Wiggins, Martin Lead Wolves over Magic

We play a bad offensive quarter shooting 39% from the field, 3-6 from the line and 1-6 from three. We play pretty good defense holding the Wolves to 23 points which is the reason why we were only down 5. Wiggins got 8(but only shot 4-12) and Rubio had 5. Bynum and Fournier led us with 4 each. We do a little better in the second on offense, but still struggled scoring 22 points on 43% from the field. The Wolves got hot and put up 26 points on 56%. Wiggins(11), Martin(10) and Rubio(9 points 4 assists) led the Wolves for the half. Bynum(8) and Nikola(6) were our best scorers. We actually found some offense in the third scoring 28 points on 56% led by 7 by Harris and 6 by Nikola. We cut it down to four, but our second unit struggled on offense and the Twolves roasted our defense scoring 32 on 55% from the field and 9-11 from the line. Wiggins had a big quarter scoring 12 and we go into the fourth down 13. We tried to fight back several times in the forth. We had a chance to make it interesting a few times, but we rimmed out threes, gave up a big shot, or there was a missed call. We dug a hole too big to get out of and our defense was just bad. Second time we’ve played bad against this team.

Recap; Once again we struggle on defense against this Wolves team. Wiggins came out cold in the first, but played great the rest of the way. Martin, him, and Rubio gave our guards fits all game as our defense was constantly broken down. Nikola, Harris and Payton had solid games but it wasn’t enough. This was the first game of a long west coast trip(Utah. LA, Denver, and Phoenix). We need to hold our ground on the trip to make sure we stay in our current spot/.

Kobe and Kendall Marshall both get triple doubles as the Lakers blow out the 76ers
26 from Bledsoe leads the Suns over the 3-15 Nets

22 points 8 rebounds and 12 assists from Lowry leads the Raptors over the Hawks
The Spurs are now 18-1 as Leonard gets 21 points 12 rebounds and 7 steals in a win over the Bucks

Favors Leads Jazz to Blowout Win

The Jazz came out hot led by Hayward(6 points), Favors(6 points), and Neto(3 points 3 rebounds 4 assists) as they scored 25 points on 55% shooting. We stayed in the game thanks to Oladipo scoring 11 of our 23 points as he shot 3-5 from three. Nijola also played well with 5. We came out and played like **** on both ends in the second. They outscored us 32-11 to take a 21 point at one point, We finished the half on a 8-2 run to cut their lead down to 15 at the half. They got 34 points on 58% from the field and 4-17 from three. Fournier and Nikola combined for 14 points to spark our offense. Burks(12) Favours(6) and Hayward(5) led them in the quarter. Our starters struggled again as the Jazz opened it up to a 23 point lead. The bench unit led by Napier came in and provided some energy, but we still went into the fourth down 16. We never made it interesting in the forth and we lost another bad game to a bad team.

Johnson, Crawford lead Clippers over Magic

There was some speculation CP3 could return for this game, but we catch a break as he didn’t. We struggled from the field only putting up 21 on 41% from the field. We played pretty good defense despite the fact the Clippers scored 26 on 50% shooting.Mario(6) and Oladipo(5) led us. Rivers and Stephenson made the jumpers we wanted them to take and combined for 15 points on 3-5 from three Both teams shot 44% from the field in the second, but we had the four point edge to cut their lead to one at the half. Bynum led us with strong post play putting up 11 in the half(9 in the second). Rivers(11) and Lance(9) led the Clippers for the half. After we scored the first bucket of the quarter, we went ice cold and the Clippers led by Johnson(7 points) and Crawford(9 points) got red hot from outside and LA went on a 21-4 run to take a 16 point lead. We put in a unit with Victor running the point surrounded by bench guys and they played well(Bynum led us with 7 in the quarter) and we went on a run and finished the quarter down by 6. They came out and put their foot on the gas and blew us out in the forth quarter, as our struggles continue.

Recap” We played a good first half, but we were outclassed in the second half against a better team on the road except for one run. Bynum and Oladipo and Frye, but most of the other players struggled. Once again our defense could not limit guards from killing us. This time it was immortals Wes Johnson, Austin Rivers, and Crawford. Our team has lost 3 in a row and 5 out of 7. We need to get going before our season starts to slip away.

Balanced Magic Blowout Denver

We play good defense in the first quarter holding them to 20 points on 44% and forcing 6 turnovers. We struggled from the field(41%) but we were able to get 25 points thanks to transition offense and getting to the line(6-6). Faried(6) and Lauvergne(5 points) led Denver. Payton(7 points 2 rebounds 3 assists 2 steals) and Nikola(6 points 6 rebounds 2 assists) had strong all-around quarters for us. We finally got our break out quarter. Frye scored 10 straight points(13 for the half) early on to open our lead to double digits. We scored 34 points in the quarter on 58% from the field and 4-9 from three. We hold Denver to only 19 points and force a stunning 8 turnovers in the quarter to take a 20 point lead into the half. The only Nugget to have a strong half was Lauvergne with 12. Oladipo(11), Payton(9), Mario(8) and Nikola(8 points 8 rebounds 4 assists) all played great halves. Both teams shot great(60% and 56%). We hit 5-10 from three to give us the edge in the quarter and extend our lead to 23 heading to the fourth, which was garbage time as we got the huge win.

Player of the Game: Channing Frye 19 points 4 rebounds 6-10 FG 4-6 3PT

Recap: We played our best game of the year on both ends of the court. We beat a team we should have and we needed a win so it was nice. This still was a 4-17 team. It was nice to be able to rest guys with the back to back we are in. Tomorrow against the Suns will be a test to see if we can play this well against a better opponent.

