Tennessee was led by Senior PF Tyler Smith who scored 23 points on 8 of 17 shooting. Smith also made 7 out of 8 free throws he attempted. Senior C Wayne Chism scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Sophomore SG Scotty Hopson scored 18 points and he made 4 3 pointers. Senior SF J.P Prince scored 15 points on 5 of 7 shooting. The one thing that killed the Volunteers in this game was the rebounding. Georgia Tech out rebounded them by 15, and when you get out rebounded that bad, you're probably not going to win the game.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Junior PF Gani Lawal who scored a game high 25 points on 12 of 16 shooting. Georgia Tech star Freshman Derrick Favors got another double double for the year as he scored 14 points and got 12 rebounds. Backup PF Zachery Peacock came off the bench and scored 20 points in just 26 minutes of playing time. Peacock made 8 of his 10 field goal attempts. Then, Sophomore SF Iman Shumpert was the only other Yellow Jacket to score in double figures as he had 12 points in the game.

So, Georgia Tech will move on to play the winner of the Purdue/Minnesota game.

Tennessee ends their first season under new head coach Justin Johnson with a final record of 25-10.

Shooting Guard Michael Hubert To Transfer From Tennessee

Backup Junior Shooting Guard Michael Hubert has requested to transfer from the University of Tennessee. Hubert, who did not see any playing time this year, is wanting to transfer to a smaller school where he will get playing time.

Sources tell us that Hubert is wanting to transfer to either the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga or East Tennessee State University because of the close proximity to his hometown, which is Knoxville, TN.

With Hubert transferring, Tennessee will only have 5 returning players from last years roster, and instead of 1 open scholarship, Tennessee will now have 2 open scholarships they need to fill. If they do fill those 2 scholarships, it would bring Tennessee's 2010 signing class to a total of 10 players, which would be largest signing class in school history.
