High school days- DeShawn attend high school in Chicago. He lived on the street for most of high school. He was in trouble all of the time. In fact, he missed all of his Junior year because he robbed a 711 just to feed his family of 12. During his Junior year, he really started to practice a lot. As a Senior he was a monster. He started as Center for his high school team. He led them all the way to the state championship, before losing to their rival school.

Getting Recruited-During his senior year DeShawn posted a 22.3 PPG, 11 RPG, and 1.5 BPG. You would think with stats like that Duke and North Carolina should be all over him. That wasn't the case though, because he didn't have a good work ethic, and was in trouble all the time. There were 3 schools that offered him scholarships though. UNI, Florida State, and Texas Tech. He chose to go to UNI, because his uncle was a professor there, and he could live with him.

College Days-DeShawn came in and made an immediate impact. He started all four years for the Panthers. During his first 3 years, they finished with a sub .500 record. But, his Senior year would be different. He got all of his team together, and they worked out every single day of the year. No excuses. Not Christmas. Not Thanksgiving. Nothing. They worked out all day. His senior year, the Panthers won there conference earning an auto bid to the tourney. They made it in as a 12 seed. They upset Ohio State in the first round, in which DeShawn had 32 points. In the 2nd round, they beat the University of California. They were excited, but in the Sweet 16, they fell short to the number 1 seed Kansas.

College Stat-line-18 PPG, 8.3 RPG, and 2.3 BPG.

Draft Projection-DeShawn was invited to the rookie showcase game in NYC. If he performs well, experts say he could fall in the lottery.

DeShawn Washington made the go ahead basket with 45 seconds to go. He then burried 2 clutch free throws with .8 seconds left. DeShawn finished with a stat line of 19 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assist. He also added a block.

The good:We liked the way that he took control of the game at the end. We also liked the way he crashed the boards
The bad:He didn't pass the ball as well as he did in college
The Ugly:Turnovers. He had 4. Needs to get over those.

After complaining to his coach about not getting to play, DeShawn got just the break he needed. Derreck Favors got hurt. The coach decided to turn the game over to him. Even though they lost the game, he still made the most out of it.
He finished with 9 points, 3 blocks, and 3 boards. Ennis Kanter was also hurt in today's game with an ankle sprain. He will be out for 1-2 weeks.

Game 4:
DeShawn got his first minutes that he was supposed to get against the Nets. It wasn't a lot of minutes, but it was minutes. The Jazz think they found a gem in Washington. He finished with 8 points and no boards or blocks. The Jazz also lost, and are now 1-3.
