STORY HIGHLIGHTS
- Jameel Bethea scores 40 points against the Bucks
- Milwaukee scores just 64 points in blowout loss in Sacramento
- Bethea scores over 30 for fourth consectuive game
SACRAMENTO (AP) – Just days removed from recording their biggest blowout win of the season, the Bucks hit rock bottom again in Sacramento on the other side of a rout.
Jameel Bethea scored 40 points as the Kings dismantled Milwaukee at home in a 109-64 defeat. Ironically, Sacramento was coming off a 133-96 loss in Memphis.
“It's just been that type of week for me,” said Bethea, who scored over 30 for the fourth consecutive game. “It’s always relieving to see those shots go down. Tonight was great win for us.”
BOX SCORE: Kings 109, Bucks 64
Bethea caught fire early on and tallied 25 of his 40 points in the first half alone before sitting much of the third quarter. As he rested, forward Ahmad Harmon added to the deficit, finishing with a stat-sheet stuffing performance of 24 points, seven rebounds, four assists, four steals and a three blocks.
Despite the end result, the game began as a back-and-forth affair as the Kings struggled to get much going outside of Bethea’s offensive spurt.
“I think the effort just disappeared for us down the stretch,” Bucks interim coach Michael Goodrich explained. “When a player heats up like that, and you’re bringing double teams and everything, it just begins to affect the psyche of the team.”
Harmon was backed by Treshawn Parker in the scoring totals as the rookie scored 14 points for the Kings, who completed a season sweep over the Bucks after defeating them 103-99 back in November.
“It’s a good win for us as we move further into the season,” Parker said. “It gives us a lot of momentum, too, especially after dropping that one in Memphis a few nights ago.”
In an indication of Milwaukee's misery on offense, no Bucks scored more than Justin Washington’s 14 points. Their 64 points was the lowest of any team this season and their 28 turnovers was the highest.
The Bucks were 24-of-62 from the field (38.7%) while Sacramento was 42-of-70 (60.0%).
TIP-INS: Kings — Jameel Bethea has put the Kings on his back, carrying them to a 4-1 record over the past five games. A 133-96 loss in Memphis last Saturday derailed the prolific scoring run of Bethea.
TIP-INS: Bucks — The Bucks scored only nine points in the final quarter, a perfect testament to the lack of effort as the Kings ran away in the blowout.
