James, Irving help Cavs end 2016 with 102-95 win over Hornets
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Kyrie Irving, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers closed out 2016 with a 102-95 win over the Charlotte Hornets Saturday night.

Kyrie Irving scored 14 of his game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter to help the Cavs hold off the Hornets. Irving also had 9 assists coming one assists shy of his third straight double-double.

LeBron James and Kevin Love recorded double-doubles with 22 points and rebounds for James and 15 points and 13 rebounds for Love.

Marvin Williams led the Hornets with 19 points while Nicolas Batum added 18 despite shooting 2 of 8 from three point range. Frank Kaminsky also had 18 points off the bench and played impressive defense with 3 blocks.

Hornets leader Kemba Walker scored just 10 points shooting 4 for 12.

"They really just brought the intensity early in the second half and we didn't match," Walker said. "We just have to be better. By the time we picked it up, it was kind of too late."

Re: Welcome to the Land - NBA 2k17 Cleveland Cavaliers Association

Cavs ride Irving's hot hand to beat Pelicans 115-107
CLEVELAND -- Kyrie Irving carried the momentum from Saturday's 28 points performance into Monday's game against the Pelicans.

Irving scored a season-high 38 points and Lebron James had his second triple-double of the season as Cleveland knocked off New Orleans 115-107.

Kevin Love came up one rebound shy of a double-double with 21 points and 9 rebounds adding 3 steals on defense.

The game may have turned out differently had Anthony Davis not fouled out with over 8 minutes left the game.

After his exit the Pelicans turned to the outside shot and managed to the give the Cavs some cause for worry as both Solomon Hill and Jrue Holiday hit multiple three's in the final quarter.

Holiday led the Pelicans with 22 points, Davis added 20 despite playing just 27 minutes, and Hill had 14.

Re: Welcome to the Land - NBA 2k17 Cleveland Cavaliers Association

Shumpert powers Cavaliers to 120-98 win over Bulls
CLEVELAND -- Iman Shumpert had a nearly perfect night against the Chicago Bulls.

Shooting six of six form the field, including all three of his three point attempts, and hitting nine of 10 free throws in just 25 minutes of playing time Shumpert led all-scorers with 24 points.

Kevin Love scored 22 points with 11 rebounds, LeBron James added 20 and Kyrie Irving had 18 points and 8 assists in the 120-85 win.

Cleveland controlled the game from the out-set and took a 69-50 lead into locker room at half-time.

"In the first game we didn't match their intensity and got beat," James said. "Today, I think we answered the call."

Chicago was led by Jimmy Butler's 20 points and 8 assists. The Bulls no trail Cleveland by three games in the Eastern Conference standings.

Robin Lopez had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulls. Dwayne Wade scored 15 points in his second meeting with his former Miami running-mate.

Re: Welcome to the Land - NBA 2k17 Cleveland Cavaliers Association

James, Cavs beat Nets 128-112
NEW YORK -- The Cleveland Cavaliers win streak is now at six games.

LeBron James scored 33 points and wished out 8 assists in a 128-112 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.

Kyrie Irving added 27 points and Kevin Love had 17 points and 16 rebounds, and both hit three 3 point shots, but the Nets kept it competitive for 3 1/2 quarters. James helped the Cavs open a late lead to win the opener of a six-game trip.

The Cavs are still working to finalize a trade with Atlanta to acquire Kyle Korver, which will add a premier perimeter shooter to their second unit.

"Every shooter that comes here we tell them LeBron's statement: If a guy's not in your numbers, then you're open," Irving said. "So I know he'll pretty much enjoy that."

Robin Lopez scored 23 points for the Nets, who have lost five straight.

"We just tried to compete the whole game. We dug ourselves a hole," Nets guard Jeremy Lin said after scoring 20 points.

Though the trade with Atlanta wasn't done yet, the Cavaliers did complete one with Portland. The Cavs re-acquired the 2018 first-round pick they had sent the Trail Blazers along with Anderson Varejao last February, in exchange for their 2017 first-rounder.

Nets coach Kenny Atkinson, who was an assistant in Atlanta, said the Cavaliers are making a great move to get Korver.

"I think we all make a mistake if we just think Kyle's a shooter," Atkinson said. "I think he's a better all-around player than people think. I think he's a better defender than people think. Better passer. He's just really great IQ and he's going to help them in so many ways."
