Re: We Are One: a Los Angeles Clippers MyLeague

November 8th, 2014

The Clippers are off to a (simmed) 3-2 start (same as real life.) The 3-2 record has the Clippers standing at seventh in the Western Conference, and third in the Pacific Division. Los Angeles has dropped all the way to #13 in most power rankings. The Clippers lost to their bitter rival, the Los Angeles Lakers, in the series opener and also lost to divisional/geographic foe the Sacramento Kings.

The Clippers are on a two game win streak as they prepare for Saturday's game with the Portland Trailblazers.

Glen Davis Hurt For 8-10 Weeks With Strained Groin

Forward Glen Davis is hurt for 8-10 weeks with a strained groin. Los Angeles Clippers coach Doc Rivers, rather than playing Davis hurt, is having the big man reserve sit until he is healthy.

"Davis has been called one of the league's best reserves. I agree with that statement. Because of that, I don't want to do any further damage or have him worsen the injury. Davis will sit, and be inactive, until he's ready to go. We'll need him healthy down the stretch and certainly in the playoffs. So, we need to make sure he's healthy, there's no point risking it this early in the season. I'm confident in the depth of the team." Doc Rivers stated.

Miami Heat Guard Dwayne Wade Out 1-2 Weeks With Broken Ribs

Miami lost their star, LeBron James, to free agency this summer. Already facing the arduous task of restructuring the team without him, the Heat will be without one of the players that was (expected to be) the star of this team, Dwayne Wade. Wade will be out for a week or two as he recovers from broken ribs. Now, it seems that Chris Bosh must handle the entire load for the offense in Wade's absence. Is he up to the task?

Kings’ Derrick Williams Out 4-6 Weeks Broken Leg, Rudy Gay Hurt 2-4 Weeks Strained Groin

The Kings are off to a slow start thanks in no small part due to injuries to Derrick Williams and star Rudy Gay.

Lakers’ Nick Young Suffers Torn Hand Ligament, Out 2-4 Months, Rookie Julius Randle Has a Fractured Leg, Will Miss His Entire Rookie Season

Los Angeles' only win thus far has been against their nemesis, the Los Angeles Clippers. Otherwise, the Lakers are 0-4, and are without Nick Young for at least two months. Promising first round draft pick rookie Julius Randle will miss his entire season after suffering a fractured leg in the season opener.

OKC Gets Blitzed With Injuries

Thunder Fans, we feel for you. Last season's MVP, star Kevin Durant, will miss 6-8 weeks. Secondary star Russell Westbrook, expected to carry the team, will also miss 6-8 weeks due to injury.Anthony Morrow is hurt for 2-4 weeks with a strained MCL. Perry Jones is hurt for a week or two with a bruised knee. Grant Jerrett is out 2-4 months with a broken ankle.Andre Roberson is also hurt for 1-2 weeks with a sprained foot.

No George? No Problem!

Raise your hand of you thought the Pacers would start 6-0 even though their star Paul George will miss the entire season? Now put your hand down, you liar. Without George, the Pacers are indeed 6-0. Indiana was expected to come back to mediocrity after steadily ascending to the top of the Eastern Conference the last few seasons. Instead, a cohesive team effort has kept the Pacers where they were last year. Somehow, the Pacers are winning even with several more injuries: SG CJ Watson (hurt 1-2 weeks bruised heel) C Ian Mahinmi (hurt 1-2 weeks brusied shoulder) SG/SF CJ Miles (day to day migraine) Guard Rodney Stuckey (day to day sore foot), Guard George Hill (day to day bruised knee.) Frank Vogel deserves so much credit.

Undefeated: the Hornets, Spurs, and Nuggets are also undefeated.

Oklahoma City is 1-5 thanks to all of the injuries they are dealing with.

Pacific Division Standings (11/8/14)

1 5-1 Phoenix Suns
2 3-1 Golden State Warriors
3 3-2 Los Angeles Clippers
4 2-4 Sacramento Kings
5 1-4 Los Angeles Lakers

The Suns are undefeated within the division, and 5-1 in conference play. The Suns are on a four game winning streak. Golden State is 2-1 in the division, and 3-1 within the conference. The Clippers are 3-2 in the conference but just 1-2 in the division. The Kings have lost 3 straight. The Lakers have lost 2 straight.

NBA Playoff Picture (11/8/14)

Western Conference:

1. Denver Nuggets (5-0)
2. San Antonio Spurs (4-0)
3. Phoenix Suns (5-1)
4. Houston Rockets (5-1)
5. Golden State Warriors (3-1)
6. New Orleans Pelicans (3-1)
7. Los Angeles Clippers (3-2)
8. Portland Trailblazers (2-3)

9th- Minnesota Timberwolves (2-3, 0-1 in conference) Sacramento Kings 2-4

1. Indiana Pacers (6-0)
2. Charlotte Hornets (6-0)
3. Chicago Bulls (5-1)
4. Cleveland Cavaliers (3-2)
5. Detroit Pistons (3-2)
6. Miami Heat (3-2)
7. Washington Wizards (3-3)
8. New York Knicks (2-4)

In the hunt: 2-4 Raptors, 2-4 76ers, 2-4 Bucks
