Cannot complain about the start. Defensive presence is an issue. I love Nikola on the glass and on offense, but he is a little underwhelming as a rim protector. Also have to work on defending guards, just a part of the game I usually struggle in. My expectation is most definitely to make the playoffs and if I have too, I will be aggressive midseason to make sure. Thanks for reading.

Harris Leads Magic Over Kings

kings boxscore.jpg

The first quarter ended in a tie despite our shooting advantage 56% to 40%. They hung around thanks to us going 3-6 from the line, turning it over 5 times, and giving up 4 offensive rebounds. Rondo and Belinelli lead the Kings with 5. Oladipo(8) and Mario 5 led our charge. We play bad in the second quarter only scoring 19 points while giving up 27 to go into the half down 8. We shot only 40%, turned it over 9 times, and gave up 7 offense rebounds which allowed the Kings to build up the lead while not shooting well. Cousins and Oladipo 10 each were the only double digit scorers in the half. We opened the half on a 9-0 to go up by 1 and get ourselves back in the game. Both teams shot well in the quarter(48% for them, 56% for us). They played well the rest of the quarter to grab a 3 point lead going into the forth. We had balanced scoring in the quarter. Nikola had 6, Harris had 4, Victor had 5, and Bynum led the charge with 7. Cousins(6) and Gay(8) led the Kings. Bynum scored 5 points early in the quarter before leaving for the starting lineup subs to give us a spark. We played evenly for a while, before a 7-0 run by the Kings gave them a 5 point lead with 6 minutes left. Down by four, Harris hit a three to make it a 1 point game with 4 minutes left. Gay scored, and then Harris hit another three to tie it with 3:42 left. Harris and Gay traded baskets to make it 95-95. Harris got a dunk to give us the lead, we got a stop and then he drove, got fouled and split his free throws to make it a 3 point game. We got another stop and Harris was doubled and he found Payton who got fouled and hit his free throws to put us up 5 with 1:16 to go. Cousins came back with a quick bucket. Harris got doubled again and found a cutting Payton who was fouled, but split the free throws to put us up 4 with a minute left. We got a stop and just needed a bucket to put it away. We gave it to Harris down low on Acy(who he abused the whole forth quarter), Cousins doubled and was able to strip the ball before Harris could pass. The Kings got a steal and Marco drilled a shot in transition to make it a 2 point game with 30 seconds left. We got the ball and ran the clock down, we swung it to Harris top of the key, again the second man came. He swung it to Payton who was standing alone in the corner, Payton drove and beat the help to the basket and got a layup to make it a 4 point game with 8 seconds and that put the game away.

Player of the Game: Harris 25 points 8 rebounds 4 assists 9-16 FG 2-4 3PT 5-8 FT

Player Stats:

Reaction: We overcome the turnovers and mistakes and play a solid game. We competed hard on both ends. We needed a win to bounce back and we got one against a pretty good team. It was nice to see Harris get a game in the spotlight as he took over the forth quarter and led us to a win. Victor continues his really good shooting and that is a good sign moving forward. So far the Bynum signing has been an success. In 20 minutes per game he is averaging 14 points, 6 rebounds, and a block on 48% shooting. If this keeps up he might see more minutes in the feature. We played a lineup with him at the 5, and Nikola at the four in the beginning of the forth with solid success. In certain match-ups that could prof to be a weapon.

Around the League:
Marc Gasol and DeRozan get players of the week
The Bucks beat the Pacers to improve to 12-1
The Hawks get 4 guys in the 20's as they blow out the Cavs 130-110
Reggie Jackson gets 25 points and 14 assists as the Pistons blow out the 1-9 Wizards
Heat blow out the 4-10 76ers behind 34 from Dragic
Howard and Dwight both scored 31 as the Rockets blow out the Knicks
Thunder blow out the Mavs behind 42 points 8 rebounds and 9 assists from KD
Warriors improve to 12-3 and hand Denver their 9th loss in a row
31 and 10 from Lillard leads the 10-5 Blazers over the Lakers

Re: We Have the Magic-Orlando Magic 2k16

Ok so the same issue came up and I lost my posts for 3 games. I took measures to ensure it won't happen again, so you'll have to deal with short versions for these games.

Lebron Cavs Dominate the Magic

cavs boxscore.jpg

stats vs cavs.jpg

Player of the Game: Lebron 29 points 5 rebounds 4 assists 4 steals 13-20 FG

We hung around through 3 quarters, but got dominated 33-15 in the forth for our downfall. Lebron dominated us on the and Thompson and Varejao dominated the paint. Besides Harris we could not get anyone going on offense and we turned it over too much. Once the Cavs saw this they did a good job of preventing us from getting Harris the ball. We played bad and this got us beat by a better team.

