Re: Go Spurs Go: An NBA 2K15 MyLeague Story

SPURS TAKE GAME 1 IN THRILLING SERIES OPENER
OKC Thunder 106-120 San Antonio Spurs

MVP: LaMarcus Aldridge 38 pts. Enes Kanter is a really key offensive player but because his lack of defense is so obvious and so hurtful to the team's effort, you wonder if Steven Adams shouldn't be starting instead of him. Aldridge offense is his strongest attribute and it's no surprise he got such joy vs Kanter.

LVP: Russell Westbrook 20 pts, 8-22 FG. 20 pts might look like a decent performance for Westbrook but a 8-22 FG showing isn't exactly acceptable. Especially when you could have put the ball in the hands of Kevin Durant for atleast half of those shots that were missed and put your team in a better position to win this game.

Coaches Comment: Scott Brooks “ It's annoying when you lose home court advantage in game 1 but you have to remember we scored 106 points tonight. 9/10 you win when you score over 100 and close to 110 but the Spurs were just on form tonight. We'll look at what went wrong and hopefully be alot more equipped for the future games in this series.”

DURANT PUTS IN STRONG PERFORMANCE TO EVEN SERIES UP
Oklahoma City Thunder 115-108 San Antonio Spurs

MVP: Kevin Durant 37 pts, 8 assists. Westbrook may be the regular season MVP but as for tonight, KD was able to lead the OKC Thunder to a huge win. Inspired by plays on the other end by Serge Ibaka, the creativity of Westbrook and Steven Adams lifting the team with much-needed energy from the bench, Durant became the scorer for his team and now we truly have a series.

LVP: Manu Ginobili 8 pts, 2-7 FG. Ginobili has yet to confirm if he's staying for another season or not following these playoffs but tonight might be an indication to him that he's failed to live up to his usual standards in the post-season. Relied upon to provide a scoring spark as a substitute, Ginobili struggled vs the Thunder bench.

Analysts Review: Shaquille O'Neal “ When you lose game 1 at home, you know that this is like a game seven. Especially since the Spurs already let a 2 game lead slip in the second round but you look at how much that took out of the Warriors, just to get even with the Champions. Everyone stepped up for OKC and now they head to the Spurs territory with a much-needed victory.”

EVALUATING TIM DUNCAN'S LEGACY HEADING INTO NBA FINALS
Cleveland Cavaliers vs San Antonio Spurs set to battle it out in NBA Finals showdown

The San Antonio Spurs are heading to the NBA Finals. Stop me if you've heard that one before. Another thing we're used to around here is this Spurs side being led by Tim Duncan. The number 1 pick in the 1997 NBA Draft, not since has a pick been able to revolutionise not only a franchise but the league in whole in the way Duncan has, is set to suit up for his seventh NBA Finals appearance. He's been successful in 5 of them, the only one he ended up losing was down to a Ray Allen miracle shot with 5 seconds left in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals vs the Miami Heat. The only scratch on an amazing resume for the 'Big Fundamental'. For someone that is so used to winning you can only imagine what that loss felt like.

“Pop always says that life is bigger than basketball and each time I truly lived by that...but that game 6 hit me hard. It hit us all hard. I never wanted to get back on the court as much as I did after that finals loss. Last season, how good we were, all the way up until we won the Championship, showed just how hungry we were.”

Duncan has picked up 3 Finals MVP awards along the way, Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard in 2007 & 2014 were voted in ahead of him in his 2 other winning years, and there's a sense that he could win his fourth this time around should the Spurs be successful. So where exactly would all these accolades leave Duncan in terms of legacy of the game? We all talk about Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and nowadays it's LeBron James that's focused on. Even in the PF position, we hear much talk of Kevin Garnett & Karl Malone. But the truth is that when adding up title wins, playoff appearances and regular season wins coupled with individual success, no-one is better than Tim Duncan.

5 NBA Titles, 3 Finals MVP, 2 MVP
10x All-NBA 1st Team
15x NBA All-Defense Team
15x NBA All-Star
All Star MVP
Rookie of the Year
Never missed the playoffs
Never falling under 50+ wins (except in 1999 when there were only 50 games played...Spurs won 37)

In this day and age people enjoy comparing and contrasting NBA legends and current players but so often when a list of the all-time greats is drawn up, Duncan gets left off the list. As the article states above, looking at his career, no-one is better than him at doing what he does. In 18 years, Duncan has delivered 5 NBA Titles, 7 NBA Finals Appearances and 18 years with post-season basketball. All he cares about is winning. The money has rarely been a sticking point for the Spurs legend, with him expected to take another cut of his current $10m contract should he decide to stay on following this finals appearance. And let's hope he does. Because the Spurs & the NBA as a whole are much better off with him here.

Re: Go Spurs Go: An NBA 2K15 MyLeague Story

Anyone have any predictions for the Finals? I hate going up against the Cavs in 2K, probably the toughest team along with OKC. Guarding LeBron, Kyrie & Love while trying to limit Thompson's rebounding ability is crazy tough
