Cornell defeats Lehigh

Cornell had a good game vs Lehigh but Cornell only had a biggest lead of 5 throughout the entire game. Cornell and Lehigh's defenses both played terribly and the score was 41-36 Cornell at the first half. In the second half the game was very similar except Lehigh had the upper hand. Cornell wins the game 81-78.

Cornell was led by a near perfect game from Nolan Cressler who had 31 points and was 11-12 (7-8 3-PT) and had 3 boards. Shonn Miller had 10 points and 5 rebounds. Leon Dobbins had a breakout game with 17 points and 7 assists and shot 6-7 (4-4 3-PT). Hopefully this is a sign on what is to come for Dobbins who has struggled to shoot the ball this year.

"Leon has a ton of potential and could turn into a star here at Cornell and hopefully he can continue to shoot like this."

-Coach Finch

Cornell (12-3) Lehigh (8-4).

Cornell upsets Iowa State

Cornell and Iowa State battled the entire game back and forth with Cornell having the slight advantage throughout the first half. Toward the end of the first half Iowa State went on a run to take the two point advantage at the half to make it 44-42 Iowa State. In the second it started as a battle like the first half but Iowa State went on another run to take at one point a 7 point lead. But, with 3 minutes left Cornell started to make a furious comeback led by a barrage of threes from The Mad Hatter and Nolan Cressler. Cornell then took a 6 point lead that was soon narrowed to 3 but Cornell was fouled and then made the shots to end the game. The final score was 83-76, a Cornell victory.

Cornell was led by Cressler who a humungous game with 37 points and three steals. Cressler has really improved this year and is averaging 20.4 points a game which is second in the Ivy League. Dobbins had 5 assists and 6 points and cherry had 6 assists. Lamore had 11 points off the bench.

Iowa St. (8-5) Cornell (13-3)

Cornell will play #3 Arizona next week that looks like a very very tough matchup.

Cornell Winning Streak snapped

Cornell suffered a heartbreaking loss versus #3 Arizona. Cornell had a good game versus one of the best teams they will play all year if not the best the best. Cornell fought hard throughout the game and started the game off well. In the first half the Big Red were back and forth with Arizona but the Wildcats had a slight edge. The score at the half was 46-39 Arizona. In the second half Cornell started to fall behind and when you fall behind against an offense like that you can almost never catch up. Cornell wound up losing 94-79.

Cornell was led again by Nolan Cressler who had another great game with 28 points. Cressler has been 16-21 (8-10 last game 8-11 this game). The Mad Hatter had a solid game with 15 points off the bench. Cherry had 8 assists and Lamore had 10 points. Miller had 5 points all from free throws (5-6) and 2 rebounds. Miller sat the majority of the game because of his lack of consistency and inefficiency during the game. Coach Finch has said that there is a possibility that Miller may get benched if he continues to play like this.

Cornell (13-4).

Cornell will start conference play later this week vs. Penn.

Good luck in conference play, tough loss but at least the record looks nice still.

Cornell wins big

Cornell Sweeps Penn series in thriller

The game started off very close and back and forth like most of Cornell's games this year. But, Toward the end of the first half Cornell took a slight edge with the score being 36-31 Cornell. In the second half the Big Red began to take a bigger and bigger lead. Penn then proceeded to go on a big run to make the score 68-65 Penn. Cornell went down the court and scored to make it 68-67 Penn. Penn then missed a shot. With 15 seconds left Cornell called a time out. With a brilliant play drawn up from Coach Finch. The ball was inbounded to Cherry then he passed it to Dobbins. Cressler set a pick and Dobbins drove around Cressler and Dobbins threw up a floater. The ball bounced off the backboard and in to the hoop. Cornell wins 70-69!

Cressler had a very good game with 26 points and 3 rebounds. Dobbins put up a very respectable game with 13 points 5 assists and 1 steal. This was the first time in Coach Finch's tenure that Cherry was not the leading assister for the Big Red with Cherry only having 4 assists. Miller only had 4 points this game. This is another disappointing performance from one of the best players in the conference last year.

Cornell 15-4 (2-0) Penn 5-9 (0-2).

Cornell will play Brown next in the battle of the leading canidates for Ivy League player of the Year. Nolan Cressler who is second in scoring (21 pts/gm) and Maia who is in the lead (24 pts/gm) and is averaging a double-double.
