Mark Turgeon decided to announce a lineup change before the game against Top 10 team Illinois. "Jared's been working hard in practice, and right now Logan Strong is a bit banged up. We're just trying to get healthy bodies out there. We don't know if this is a permanent thing, but we're a team and sometimes we just need to switch things around," Coach Turgeon explained to the media.

#5 Maryland comes out on top over #6 Illinois in Thriller

Maryland caught national attention as this game of the week lived up to its potential. This win comes on the heels of a lineup change for the Terrapins. The move of Jared Nickens from the bench to the starting lineup proved to be the difference in this game.

Nickens scored 14 of his 20 points in the first half, knocking down 3 after 3. The Fighting Illini played him tighter in the second half, but could not stop backcourt mate Melo Trimble in the process. Melo did what he does best - draw fouls and make free throws. Diamond Stone also notched yet another double-double. Expect both teams to be compete in the tournament, which is in just a few weeks.

Maryland Pulls Off the Overtime Win against Ohio State

Maryland stole a game away from Ohio State tonight in College Park. Thanks to a clutch 3 pointer by Melo Trimble, the Terps stayed alive and executed when it mattered most. In regulation, Ohio State had a slight margin over Maryland, leading by 5 with 2 minutes to go. Maryland hit some timely threes, but D'Angelo Russell and fellow Buckeye teammates would answer back. Maryland tied the game with a bucket by Robert Carter Jr. and a jumper by D'Angelo Russell fell off the rim as the clock hit 0.

In overtime, the Buckeyes started off hot, hitting jumpers and driving straight to the bucket for easy layups. With 45 seconds left in the game, 5 star point guard Dixon draws the foul and hits 2 free throws to put the Buckeyes up by 4. Melo Trimble then comes down the court and shoots a 3 pointer at the top of the key to bring it down to 1. The Terps immediately foul Dixon on the inbound, who ends up missing the front end of the one-and-one. With about 25 seconds left, the Terps run a quick pick and roll, and Trimble makes the perfect pocket pass to Diamond Stone as he throws down a thunderous dunk that shakes the whole building. 4 seconds left, Ohio State has no timeouts, and the Buckeyes throw it down the court to Dixon who has space at the foul line. At the apex of his jump, Trimble comes up and records the game-saving block.

Trimble almost finishes with his first career triple-double (16 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists), despite shooting poorly from the field (5 for 16). Diamond Stone posted a 20-10 game with 22 points and 10 rebounds, the tenth being the one where Dixon missed the one-and-one.

Maryland is now 24-3, while Ohio State falls to 13-11.

Haha, it was rough losing to them in Overtime my first season in the Final Four. My next post has the Big Ten standings, which are a bit surprising.
