Hey man, appreciate the comment. Yeah I am using All-American with default sliders. I used to chase big foot with the slider adjustments, and I still think there's a place and time for it, but this game has given me some pretty authentic results from the minute I picked it up, so I'm sticking with it!

Game Update
January 23rd, 2008

Goodman hot off the bench in Non-Conference finale

Hanover, NH - The Big Green concluded their Non-Conference slate tonight in Leede Arena as they played host to the University of Maryland Eastern-Shore. The Hawks are one of the least talented teams in all of Division I Basketball & sport a total of 9 players on their active roster.

As expected, the 10-4 Big Green added another to their winning streak & have made it five straight with tonight's 69-58 victory over the Hawks. The starting roster did much of what comes naturally to them, scoring in the paint, as Dartmouth found 50 of their 69 points below the rim. The two biggest contributors continued to be Alton Pandov and Nate Goodman. Goodman, who has seen a good deal of action off the bench this season, added 14 points on 6 of 7 from the field and 2 of 3 from the line. All in all, the Dartmouth bench added 22 points whereas the Hawks totaled only 8 from their reserves.

"This is the momentum and position we need to be in right now heading into the Ivy league stretch", said Coach Machado, following the win. "Those two wins we got over Harvard were a great start, but the big chunk begins now & we have must be at our best. I am very proud of the guys for putting together this 11-4 record so far, let's get more."

The Big Green begin their Conference slate on February 1st with a visit to Princeton.

Sounds good man. Hope to find some time over the weekend to get back into the game for a bit and maybe start a Legacy. I have been thinking about it for a while but really didn't want to get into slider hell and fight those battles. Sometimes I miss the simplicity of the Nintendo and Sega Genesis days where you popped in a game and played it for what it was...no sliders to tinker with and obsess over.

Re: Dreaming of the Dance: A College Hoops 2K8 Legacy

Conference Game
February 1st, 2008

Shooting woes lead to first Ivy League loss

Princeton, NJ - The Dartmouth Big Green took their first Ivy League loss in Princeton during a road game with the Tigers. The loss marks the end of a strong five game win streak for the Big Green which began with a road win against Siena, two Ivy League wins against Harvard, and two more Non-Conference victories over New Hampshire and Maryland Eastern-Shore.

The problems for Dartmouth stemmed from their inability to hit from the mid to long range. The normally sharpshooting Major Fraser looked like a shell of his former self, going 0-13 from distance & 4-23 from the field. Floyd Dearman at least helped keep Dartmouth in the game as he came off the bench for a team high, 19 points, 15 of which were scored from beyond the three line. Alton Pandov went 5-8 under the rim for 11 points, still good, but not quite the production he has been accustomed to. Theron Weaver nearly hit a double-double in rebounds & assists as he had 7 boards & 13 dishes in the loss.

"We have been very inconsistent from range ever since we lost at Army", said Dartmouth Head Coach, Laird Machado. "Floyd (Dearman) definitely caught the bug late in the first & into the second, I just wish it was contagious for us."

Major Fraser, who was Top 10 Nationally in Points Per Game, front runner for Ivy League Player of the Year, and led all Ivy league players in scoring, has most certainly cooled off for the Big Green. Getting Fraser back on board is an absolute must as Dartmouth fall to third in the Ivy League following the loss.

Tomorrow evening we will see Dartmouth take on Penn in Philadelphia, PA.

National Outlook

Rock Chalk stands tall at No. 1

Hanover, NH - With about a month and a half to go before March Madness, and Conference play heating up, it's time to take a look at the National landscape for the 2007-2008 season.

National Top 25

No stranger to the top, the Kansas Jayhawks receive top honors this week as the number one team in the country. While not boasting one particular "go-to" guy, Rock Chalk is littered with future Lottery Picks & are a favorite for a top seed and Final Four finish. Hot on the Jayhawks' tail we find the University of Tennessee, led by the nation's fourth best scorer, Clark Clurry. The 6'2" Senior Shooting Guard has been an animal this season, amassing 23.9 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 2.2 APG, and 2.0 SPG. Curry has also gone 80-197 from distance, good for third most three's made in the nation. It is most certainly not a good time to get comfortable at the top, however, as North Carolina is very hot in the third spot, riding a 10 game win streak. The Tarheels boast the current front runner for the Wooden Award as Junior Power Forward, Nick Gourde, has been without a doubt the best player in the country to this point. Gourde leads the nation in scoring at 24.5 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 1.2 SPG, has made 181 of 338 from the field, and is shooting 76% from the line, with the second most Free Throws Made in the country. Gourde is a very strong number one for the coming NBA Draft & will definitely go out with a bang.

Rounding out the rest of the Top 5 we find the usual suspects of (4) Louisville & (5) Michigan State. The Spartans took a big step backwards, dropping two B1G games in the past week & falling a couple of spots. They remain as the favorite in the Big 10, but (9) Wisconsin will have a chance to take that away with their match up next week.

Noticeably absent from the Top 10 are blue bloods, (12) Kentucky, (21) Connecticut, and (23) Duke. The three teams in blue have heavily struggled this season, especially late, going a combined 16-14 in their last 10. The "One and Done" machine may need to recycle once or twice to get back on track as their stock keeps falling for a chance in the Big Dance.

