    Purple Kings [NBA 2k18 MyLeague]

Welcome everybody to my new MyLeague with the Sacramento Kings!

With some recent problems with my Lakers career mode (that apparently got fixed in the last patch, or that is what 2k told me), I have been forced to abandon that thread and start again.

I figured I would keep up with the purple theme, yet now, I'd go with a different struggling team, one that never reached its glory - the Kings.
With a plethora of young talent and some intriguing veterans, I feel like this will be quite the project.

The season length will be 82 games, with me playing one game every week. It will include stories, not quite instantly, but I think I have a way to keep you lot interested.

    Stay tuned and stay following!

Randolph drops as Kings pick up the pieces
        October 18, 2017

The first half of the game already looked secured for the Rockets - they kept control of it the whole way, going into the second half with 10 points ahead. One of the best back-courts in the game, Paul and Harden, couldn't be stopped with any defense thrown at them by Sacramento.

Adding insult to injury, Zack Randolph picked up an injury, meaning he sat out for the rest of the second half. It later turned out that he twisted his ankle, meaning he would miss 6-8 weeks of action.

But the Kings looked completely different, whether it was the injury or one of the best talks from Joerger, they came out and completely grabbed the game by the horns and took control. The Rockets were shocked, as they were really struggling to find the answers to Hield and his shooting, Cauley-Stein on the boards or Fox with his passing.

Both Houston and Sacramento will face the Mavericks in their next game.

          Twin-towers take charge
          October 26, 2017

The "Twin-Towers 2.0" got the job done. They might have cut it close, but the Pels kept control of it in the end.

Sacramento was always on their tail, hitting big shots and never dropping far behind them. The biggest change of momentum came in the fourth quarter, with Hield and Hill hitting crucial shots to claw the game back. An even bigger move was when George Hill forced Cousins to foul him, meaning he earned his sixth foul - with 2.41 to go. Hill went to the line and tied the game up, but it was Darius Miller with a big 3 to give them the lead back.

After that, Davis kept control, with two big blocks and forcing turnovers, giving the Pelicans a comfortable win.

Coach Alvin Gentry was proud of his team's fight to the end. "Away from home, Sacramento is a tough place to play as well, but we kept fighting and we got the win. I don't know if we were the better team, but the win is all that matters."

The Kings will face the Wizards in the next game, while the Pelicans go on to face Cleveland.

Nice to see a Sacramento dynasty going. I actually really like their team, mostly because I've always liked their vets Z-Bo, Carter and Hill. Plus, they have a nice you core mostly from this draft but from the last few, as well. The possibilities are really endless with them but it's going to be a tough road to do anything of significance in a stacked Western Conference. I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do with them. Good luck.

Thanks for the response! I also agree that the mix of the team currently feels right. The only problem that I have, is our pick situation. Sure, we have one pick for next year, but the amount of certain talent in next years draft, I am trying to get an additional first one pick for next year. I guess I'll see if that is even possible.

Russ, George take the lead early
                November 1, 2017

Triple-double king was at it again.

Russell Westbrook was giving the Sacramento guards a headache. With his scoring and passing, Oklahoma took a big early lead, going 16-2 at the start of the quarter. Surprisingly, the shooting of Abrines was one of the keys to the start - he made 2 of his 4 threes in the first quarter.

The Kings had some good production from their bench, outscoring Oklahoma's bench by 23 points. Most notably, Fox and Labissiere gave good production, and the Kings started pulling it back.

But a third-quarter melt-down completely shifted the game again, with George and Russ taking control and finishing the Kings once and for all.

Sacramento will play the Pistons next game, while Thunder faces the Nuggets.

I'm sure it was a nice game for Boogie when you hosted the Pel's - first game back in Sacramento since the trade last season.

                  Keep up the good work.
It is actually weird how 2K highlight system works - when you open up a player highlight reel, it shows the stands the way they are at the end of the game, regardless if the play was in the first quarter.

Those two look really good, I really intrigued on how they are going to do in real life (Boogie has lost weight so much!).

While we might struggle this season, I hope we turn it around next year(s)!

                    Block party in NY
                    November 11, 2017

The Knicks looked great defensively, with making it really difficult for the Kings to score outside. Sacramento finished the game with 5 blocks, but Porzingis gave people a show, finishing with 7 on his own.

