With an unexpected press conference Larry Bird and Frank Vogel announced coach Gensi's hiring as assistant-GM and assistant-coach.

Italian-born former NBA Champion with Celtics, Grizzlies, Knicks and Cavs said -

I decided to get into this team to help the work of Vogel and Bird in this rebuilding phase. On the court I will cover especially the offensive plays while at management level I will try to find players who really want to be part of the Pacers. We already have a team that can reach the playoffs but we would return to the glories of dueling playoffs with the Miami Heat and to do that we need patience, insight and passion.

Indiana Pacers


The Indiana Pacers are a professional basketball team based in Indianapolis, Indiana. They are members of the Central Division in the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Pacers were first established in 1967 as members of the American Basketball Association (ABA) and became members of the NBA in 1976 as a result of the ABA-NBA merger. They play their home games at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The team is named after Indiana's history with the Indianapolis 500's pace cars and with the harness racing industry.^[2]

The Pacers have won three championships, all in the ABA. The Pacers were Eastern Conference champions in 2000. The team has won eight division titles. Five Hall of Fame players – Reggie Miller, Chris Mullin, Alex English, Mel Daniels, and Roger Brown – played with the Pacers for multiple seasons.<sup>[3]

Bird and Gensi decides to interrupt small-ball project and bets on Nuggets' power forward

Frank Vogel recognized that bad moods of George for her new position was affecting him on the field and that the boy would be returned to play in his principal role, but in doing so the Pacers roster would suffer serious numerical deficiencies on the frontcourt.

So, with a rapid trade orchestrated by Gensi as Assistant-Gm, C.J.Miles and Chase Budinger were sent in Colorado in exchange of Kenneth Faried and Kostas Papanikolaou.

- Faried is a little undersized but he's very fast and compensated his stature with a tremendous energy and work ethic. In this way we can continue to play with high pace but we're better protected in the restricted area - said Gensi

I like the Manimal move. I've always been a fan of Faried and he's a beast in the Pick and Roll game; you don't want to get in that man's way when he's coming at you full-steam. I hope it works out for you, but George is kinda tough to build around. He's good at so much.