The Southeastern Conference has been dominant thus far with seven total teams in the Top 20, five of which land in the Top 15, and three in the Top 10. The Atlantic Coastal Conference has six in the Top 25, but are bottom heavy with only (3) North Carolina ranked above 15.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs stand tall amongst the Mid Majors riding an 8-2 record in their last 10 as West Coast Conference play gets underway. Akron, Western Kentucky, George Mason, and Bradley, will have a tough time dethroning Gonzaga, as there are a noticeable number of their Conference opponents lining the Mid Major Poll.

The Missouri Valley Conference has five squads in the Top 25, led by Bradley & Wichita State. The Mid-American Conference, Western Athletic Conference, and Big West, trail the Missouri Valley with three teams a piece.

North Carolina's very own, Nick Gourde, leads the league in Points Per Game & makes an appearance in two other major categories, Free Throws Made & Field Goals Made. The Tarheels have looked to Gourde heavily this season & will continue to do so as they seek to remain perfect following their 10 game win streak. Dartmouth's Theron Weaver has shown remarkable court vision and hands as he stands head and shoulders above the rest of the league in Assists Per Game. Ronny Zimmerman from Grambling is a ball magnet off the glass as he has hauled in 13.2 Rebounds Per Game and looks to be the favorite for National Big Man of the Year.

While there is still a lot of basketball to be played, these men have cemented themselves as very strong All-American candidates by season's end.

Strong three's from Dearman secure win

Philadelphia, PA - The Dartmouth Big Green rebounded their first Ivy League loss against Princeton with a solid 79-67 victory over Penn tonight in Philly.

Freshman Alton Pandov led Dartmouth in Points and Rebounds as he collected a double-double with 25 points & 10 boards. Pandov was 12-15 from the field & continues to dominate under the rim. He received help from Cody Sowers who added 15 points, 5 boards, and 4 assists, himself. Rebounding looked excellent for the Big Green as the team totaled 37 on the evening, out rebounding Penn by 11.

Starting Small Forward, Eric Holmes, led the charge for Penn with 31 points on 11-23 from the field & 9-17 from distance. Nathan Burrowes was the only other Penn player to reach double digits, which ultimately led to their demise.

The game was well in control by Dartmouth for the majority of the 28 minutes, though Penn brought it close midway through the second with a couple of three's drained by Eric Holmes. Needing insurance, the Big Green looked to Sixth Man, Floyd Dearman, off the bench to give them what they need. Dearman went 3-5 from long range and helped pad the lead as the time continued to run. "Floyd (Dearman) looked really good tonight", said Dartmouth Head Coach, Laird Machado. "The boys moved the ball around really nicely for him & gave him open looks...he also generated his own looks, I was impressed."

Dartmouth takes their third Ivy League win tonight & will take on Brown next Friday. Brown, Dartmouth, and Columbia, are tied atop the Ivy League at 3-1.

Conference Game
February 8th, 2008

Brown's Taylor Baldwin takes over

Providence, RI - The Ivy League's most talented player was on display tonight during the Brown Bears' home victory over rival, Dartmouth.

Brown Junior, Taylor Baldwin, took the game into his own hands from the beginning seconds as he drained a quick three to set the tone of which he would operate on the evening. From there, Baldwin accounted for 38 of the Bears' 77 points on 14-27 shooting & 8-16 from long range. Baldwin wasn't without a supporting cast, however, as Eric Foster fed the ball 16 times and added 10 points for a double-double, while Matt Foust snagged 14 boards off the glass, doubling that of any Dartmouth player. Nearly four Brown starters recorded double digit points as Brown tripled the amount of Three Pointers Made compared to Dartmouth.

The usually dominant Alton Pandov was consumed by Brown's big men & was held to just 12 points and 3 rebounds. Nate Goodman came off the bench for 6 points and 7 boards, but also had a tough time battling for position under the rim. "It's no secret we have been struggling from mid to long range over the last few weeks", said Laird Machado. "We've been able to lean on Alton (Pandov) and Nate (Goodman) in that time & they have been working their butt's off in the process. Tonight was an example of what happens when all three phases: short, medium, and long ranges, fail. Tonight, we just need to pause & reset. Tomorrow is a new day & we've got Yale."

Tomorrow, the Big Green will travel to New Haven, CT, to take on the Yale Bulldogs.

Yale outclasses Dartmouth in home win

New Haven, CT - The Dartmouth Big Green traveled to Yale University as the last stop in a four road game stretch. The Bulldogs looked excellent on every level of play as they defeated the Big Green, 75-66.

Things proved they would be a tough test early for Dartmouth as Alton Pandov worked hard for baskets down low, but came up short more times than not. The usually consistent Pandov was left sprinting back the full length of the court as Yale Guards, Hector Woolley and Jordan Reyes, quickly fed the basketball up stream to Josh Homan, Isaac Garner, and Landon Bozovic, for quick buckets in transition.

The fast play drives were not the only thing Yale was having success in, either. Yale ended the evening shooting 41% as a unit from three, going 14-34 in that span. Hector Woolley ended the night with 25 points on 10-19 from the field & 5-12 from distance, while Josh Homan went for 23 points on 8-21 & 7-16.

"That's a really good group of guys", said Dartmouth Coach, Laird Machado. "I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them at the top of the Ivy League come mid March. We failed to be consistent in multiple areas tonight & that led to our loss. Mostly, I am frusturated with our defensive play. We gave them one, too many open looks from deep & they got into a groove that we couldn't contain."

The Big Green drop their third game in the Ivy League, second straight. With the road trip over, Dartmouth will finally head home to Leede Arena to take on Ivy League front runner, Columbia.
