Re: Rebirth of a Franchise | Houston Rockets Franchise
Rockets Trade Motiejunas for Robinson; Harden Trade Rumors Surface
Thomas Robinson previously played for the Rockets, they now want him back and feel there is a place for him.
Houston, TX (AP) - Houston Rockets new GM Elijah Dupas has already made his first move and while it's not acquiring a superstar, he still feels it's a move that impacts the core of the team. "Trading Donatas [Motiejunas] for Thomas Robinson gives us more rebounding and athleticism off the bench than we had. We loved the stretch 4 that Donatas was for this team, but we kind of needed that old school physical type of power forward to balance out our team and add physicality. Along with the new addition of Nene and Ryan Anderson, we should be strong and be able to stretch out and shoot from those positions especially when you add in Michael Beasley to that equation. This was just a move to balance out our team." With Dwight Howard leaving to Atlanta in free agency, there was reports that the Rockets were in full rebuilding mode, and looking to ship superstar James Harden to another team to initiate that standpoint. "No, those rumors aren't true, we aren't entertaining any offers for James Harden, he still has 3 years left on his deal, and right now we aren't looking to trade him we are looking to build around him. He has the support and back of his GM and this organization, if things change they change, but right now this is what it is. We stand behind Harden and believe we can win and build with him, and that's what we'll attempt to do.
Rockets also sign Lance Stephenson to 1 yr contract
"Signing Lance will allow us to start him at point guard from the start of the season and we'll see how that goes, him and Harden will be a great backcourt that can both score and play exceptional defense. Patrick Beverly is still a profound player on this roster and may start some games depending on matchups throughout the season, but this move is made to give us some more scoring so Harden won't have to carry much load, and we expect to be able to score from all five positions on the court." - Elijah Dupas
Projected Starting Lineup: Lance Stephenson | James Harden | Trevor Ariza | Ryan Anderson | Nene'
