BRONCOS ADVANCE TO SWEET 16!!!

The Butler Bulldogs Cinderella dreams are over, as Coach Ryan and the Broncos continue to put together the best season in Boise State history.

Trailing (35-31) at the half, Boise State would make a 8-0 run to start the 2nd half to give them a 4 point lead. Both teams would trade bucket for bucket for much of the 2nd half as the Broncos still lead by 4 with less then 2 minutes to play. Butler would hit a huge 3pt shot with 43 seconds to play to make it (61-60), but the Broncos answered back with a 3pt of their own as Wilkins connects on a wide open shot from the corner to make it (64-60). BSU would fall back on defense not wanting to give up the easy bucket and again forced Butler to shoot from deep and again the Bulldogs answered making it a 1 point game with 1.3 seconds on the clock. BSU would inbound and run out the clock though as they hold on. FINAL SCORE BSU-64 BUTLER-63

KEY PLAYERS
Wilkins take home POG honors as he scores a team high 15 points including 3/5 from 3pt in the 2nd half.

K. Stafford adds a double double in the win with 10 points and 10 rebounds but even more amazing is he has 6 huge blocks as he show cases to the nation his bid to being named the NCAA FOY.

T. Moreno (13 points) and J. Fischer (10 points) join them in the double digit column well A. Bowman grabs 10 huge boards to help Stafford on the glass.

Whose up for Boise State and who else made the trip to the Sweet 16? Stay tune to find out.

UPSETS CONTINUE IN ROUND 2!!!

Not looking to be outdown by the 1st Round, Round 2 didn't hold back from offering college basketball fans even more excitement and memories..

#10 Florida no stranger to Final 4 and National title showed why seeding #'s don't matter as they knock off #2 Michigan State (73-71) at the buzzer..

#6 Ohio State ended #14 Cornell's dream (90-57) to also advance, well #1 USC defeates #8 Arkansas (97-66) to also move on.

#4 Indiana makes some noise as they pass the century mark for the 2nd straight game beating #12 Alabama A&M 105-80. Can the Trojans slow down this potent offense??

#1 Cincinnati survives a buzzer beat to hold on and beat #8 Washington (74-73) as they will advance to play #5 Memphis who scores 100 in their win over CUSA rival #4 Southern Miss (100-80).

#3 Arizona State defeats #6 La Salle 68-56 as the Sun Devils will advance to face Boise State for the 2nd time this season. Can Boise State get it's revenge and prove they are Elite 8 material, or does the Bronco's story end here?

In the South Regional #1 Maryland cruised to a win over ACC rival #8 NC State (76-56) well #5 Gonzaga's dream of a Sweet 16 party was ended by #4 Charlotte (72-68).

#6 Louisville overcame a 5 point 1st half deficit to defeat #3 UCLA (66-62) as they advance to take on #7 Oklahoma State who upset #2 Vanderbilt (88-73).

The upset train continue from the South to the Midwest, as #1 Mississippi State falls (82-73) to #8 UConn.

The Huskies will face off against #5 Kentucky as they held onto a 9 point 1st half lead to defeat #4 Cal (72-64).

#3 Duke and #6 Arizona combine for 18 of 34 3pt's as the Blue Devils make a huge 2nd half comeback (trailed 60-54) to beat the Wildcats 108-99.

After scoring 105 points in the opening round, nobody expected #10 Mercer to manage just 41 points but the Badgers defense was just to much as #2 Wisconsin cruises to victory (68-41). Can the Badgers do it again vs Duke? They will have to hope so if they want to be Elite 8.

Go Gators! Look at them win, seedings be damned. Good to see Tennessee lose, too.

And look at the Broncos squeaking out victories -- so many heart attacks. It's a great run so far, I think it will come crashing to an end in the Sweet 16. But we'll see.

Great job reaching the Sweet 16. A revenge game against Arizona State gives you a chance at some redemption on the big stage!

Tennessee losing was huge for me. Butler was tough but I am like 99.9% certain I would've lost to the Vol's. There team is loaded with so many good shooters.

I honestly feel like had K-State's big time scorer not picked up those early fouls and spent most of the 1st half on the bench, I wouldn't have been able to hang with them either.

The Arizona State game has been played.. Results will most likely get posted tonight.

I have gotten very lucky This team is playing so much better then their ratings and having K-State lose their #1 scorer to foul issues, then Butler beating Tennessee has really paved the way for me to squeak out some close cames.

The rematch has been played, most likely will get it up tonight.

SWEET SWEET REVENGE!!!