Magic Have no Answers for Melo, Loss Again

knicks boxscore.jpg

stats vs knicks.jpg

knicks stats.jpg

Player of the Game: Melo 38 points 4 rebounds 6 assists 17-26 FG

We had no answers for Melo. He drilled jumpers, hedrove to the rim when we closed out, he dished when we doubled. This was the best I've ever seen him play. The other guys did enough to help Melo hold his lead over us for the entire game. Harris, Bynum, and Oladipo all played great, but everyone else struggled. We needed more balance if we wanted to win with how Melo was playing and we didn't get it. Coming off 2 loses and the 13-2 Bucks coming up, some trouble might be brewing in Magic land.

Magic Use Balance to Overcome Bucks

bucks boxscore.jpg

bucks stats.jpg

stats vs bucks.jpg

Player of the Game: Elfrid Payton 15 points 7 asissts 2 steals 6-9 FG 1-2 3PT

We opened up a 7 point lead by the end of the first, and came away with a solid win, despite a big push by the Bucks early in the forth. Payton played his best game on the year and impacted both ends as he limited MCW. We had good balanced scoring as everyone played their roles well. This is the type of all-around good game we need to play to beat good teams. After the game Coach Skiles announced that Mario would be joining the starting lineup in place of Fournier. Evan has been struggling and while Mario has been inconsistent he has the ability to hit the open jumper and run the floor, both of which can boast the starting five. The time is now for the rookie to get his chance. Our next game, our last of the month against Boston provides the chance to start a winning streak.

Thanks, I am for now. Might eventually sim some, but for now I will play. Part of it is that I want to evaluate guys as I think I'm going to try to be active at the deadline, so I want an idea of who to keep and whom to deal.

Balanced Magic Blowout Celtics

celtics boxscore.jpg

We struggled in the first quarter. Oladipo scored 10, but the rest of the team struggled. We only stayed within 4 points thanks to him and going 5-10 from three. Boston shot 46% and got 7 offensive rebounds to have a strong first quarter putting up 27 points. We struggled again in the second quarter only scoring 22 points on 38% shooting and 3-11 from three. We hung around thanks to a big quarter by Mario(13 points). Our defense played well enough to keep us within 7 at the half. We came out in the third and had by far our best quarter of the season. Our starters opened up the quarter on a 22-4 run to take a 11 point lead. They played better against our bench to cut it to 7 at the end of the quarter. We dominated them on both ends scoring 27 points on 56%(3-5 from three) and held them to only 13 points on 30% shooting. It might have been our best quarter on both ends. Mario(20) and Oladipo(17) led us in scoring through 3. Thomas(14), Turner(11), and Crowder(11) led Boston through 3. We outscored them 30 to 22 in the fourth to close out the blowout win. We shot 55% from the field led by 10 each from Harris and Nikola.

Player of the Game: Vucevic 19 points 16 rebounds 4 assists 2 steals 8-10 FG 3-4 FT

Player Stats:
celtics stats.jpg

magic boxscore.jpg

Reaction: We had a bad first half, but bounced back with one of our better halves of the season. Mario did what we want him to do in the starting lineup as he hit open jumpers and cut to the rim a few times. All five of our starters played very well. Watson appears to have taken back the backup PG spot for now. Coach decided to give Frye a shot to try and spark the second unit scoring and it worked. He scored 11 and hit 3-6 from downtown. He also adds the benefit of giving Bynum more space in the post. It appears he has earned a shot to get some playing time which might come at Gordon’s expense as he has been a nonfactor lately. It is something to watch.

Around the League:
Towns and Okafor are rookies of the month
Lillard and Lebron are players of the month
Jazz lose Exum for 4-6 months
Knicks lose Williams for 6-8 weeks
Clippers lose Pierce for 4-6 weeks
Spurs lose Alridge for 1-2 weeks
Suns lose Chandler for 1-2 weeks
26 from Muhammad lead the Wolves over the Clippers
26 from Stanley Johnson leads the Pistons over the Nets
28 from Melo leads the Knicks over the Rockets
KD gets 27 points 11 rebounds and 6 assists in a win over the Hawks
Spurs blow out the Bulls behind 25 from Leonard
29 from Curry and 25 from Klay leads the Warriors over the Jazz
Lillard continues to dominate getting 25 points 8 rebounds 11 assists, but the Clippers beat them.
