Hayward Scores Career-High 43 In Win

James Harden and the Houston Rockets gave it all that they had, but they just could not overcome the offensive onslaught that Gordon Hayward delivered tonight. Hayward shot a career-high 31 shots, made a career-high 17 field goals, attempted a career-high 12 threes, made a career-high 5 threes, and shot 4 for 5 from the free throw line to score a career-high 43 points. Breathe.

Hayward and Harden dueled all night, as Harden finished with a not-too-shabby 31 points, 7 boards, and 8 assists off of 12-25 shooting, but it was Hayward who came away with the victory as the Jazz held off Houston to get the 114-107 win.

Joining James Harden's offensive brilliance was Patrick Mills, who scored 22 points and had 5 assists on the night. Hayward's supporting cast consisted of Derrick Favors with 15 points, Rajon Rondo with 13, and Mike Miller with 11.

The Jazz play the Rockets again on the 5th, this time in Houston. Utah improves to 2-1 with the win, while Houston drops to 2-2.

Favors Leads Jazz To Victory In Houston

November 5th, 2014

Tonight, Derrick Favors showed exactly why the Jazz chose to give him a huge contract extension last season. Favors was a menace against the Rockets tonight, as he finished with 19 points and 15 boards off of 7-14 shooting. He carried the Jazz throughout the 3rd quarter to get a 5-point lead against Houston, which was retained at the end of the game in the Jazz's 101 to 96 victory on the road.

This is Utah's first road win of the season after getting wrecked by the Kings in Sacramento. The Jazz can credit their opportunistic defense and ability to get to the line (31 attempts) for their victory tonight, as well as a few great plays from Favors. Rudy Gobert had 11 points and 10 boards, as well as 4 swats on the night. Nick Young filled the entire statsheet, as he finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 4 blocks. Gordon Hayward had an off night shooting the ball (4-17 FG, 5-9 FT), but finished with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Point guard Rajon Rondo had 10 points and 3 assists off of 50% shooting.

Utah returns home for a game against the Raptors on the 7th. Toronto is currently 2-2. Utah improves to 3-1 this season, while Houston is now 2-3.
