UT-Martin Schedule Released, Coaches Comments



Martin,TN: The official Seahawks basketball schedule was released earlier today. It will feature a lot of road games early on, and even a Pre-season tournament. Coach Banks said "We are looking forward to the tough competition early on in the season. We hope this will get us ready for conference play, and to compete for a conference title.

Seahawks can't find rhythm,lose season opener


Martin,TN: The UT-Martin Seahawks lost the season opener to the Columbia Lions on November 11th. UT-Martin will rely on the 3 ball this year, and today they could not hit it. However, the Lions were hitting the 3. After trailing by 12 at the half, they would go onto lose the game by 20. The future does look a little brighter than we thought, but they need to pick it up to compete for a Ohio Valley Conference Championship.

Seahawks drop to 0-3, lose first game of tourney





Interview with Coach Banks after Opening Round of Hawaiian Invitational

ESPN Reporter Chris Ross: Your team dropped to 0-3 tonight, and none of the games have been close. Do you blame that on your bad defense, or your bad offense?

Coach Banks: I think it is more of our defense. We are trying to play man out here, and were just not quick enough to guard anyone.

CR:Than explain to me why you manage to only score 50ish points per game.

CB:We are going to rely on the 3 ball this year, and so far we can't hit it.

CR: Do you think you need to make a subbing change?

CB- Yes. Next game vs Oklahoma State we will be going 10 deep in the bench, instead of 8 deep, hoping to keep better up on the defensive end.

CR- Will; you be running different defense instead of man?

CB-Yes, we will be running a 3/4 courter court press, and some 2-3, and 3-2 zone.

CR-I think thats all the time we have today.
