediate as he led Orlando with 20 points including 4 of 5 from three point range.

Nik Vucevic had his second straight double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Evan Fournier started at SG again for the injured Oladipo and added 16 points. Rookie PG Elfrid Payton looked good again with 7 points and 11 assists.

Orlando's other first round pick, Aaron Gordon, made a lot of noise despite just 12 minutes of playing time he scored 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.

Raptors Drop Magic to 0-3

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Three games into the season and the Orlando Magic are off to a rough start.

The Toronto Raptors held off a late charge to beat the Magic for the 8th straight time.

All five Raptors starters scored in double figures, led by DeMar DeRozan's 24 points. Jonas Valanciunas grabbed 18 rebounds to got with 16 points. Terrence Ross added 17 and, Kyle Lowry 16 and Patrick Patterson had 10.

"It's not easy trying to get everyone involved, but we've got a good group of guys and no one is being selfish so far," Lowry said.

Tobias Harris scored 33 points for the Magic, who have lost three straight. Rookie point guard had Elfrid Payton and Nikola Vucevic both had double-doubles. Payton scored 10 points and dished out 11 assists and Vucevic had 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Orlando did make it a game late coming within 4 points of the Raptors but ultimately fell short.

"I think we're going to continue to build on the good things and reinforce that guys have been focused at the defensive end and that will give you a chance to win games," Magic coach Jacque Vaughn said.

Ben Gordon scored 16 points off the bench and will now have to compete for minutes at shooting guard as Victor Oladipo is expected to return to the line-up for the next game. Kyle O'Quinn, who also missed the past two games, is also expected to return. Maurice Harkless, who started 41 games last season but didn't play in the first two, saw his first action this season. He had four points and two rebounds in 17 minutes.

Re: Do You Believe? - An Orlando Magic Franchise Story(NBA 2k15/PS4)

Derrick Rose scores 28 as Bulls hold off Magic

CHICAGO -- At times last season the Chicago Bulls struggled to close out games without the services of Derrick Rose.

They had no such problem Tuesday night.

Rose scored 28 points and carried the Bulls down the stretch as they improved to 4-0 with an 89-81 over the Orlando Magic.

"He's got a quick array of shots and he knows what he has to do," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "When he needed to score, he scored. He did a really great job of playmaking."

Joakim Noah and Pau Gasol were the only other Chicago players in double figures with 10 points each. Noah added 15 rebounds while Gasol had 9.

Victor Oladipo made his first appearance of the season and led the Magic with 23 points in 30 minutes. Tobias Harris followed his 33 point performance against Toronto with 21 and Nik Vucevic made it 4 straight double-doubles with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

"Quite simply we're not at their level. Not close," Orlando coach Jacque Vaughn said. "And that's OK; I'm not saying that crying or complaining. That's just the way it is. You've got to face reality. We've got to put in the work to reach that level, because right now we're not close to that level of play."

Orlando got off a better start than the Bulls and led by 5 after the first quarter.

Chicago took control behind a 33-16 second quarter and used a 25-18 fourth quarter to seal the victory.

"They just play hard," Oladipo said of the Bulls. "Everybody did what they have to do. Guys came off the bench. They know what they had to do in the game. They didn't stay outside of their boundaries. ... We've got to be the same way."

Re: Do You Believe? - An Orlando Magic Franchise Story(NBA 2k15/PS4)

Magic get first win of the season over Sixers

PHILADELPHIA -- Players were high-fiving and telling jokes in the giddy postgame locker room.

It was a rare and pleasant atmosphere for the Orlando Magic, at least so far this season.

Nik Vucevic grabbed 21 rebounds to go with 14 points, Tobias Harris scored 18 points, and Victor Oladipo dished out 10 assists along with 17 points as the Magic defeated the Philadelphia Seventy-Sixers 100-79.

"It feels great," said forward Maurice Harkless. "Guys feel good about themselves and it shows what hard work can do. There are a lot of smiles around here for a change."

Channing Frye contributed 12 points hitting both his three point attempts and Elfrid Payton had 12 points and 7 assists.

Jason Richardson had 20 points to lead the Sixers who fell to 0-5. Michael Carter-Williams scored 16 points to go with 8 assists. Nerlens Noel led Philadelphia with 15 rebounds.

Orlando led by 8 at halftime but it was the 28-16 third quarter that put the game away.

"I like that we were poised," said Orlando coach Jacque Vaughn. "We didn't crumble."

"We worked so hard for this and we hoped it would come," Frye said. "It started with our energy and carried on through the team. We played with great intensity on defense and we made shots. It's just a great win and I'm happy for our whole team."