Career Day for Oladipo Leads to Victory

Oladipo hit a couple open threes early in the game and this seemed to get him going. We hit him on a couple of easy cuts to the rims for layups and dunks. He drove and drew fouls. He finished the quarter with 21 points on 7-8 from the field. As a team we started off 9-10 from the field and got a 22-5 lead. We cooled off finishing 12-19 from the field and the Suns got 7 from Tucker and Bledsoe to cut our lead to 13 by the end of the quarter. We played well with Victor on the bench opening our lead to 20. Oladipo came back and they were pressuring him everytime he touched the ball he only scored 2 points on 1-5 from the field, but got 4 assists giving him 6 for the half. They went on a run to cut our lead down to 14(Goodwin led them with 10 in the quarter, 12 in the half), but Mario hit a three to open it back to 17 at the half. We had a solid offense quarter scoring 27 points on 50% lead by 6 by Mario and 8 by Bynum. The Suns scored 34 in the quarter in an attempt to get back in the game. Morris scored 12 in the quarter and cut our lead to 10 heading to the fourth. Our offense scored 36 in the fourth to hold them off. They tried to make it interesting, but Oladipo found his hot stroke from the first as he scored 18 to hold off the Suns and lead us to the win.

Recap: Victor had a huge night despite losing his touch in the second and third quarters. He has shown the ability to get hot and his improved three point shot, it’s just a matter of more consistency. For the second straight game we get a great all-around offense performance. Bynum and Nikola played well in the paint against a depleted frontline(Chandler and Len injured). Mario’s jumper was off, but he was cutting to the rim very well and grabbed a career high 12 rebounds. More games like this would be nice moving forward, but we face a tough challenge next game against the Cavs.

Magic lose Heart breaker to Cavs

Lebron(8) and Love(6) came out and played a strong two man game early opening up a 8-2 Cavs lead. Our defense bounced back from there and held them in check for the rest of the quarter. Our offense got hot the second half of the quarter and we finished the quarter 53% from the field and 3-4 from three. We opened up a four point lead as Frye drilled a deep three at the buzzer. Oladipo, Mario, Frye, Bynum, and Mario all scored 5 as we had a very balanced scoring quarter. The Cavs shot 54% from the field and 3-4 from three on their way to 29 points to tie the game at the half. Irving led them with 9 in the quarter We were able to put up 25 points on 58% shooting led by 12 by Harris to hold off a big run from them. We play good initial defense holding them to 36% shooting, but they get 7 offensive rebounds and get to the line 13 times to put up 25 points. Our offense stayed hot scoring 29 on 52% from the field. Lebron(6) and Irving(7) were the leading scorer. We hung with the Cavs and played above them most of the fourth quarter. We took a five point lead with 4 minutes remaining. All of a sudden the Cavs went on a 11-0 run to take a 6 point lead. as we couldn’t score and gave them easy buckets off turnovers. Lebron missed a free throw to keep us within 6. Oladipo hit a three to cut it to 3 with 6 seconds left. We stole in the inbound pass with good ball pressure and set up a Oladipo three to tie it, but it went in and out and we lost a tough game. The big three were too much for us to handle down the stretch.

Recap: We gave the Cavs a great fight, but the big three were too much for us to handle. We played well until we choked our lead away down the stretch. To play with this Cavs team is encouraging and we hope to take the improvement shown in the past three games and push it forward.

Kemba Walker gets 43 in a row over Memphis

Magic Survive Late Nets Surge

We play strong defense holding the Nets to only 35% from the field and shot 50% but only found ourselves up 2. We played wel, but just didn’t have that big run. Give the Nets credit for hanging around. Jack, BB, and Oladipo were the high men with 7. Gordon also had a nice quarter picking up 5 points and 3 rebounds. In the early part of the second Jack(7) AB(6), and Young(7) were giving us trouble. The Nets opened up a 38-30 lead at one point. We finished the half on a 23-10 run to take a 5 point lead into the half. Mario had a big quarter, as he hit a three as a PNR handler, cut to the rim for a 3 point play, drove by Johnson and got a fingerroll and 1, and finished an opp for a monster jam on his way to 13 points in the quarter and he finished the half with 15 on 6-7 shooting. Jack(14) and Oladipo(12) were the only other double digit scorers for the half. Nikola got off to a good start in the quarter and the Nets responded by putting Bargnani on him. We responded by going to him in the post and faceup situations. He could not be stopped, as he goes off for 20 points in the third quarter, and the Nets only scored 19 points as a team in the quarter. We went into the fourth with a 16 point lead. We continued our roll and opened up a 24 point lead with 7:33 left in the game. We even had our garbage time unit sitting on the sideline ready to check in. All of a sudden the Nets hit three threes in a row to cut it to 15, with 6 minutes left. We put the garbage time on hold to make sure we got this win. We responded with a score to make it look it we had it on lock down. All of a sudden we could not buy a shot, open or not. The Nets went on a 14-0 run to cut it down to 3 with 2:46 left. Harris got a 3 point play to put our lead back up to 6. Lopez carried the Nets with 14 in the quarter, but he missed a couple of easy shots down the stretch that could have killed us. They made it interesting, but didn’t have enough time to finish the comeback as we hold on for the difficult four point win.

Recap: Mario, Bynum, Oladipo, and Nikola all played great. For most of the game we played really well and took advantage of a bad Nets team. Their run at the end was crazy and kind of flukey, but we held them off and got the win, that’s all that matters. Victor looks like he is taking the next step and Mario is starting to find his role as a starter which is promising