As soon as Coach Ryan knew that #3 Arizona State had beaten #6 La Salle and would be the team his Broncos would face in the Sweet 16 matchup, he had his staff pull up the footage of the Dec 10th matchup vs the Sun Devils and called his team in for a game film session.

For the next 2 hours the Broncos watched and rewound play after play as ASU scores basket after basket. Down by 20 at the half (41-21) the Broncos had no chance of a 2nd half comeback. The 32 point loss still was very fresh in the Coach Ryan's mind and he wanted his team to feel it too.

ASU made 13 of 28 from 3pt. A stat everyone in the room knew needed to change. The Broncos had turned over the basketball 25 times another # that couldn't happen again if they wanted any chance at a Elite 8 spot. 4 player's in double digits led by B. Dux. Coach Ryan knew they had little chance of stopping the talented JR SG (18.4 PPG on the season), but everyone agreed that if they could stop the rest of the team from contributing, Dux wasn't good enough to beat them on his own.

After 4 days of rest the Broncos were ready to continue their Dance at the Ball. Their glass slippers had some thread still on them. BSU would win the tip and score the opening bucket. ASU would miss their first attempt. BSU answered with another bucket and then another. Trailing 6-0 Dux would finally put the Sun Devils on the scoreboard with his first of 10 points scored in the 1st half, but with little other support Boise State would go have the lead going into the locker room (37-36).

Could the 1 point lead hold and if so for now long. The Answer.... A entire half. Boise State would never give up that 1 point lead and with less then 2 minutes to play the lead with go to 3.. Then with 32 seconds to play a pair of F.T's Wilkins would make it 5. A missed 3pt attempt to cut it to a basket would fall short, but ASU would get the rebound and again dish it outside for another desperation shot. Again the ball would fail to find it's target. FINAL SCORE BSU-73 ASU-68

KEY PLAYERS
B. Dux would lead all scorers with 22 points, but no other Sun Devil would hit double digits.

For Boise State, SG Bud Wilkins would be named POG. The JR SG connected on 4/8 from downtown as he scored a team high 18 points.

Freshman Khalif Stafford continued to impress fan's getting a glimpse of him for the first time as he scored 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds well adding 3 more blocks to his tournament totals.

SO Jamie Fischer continued to showcase his skills as one of the best 6th man in the nation added 16 points 8 rebounds and dishing out 3 assists.

25 wins and a trip to the Elite 8. Coach Ryan's story wasn't over yet.

8 REMAIN IN ON GLORY ROAD AS THE TEAM'S PREPARE TO HEAD TO INDY!!

The results were in #6 Ohio State survives a buzzer beater to pull of the (76-74) win over #10 Florida.

Fellow #7 Oklahoma State's 5 point 1st half lead holds up as they knock off #6 Louisville (83-76).

#5 Kentucky's tough defense shuts down #8 UConn in a snooze fest (62-46)

4 teams were in... The top seeds were now playing. Who would Boise State face?? Would it be #1 Cincinnati the Big East Champ or would it be #5 Memphis who was looking for their 4th Final 4 appearance.

The Tigers would answer the question quickly. Coming off a 100 point performance over their CUSA rivals Southern Miss, Memphis continued firing on all cylinders as the Tigers took a 15 point lead into the half (57-42) and the foot never left the gas pedal in the 2nd half as they again pass the century mark in a 29 point win (102-73).

The Tigers were led by JR Z. Arline as 6'4 PG out of Chicago Illinois. Arline would just miss recording a triple double as he scores a team high 24 points and dishes out 10 assists well grabbing 8 rebounds. Well his stats were impressive. It wasn't what worried Coach Ryan most.

The Tigers got 53 points from their bench including 40 from 2 players. SO PG R. Atkinson (21 pts) and SR PG D. Eisentrout (19 pts) both connect on 5/7 from deep as the team combined for a total of 16 of 28 from beyond the arc.

Could Boise State slow down this potent attack? Stay tune to find out..

With the Memphis/Boise State matchup set. The nation turned their attention to #1 USC who figured out away to slow down a Indiana team that averaged 112 PPG in their first 2 games. The Hoosiers manage just 63 including just 21 in the 1st half as the Trojans hold onto their 19 point lead to win (70-63)

A #1 USC vs #6 OSU matchup looks like something you would normally see on a football field and not the hardwood.

#1 Maryland was next to join the rank of Elite. As the Terp's make a 2nd half comeback to beat #4 Charlotte (82-74) to advance to face #7 Oklahoma State.

A Duke vs Kentucky matchup was what most fan's wanted to see, but Wisconsin would disappoint as they dominated Duke from start to finish, leading (47-33) at the half, the Badgers cruised with a 20 point victory (93-73), setting up a matchup with #5 Kentucky.
