Hot: Kobe Bryant. Bryant bounced back from a horrible shooting game on opening night with a vintage 40 point explosion against the long time rival Suns. The Mamba shot 15-of-29 from the field and added 6 assist and 2 blocks to his scoring outburst. And the icing on the cake was his game winning three in overtime.

Not: Goran Dragic. The reining most improved winner was completely shut-down by Wesley Johnson. Lakers coach Byron Scott wanted to conserve Kobe's energy so Johnson got the defensive nod. Dragic finished wit 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assist, but only went 3-of-18 from the field including 1-of-6 from behind the arc.

Quotable: "I had a lot of good looks all game long. They singled covered me the entire night even after the big first quarter I had. Guess they thought they were guarding the 40th best player in the league." Lakers SG Kobe Bryant.

X-Factor: Wesley Johnson. The former lottery pick exploded for 19 points and 6 rebounds while going 7-of-12 from the field and 50% from three. Johnson also brought it on the defensive end as he contained Goran Dragic to just 8 total points.

Rookie Watch: Tyler Ennis. In 9 minutes off the bench. Ennis finished with 4 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assist. Impressive numbers in limited action.

Up Next: The Lakers will now have a day off before they head back home to take on the Los Angeles Clippers in act one of the Battle of LA.

Hot: Chris Paul. Paul absolutely had his way with the Lakers points guards on his way to a season high 33 point performance on 15-of-25 shooting from the field. CP3 also showed his teammates some love by dishing about a team high 8 assist in the shootout win over their hallway rivals.

Not: Carls Boozer. Boozer pulled a no show as he finished with just 2 points in nearly 30 minutes of action. Boozer did have 11 rebounds but it doesn't hid his pitiful shooting and pitiful defense performance. Also didn't help that he let Blake Griffin stroll right to the basket all game long.

Quotable: "I wasn't really aggressive in our first game of the season so I decided that to put the team on my back and lead the way. No rah rah speech, just wanted to lead by example." Clipper PG Chris Paul

By The Numbers: 51. The Clippers shot 51% from the field and probably could've shot a higher percentage if they didn;t miss a lot of wide open three balls.

Rookie Watch: Jordan Clarkson. The Lakers 2nd round pick had his best game as a pro finishing with 10 points and 2 assist off the bench, leading a Lakers bench that finished with 45 points from their reserves.

Up Next Things don't get any easier for the Lakers has they hit the road tomorrow night to take the Splash Brothers and the Golden State Warriors.

Hot: Ed Davis. The former lottery pick had a career night against the Warriors bigs as he finished with a career high 32 points to go with 11 rebounds in 28 minutes. Davis and the Lakers guards ran the pick and roll to perfection, getting Davis a lot of easy looks, hence his 15-of-18 shooting from the field. Davis was playing so well he regulated Carlos Boozer to just 17 minutes.

Not: Andrew Bogut. The Warriors' defensive anchor was nowhere to be found has Davis had a field day scoring inside. Bogut was quiet on the offensive end to with just 2 points on 1-of-7 shooting in 31 minutes. The lone bright spot for the Aussie was his team high 13 rebounds in the losing effort.

Quotable: "Man I was just out there playing ball like I always do you know, nothing special. Props to my teammates for getting the ball in easy position to score." Lakers C Ed Davis.

X-Factor: Kobe Bryant. You usually don't see the Black Mamba here but against GSW he was played the role as a decoy to the tee. Bryant had a great all around game with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assist while shooting 50% from the floor and from three point land.

Rookie Watch: Jordan Clarkson. Clarkson had another efficient night off the bench pumping in 10 points while grabbing 2 rebounds and dishing out 2 assist.

Up Next: The Lakers head back home to host the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night.

Re: Davis' Career Night Leads Lakers Past Warriors

What are you plans for this season? The West is extremely tough and I highly doubt the Lakers will even contend for the eighth seed. Are you looking toward free agency or do you think the team they currently have just needs to develop?

Good luck.