The difference maker really came in the second half, when the poor shooting of the Kings went up against the great shooting of the Knicks. While Sacramento did have some great looks, they really couldn't get them in, as shooters like Hill (0-7 3PT) and Hield (0-9 3PT) made it even more difficult for them to get back into it. Meanwhile, both Porzingis (3-5 3PT) and Hardaway (3-5 3PT) increased the gap and gave New York a comfortable lead.

Sacramento will face the Wizards in their next game, while New York hosts the Cavaliers.

Three players make the difference in DC
                      November 13, 2017

The third quarter difference came from the shooters.

While John Wall was his usual, unstoppable, high-pace self, there were other two shooters, who really made a difference. Otto Porter had a ton of open looks and nailed them, while Jodie Meeks came off the bench and gave the Kings a headache as he ran off screens and hit his shots.

For Sacramento, the bigs were the highlight today. Willie Cauley-Stein had a season-high 25 points, along with Skal Labissiere (19 PTS). The two also grabbed a ton of boards between the two of them.

The Kings will face the Hawks in the next game, while Washington faces Miami.

                        Day-and-night performance for the Kings
                        November 25, 2017

Whether or not it was the black jerseys, the Kings absolutely clicked against the Clippers, giving them no room at all.

The bigs for Los Angeles were really struggling, especially Griffin, as he went 5-27 from the field -- on the other end, Cauley-Stein gave them a headache with his 7 blocks.

Another big thing for Sacramento was their shooting from deep, as they finished with 57% from deep, four players (Hield, Hill, Jackson and Carter) sank at least three 3s. For the Clippers, it showed that only Williams was the player, who came to play - rest of the players really struggled on the field.

Sacramento will face the Warriors in their next game, while the Clippers go on to face their rivals, the Lakers.

The Greek Freak puts on a show
                          December 2, 2017

While the two teams looked really close to most parts of the field, there was one difference maker for the Bucks - The Greek Freak.

The Kings really couldn't find an answer for Giannis. His shots from mid-range kept on falling, and coach Jason Kidd was really happy with his movement. "Giannis is really, really smart. I mean, you see the guy play with the ball and he finds people in the right places. The defense is always on their toes and scared. It showed today."

For Sacramento, there really wasn't much excitement and stand-out play for them. Fox looked good coming off the bench, but other than that, Milwaukee was the better team the whole game.

The Bucks will travel to Boston for their next game, while the Kings go on to face the Cavaliers at the start of the new month.

                            1. Player of the month

East - "The King" LeBron James took the glory of this months POTM. While his team isn't sitting at the highest of the conference (currently third), he has earned the POTW award twice during this period. He leads his team in assists (8.5 APG) and is second in both scoring (21.3 PPG; behind I.Thomas) and rebounds (10.1 RPG; behind K.Love). Some of his more memorable performances of the month include a 29-11-9 night against Memphis, 29-10-7 against Milwaukee and 23-18-9 against Charlotte.

West - Russell Westbrook grabs the honors of POTM in November, including some absolute magical performances. He had 6 triple-double games and hasn't had a game so far, where he hasn't scored over 20 points. His better games include 33-18-14 against the Celtics, 35-10-12 against the Kings and 31-13-13 against the Nuggets.

                            2. Rookie of the month

East - While the Sixers do have more than one candidate, Ben Simmons was honored ROTM this time. His numbers have looked impressive - 13.1 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 5.2 APG. He is a crucial reason why Philadelphia has had a good start to this season. Most notably, his best game was against Utah, as he scored 27 points along with 7 boards and 7 assists.

West - Lonzo Ball, the Lakers star-rookie, has started his season off sensationally. Leading the Lakers in assists is one thing, but being high up in the league was something that nobody has expected, as he sits fourth in the league in assists. While his shooting nights have been poor, he has always been passing the rock, with 0-8 nights to go along with 10-12 assists (vs Atlanta, vs Sacramento). However, he has sadly suffered an injury as of late, as he will miss 6-8 weeks of action with a broken right leg.

                            3. Injuries

The season is still very early, but there are already some quite big injuries on some star players.
