The Legacy of Tommy Holt (NCAA Basketball 10)

Harvard Hires New Basketball Head Coach

CAMBRIDGE, MA - Today marks the day of a new era in terms of Harvard men's basketball. Tommy Amaker left for an assistant coaching position within Division I. Last year the Harvard Crimson went 8-22, a rather disappointing season for the Crimson.
Tommy Holt, 35 years old, has been named the new coach for the 2009-10 season. He has been the head coach at the Division II school Slippery Rock University for 10 years. He graduated from Duquesne University in 1995. While at Duquesne he was the star guard. He helped lead the Dukes to several NCAA tournament appearances while playing for Duquesne. At Slippery Rock, he turned the program around. Slippery Rock had a very lack luster program for several years prior to the arrival of Tommy Holt. After 4 years Tommy Holt managed to get his first winning season while at Slippery Rock. He continued to have strong winning seasons up until his departure after this previous season. During his 10 year tenure Tommy Holt managed to win 3 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships.
Tommy Holt now looks to turn around yet another program. Harvard is coming off of a tough year. The Crimson have some promise though. There are 4 sophomores in the starting lineup. Holt looks to give the Crimson at least a 10 win season. It is going to be a difficult road ahead, but Holt has accomplished a difficult feat before and has confidence that he can do it again.

PFKeith Wright (77) So.Doug Miller (65) Sr.Pat Magnarelli (60) Sr.Andrew Van Nest (60) So.
CPeter Swiatek (68) So.

The Harvard Crimson have a rather interesting set up this year. They are lacking back ups for SG and C. However, a surplus of PG and PF can help fill in these spots. Experts are saying that the bench is weak and can cause the starters to have to play a lot of minutes. The starters are very good but 5 players do not make a team. The bench is really going to have to come through if the Crimson are going to try and make a run throughout the season.

CAMBRIDGE, MA - Harvard is one of many teams to start play on the first day of the NCAA basketball season. Today marks the beginning of the Tommy Holt era. UC Riverside from the Big West were the Crimson's opponents. The game was close for about 5 minutes into the first half. Then the Harvard shooters started to get warmed up. Boehme and Lin were leading the Crimson towards a double digit lead going into halftime. The second half was even more domination by Harvard. UC Riverside would be held scoreless for several minutes at a time. Harvard at times would push the ball down the floor but often conformed to the half-court pace that UC Riverside was running. Either way, the Crimson managed to score on several possessions. One weakness that was made obvious today was the amount of minutes that the starters are going to be collecting. 3 of the 5 starters played for 30 minutes in the game today. This could be rough later in the season, especially during conference play. Only time will tell what side effects this might have for Harvard. Regardless, today was a great win for Harvard and a great start to the Tommy Holt Era.

Haha maybe I can schedule them next year. I went with the default schedule. If a coach were coming in odds are they wouldn't get the chance to schedule because it would already be finalized. That was my mentality. Linsanity worked out alright for me in the first game. I wanna try to get more assists out of him though. I kind of lacked in the assists.
