Miami Heat bring back former Grizzlies Coach David Fizdale

ESPN

Miami-

The Miami Heat announced today that they have brought back former Memphis Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale to return the organisation where he started as a assistant coach on a one year deal.

Fizdale who was a Heat assistant for 8 years from 2008 to 2016 where he served a number of different roles for the Heat before taking the head coach role in Memphis. In his first season as head coach he guided the Grizzlies to a 43-39 record which was good enough for a playoff berth losing in the first round. He was fired 19 games into this season after a slow 7-12 start.

Heat president Pat Riley said that this a big boost to the current coaching staff.

”Bringing a guy like Fiz Back is a huge deal for us he has a ton on knowledge within the organisation and his time away has only helped him become a better coach and leader it was a chance we knew we had to take given his experience and pedigree.”

Coach Erik Spoelstra was glad to his longtime friend back with him at the Heat.

”Over the moon that Fiz is back on the sidelines with us like Pat mentioned his time away has made him a even better coach and will help us going forward. He got a rough deal in Memphis but I’m glad he’s with us now instead of having to face him

According to sources he will jump straight into his old role as assistant head coach and current assistant coach Juwan Howard will move into the scouting department. The Heat also announced that if Fizdale is to get any head coaching offers after the season they will let him seek out those opportunities.

Re: Vice City Stories: A Miami Heat 2K18 My League Experience

Dragic,Whiteside do just enough to hold off fast running Bucks in close game

Miami

The Miami Heat continue to impressive win streak which is now up to 7 consecutive wins after taking down the Milwaukee Bucks 108-107 in a very close game.

Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to make his MVP case despite losing logging 32 points 12 rebounds to pace the Bucks but it was the Heat on this night who was able to get the job done behind 27 points from Goran Dragic and a big 18 points and 15 rebounds from Hassan Whiteside.

The game was nip and tuck all game but the Bucks gained the upper hand behind 18 first half points from Giannis but the Heat which has been a huge part of there season kept fighting all the way to the end which included in the final quarter a 36-31 run to get the edge. However down 107-106 after a Jerome Fitzgerald missed shot it was Whiteside who dominated the middle again in this game grabbed a key offensive rebound and scored to give them the lead. The Bucks has one last shot to win the game but a Giannis turnover in the post decided the game in the Heats favour.

Coach Erik Spoelstra was impressed with the grit his team showed

”We showed a lot of heart tonight to able to claw our way back after Giannis pounded us all game to keep fighting and thankfully we got the job done. Our ball movement was good tonight we made the right plays when we needed and the guys were really unselfish tonight which I thought gave us the edge we needed on offense.”

When asked on what the heat can improve on going forward.

”Defense is the biggest issue with us at the moment we having trouble stopping guys scoring in the paint Giannis torched us in there so we gonna have to figure what we need to do to fix that.

Re: Vice City Stories: A Miami Heat 2K18 My League Experience

Heat use collected effort to win 8th in a row
Now only half a game back of the 3rd seed

Associated Press

CHICAGO - - The Heat have won 8 in a row but again they left it late and almost lost to the lowly Bulls on a back to back.

After defeating the Milwaukee Bucks in close game last night it took everything from the Heat to overcome the youthful Bulls side who were more than up for the challenge.

“We were god awful on offense and defense” Coach Erik Spoelstra said after the game “first half we couldn’t move the ball without a turnover then on defense we couldn’t stop those guys first quarter 7-9 from long range not good enough but we fought and fought to get back in it and we escaped with the win”

Hassan Whiteside and Goran Dragic steered the team around with Whiteside going for 19 points 17 rebounds and 3 Blocks while Dragic who continues to make his all star case finished with 22 Points and 7 assists for the Heat who now have a season high 8 game winning streak.

A late change from Spoelstra moved Rookie Jerome Fitzgerald to the bench who had another outstanding game who finished with 21 Points and 5 assists when asked why the change for Wayne Ellington Spoelstra said it was about matchups.

“We tried something to tonight to combat there 2nd unit we needed to keep up with there bench and Jerome lead the way for us there we gave him the freedom to make plays and fortunately he made plays all night for us including the last contest on Lavine at the end.”

Another one down

Heat Guard Tyler Johnson suffered what appeared to be a high ankle sprain late in the 3rd quarter after a layup he was fouled and hobbled off the court. At this point it’s looking like 3-6 weeks out for Johnson who was having a strong season off the bench for the Heat.

Up Next

Heat: At Milwaukee for the 2nd of a five game road trip
