Re: Coaching Legacy of Scott Ellis (CH2K8)

Iona vs. St. Francis (PA)
December 19th, 2007 @ DeGol Arena

St. Francis defeated Iona tonight, 67-49.

St. Francis started this game out on fire, connecting on their first 6 shots of the game to build an early 14-0 lead. St. Francis continued their hot shooting throughout the first half, shooting 59%. Meanwhile, Iona struggled shooting the ball tonight, only shooting 30% in the first half. Iona was down big at half, 44-25.

Once the second half started, neither team couldn't buy a bucket. Both teams ended up shooting below 40% during the second half. Thankfully for the Red Flash, they played strong enough to hold on to their original first half lead and ended up coasting to the victory.

St. Francis played outstanding defense tonight, holding Iona to 32% shooting from the field and 29% from 3. St. Francis was also able to hold the rebounding advantage despite Iona having a much bigger line up then the Red Flash.

St. Francis was led by Matthew Green who scored a game high 23 points. Taj Lagana just missed out on a double double by one rebound, posting 11 points and 9 rebounds while also dishing out 4 assists. Dommanic Fadipe did a little bit of everything as he scored 9 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, had 3 assists, with 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

Iona was led by Marc Doellman as he came off the bench and scored 13 points. De'Angelo Quick also came off the bench and scored 12 points. 7'0 Senior center Borislav Cunningham scored 8 points along with 9 rebounds.

St. Francis (6-4) travels an hour west to Pittsburgh, PA to take on Duquesne December 21st.

Re: Coaching Legacy of Scott Ellis (CH2K8)

St. Francis (PA) vs. Duquesne
December 21st, 2007 @ Palumbo Center

Duquesne came away with a victory tonight over St. Francis (PA), 69-58.

Duquesne showed the Red Flash a few different looks tonight on defense and St. Francis didn't have an answer. The Red Flash shot a horrid 28% during the game and 25% from 3. The Dukes also had their way on the boards tonight, almost doubling the Red Flash total, 43-24.

Even with these unfavorable stats against them, the Red Flash manged to keep this game close, at one point during the second half with 5 minutes remaining, Matthew Green nailed a 3 point shot to tie the ball game up. But the Dukes called a timeout and then pushed the lead back out to double digits, sealing the Red Flash's fate.

Duquesne was led by Regis Powe as he scored a game-high 17 points for the Dukes. Duncan Duggins missed out a double-double tonight by one rebound as he recorded 12 points and 9 rebounds, he also blocked 2 shots. Bud Cowen chipped in 10 points.

St. Francis was led by Matthew Green who scored 16 points. Taj Lagana scored 15 points and grabbed a team-high 8 rebounds.

St. Francis (6-5) has finished their non-conference schedule and will take on Quinnipiac on January 3rd at Degol Arena.

Re: Coaching Legacy of Scott Ellis (CH2K8)

Quinnipiac vs. St. Francis (PA)
January 3rd, 2008 @ DeGol Arena

St. Francis (PA) destroyed Quinnipiac to kick off the new year, 71-46.

St. Francis came out the gates and took control of the game early, holding a double digit lead throughout the first half. St. Francis held the Bobcats to 26% from the field in the first half while the they shot 56%. St. Francis held a 15 point advantage going into halftime.

The second half started off well for the Bobcats as they were able to cut the Red Flash lead to single digits until St. Francis went on a huge 23-0 run to push the lead up to 31 points. Sealing their fate as Quinnipiac didn't threaten again. St. Francis dominated on the boards tonight as they held a 10 rebound advantage over Quinnipiac.

St. Francis was led by Taj Lagana as he went perfect from the field, scoring 16 points while shooting 7-7. Matthew Green scored 16 points and dished out 2 assists. Emanuel Eisentrout came off the bench and scored 14 points.

Richie Restrepo led Quinnipiac tonight as he scored a team-high 12 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and had 4 steals. Reid Thomasson came off the bench tonight and scored 7 points and had 2 steals in the lost.

Coach Ellis after the game: "This was the best defensive effort we had all season. We held an outstanding basketball team to 28% shooting tonight. I'm extremely proud on the way we played tonight, especially on the defensive end. We still need to work on our offensive execution as we had far too many turnovers tonight but I'm happy to get the win. We also need to give a shout out to our fans tonight, this was the loudest I have heard the DeGol Arena this year. They definitely rattled Quinnipiac tonight and I think they have made the DeGol Arena the hardest place to play in the Northeast Conference."

St. Francis (7-5) gets back to action January 5th when they welcome Monmouth.
