X-Factor: D.J. Augustin. D.J. Augustin came off the bench and provided a spark for the Pistons. in 18 minutes, Augustin finished with 11 points and 2 assist while shooting 50% from the field (3-of-6) and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line.

Cavaliers, Thunders, Knicks Complete 3-Team Trade

Cavs acquire Smith and Shumpert, Thunder get Waiters

The Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder engineered a multifaceted six-player trade Monday night.

As part of the deal, Dion Waiters goes to the Thunder, J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert go to the Cavs and three players with nonguaranteed contracts -- Alex Kirk and Lou Amundson from the Cavs and Lance Thomas from the Thunder -- join the Knicks. Also, the Thunder are sending a protected future first-round draft pick to the Cavs, who are sending their 2019 second-round pick to the Knicks.

"We wish Dion the best as he continues his career with the Thunder and thank him for his effort and work here with the Cavaliers," Cavs general manager David Griffin told reporters Monday night. "Dion is a talented player with potential ahead of him. Trades like this are always difficult to make because there are relationships and bonds built, and that was the case with Dion.

"At the same time, we're very excited to welcome Iman and J.R. to Cleveland. With their size and versatility, we think both Iman and J.R. can help our team on both ends of the court, and we look forward to them joining us."

Knicks Fire Fisher

Knicks Fire Derek Fisher

The New York Knicks have fired coach Derek Fisher, sources told ESPN.com Sunday night. The Knicks were off to a 8-29 start to the season before they decided to let the 1st year head coach go. Even though all-star forward Carmelo Anthony ruptured his achilles, sources say the Knicks had buyers remorse after hiring Fisher to become their head coach over the summer.

But the Knicks "expected more," and there was "no incident" that led to Fisher's ouster, one source told ESPN.com's Ramona Shelburne.

Assistant coach Logan Schmidt will serve as the team's interim head coach, sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein

Ellis shines in 112-100 win over Pistons
By ESPN.com
Posted Jan. 7, 2015

The Good: Monta Ellis put on a show for the home crowd as the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Detroit Pistons. Ellis poured in a game high 31 points with 5 assist in 32 minutes of action. The high scoring two guard shot the ball at a efficient rate going 12-of-18 from the field and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe in the win. Ellis is having an all-star type season for the red hot Mavs.

The Bad: Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond. Both of Detroit's big men struggled shooting the ball against the Mavs. Monroe finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds but only shot 5-of-17 from the field and 5-of-10 from the free throw line. Drummond scored 12 points with 14 rebounds and only shot 5-of-16 from the floor and 2-of-6 from the free throw in the loss.

X-Factor: Rajon Rondo. Rajon Rondo has been a perfect fit with the Mavs since he joined the team in December. Rondo almost notched a triple-double against the Pistons as he finished the game with 9 points, 8 rebounds, and a game high 13 assist on 3-of-5 shooting from the field in 31 minutes.

Rookie Watch: Spencer Dinwiddie. Spencer Dinwiddie went scoreless in 8 minutes with 2 rebounds.
