Game Update
November 6th, 2018

Curry stuffs stat sheet on Opening Night

Phoenix, AZ - Business as usual. The Golden State Warriors opened the 2018-2019 NBA Season with a cruise controlled, 24 point slaughter, in Phoenix.

Led by none other than the man with the plan, Steph Curry, the Warriors roasted the Suns in nearly every facet of the contest: Field Goals: 64% to 45%, Three Pointers: 48% to 29%, Rebounds: 46 to 28, and Assists: 37 to 23. Curry would nearly secure his first triple-double, but settled for a double-double on the evening with twenty points, thirteen assists, and nine rebounds. Kevin Durant led all Warriors' scorers with twenty six in thirty two minutes of play.

While the victory was expected to go the way of the 2017 NBA Champions, there were many very interested to see how the 2018 First Overall selection, would fare. Rookie, DeAndre Ayton, played 25 minutes, scored four, collected four assists, five rebounds, and five steals. The NBA newcomer was a menace down low, preventing feeds into Cousins on multiple occasions. His presence was also felt from the tip-off as he slammed down the game's first points with an authoritative dunk. Speaking of rookie's, the Sun's second round selection out of France had quite the game. Élie Okobo looked pristine, starting at the one, going for twenty two points, adding six assists, and two steals, in the process. Devin Booker led all Suns' scorers with twenty five on 11-25 for the night.

Opposite Ayton was Cousins, and you could argue, eyes around the league were glued on him, just as much as Ayton. Boogie didn't put up the same scoring as we've seen in the past, but the aggressive play in the paint was same old Cousins. The first year Warrior rebounded nine, stole twice, blocked three shots, while assisting on four plays. After the game, Cousins had this to say: "It's different, man, and it's actually quite nice. I've been on teams with good players, but this is another level, these are great, actually, legendary players. For me to score under double digits and us come away with an easy win...I can get used to this."

The Warriors improve to 1-0 on the young season & will play host to the Portland Trail Blazers for their Home Opener on November 18th.

'Boogie' boogies down in Oakland

Oakland, CA - Welcome to Golden State, Cousins. The Warriors, along with their newly acquired stud, DeMarcus Cousins, blazed through the visiting Trail Blazers in their Home Opener at Oracle, 108-86.

While the usual faces of the defending NBA Champions were out to play (Curry, Klay, Draymond, and Durant), the fresh face of DeMarcus Cousins underneath the rim is a sight to be seen. The big man was a one man wrecking ball as he secured sixteen boards with authority, absolutely dominating Jursuf Nurkic. He also snagged nineteen points, his first double digit & double-double on the campaign.

Back-to-back double-doubles is the name of the game for Steph as he would go for twenty nine, leading all Warriors. The three time NBA Champion found eleven assists in the contest, most of which coming to Cousins in the paint. "That dude is scary down there", laughed Curry, during the post-game presser. "Halloween was last month and we've still got monsters out here." Curry would finish 9-17 on the evening from the field with all points being scored via the long ball.

As for Portland, the tandem duo of Lillard & McCollum was out to play, but it wasn't quite enough. The two would combine for forty four points in the contest on 20-40 from the field. Without much support from Turner, Aminu, and Nurkic, the writing was on the wall from the first quarter as Portland was outscored 31-20 to begin the contest. Things didn't slow down from there until the fourth quarter when Golden State gave way to their bench & Portland put up 33 in the closing quarter.

With Portland falling to 0-2 on the young season, star Guard, Damian Lillard, had this to say: "It's certainly not where we want to be, but the season is barely underway. I think we saw a really strong performance out of CJ and Myers Leonard, but playing a team like this isn't necessarily how we're going to judge the rest of the league. Sure, they're the final boss, but you work your way up to these guys, you don't start with them."

The Warriors improve to 2-0 and will make a road trip down to San Antonio on December 2nd to take on the Spurs.

Spurs thwart Warriors at home

San Antonio, TX - Everything is bigger in Texas, and this week, it was the Spurs blowout lead over the Warriors, as San Antonio hosted & roasted Golden State, 114-84.

Led by DeMar DeRozan, the Spurs were all things tough. "We shot well, we defended well, and we played with a swagger knowing we could compete", said DeRozan, following his twenty point performance.

While San Antonio didn't showcase one standout, though a formidable argument could be made about DeRozan, the general consensus leaned towards a team effort in the victory over the powerhouse Warriors. The main cog in that machine: Rebounds. The Spurs out boarded Golden State fifty to thirty five by game's end, taking away more than enough second chance points from a team who needed all they could get. The Spurs also showcased great passing, which ultimately led to their sixty percent from the field and near fifty percent from beyond the arc. DeJounte Murray ended with eleven assists and Rudy Gay had seven.

For Golden State, shot selection was beyond poor. "Highly contested", the first words out of Golden State's head man, Steve Kerr, following the loss. "We didn't drive, we had slow passing, and the vast majority of our shots had a six foot something wall standing in front...you aren't shooting well like that, I don't care who you are". Stephen Curry ended the night five for fourteen from beyond the arc and Klay Thompson was zero for five.

Golden State, a franchise who's made it's success behind shooting, fell way short tonight against San Antonio. Though Cousins put up a strong performance under the rim, it was ultimately not enough combined with the struggles of the back court.

The Warriors will play host to a very hot 3-0 Sacramento, next.

Kings continue dominate start

Oakland, CA - With victories over the likes of the Lakers, Rockets, Clippers, and now Warriors, the Sacramento Kings might be for real.

In what was expected to be a year of rebuilding, the Kings have dominated some of the best competition the West has to offer. LeBron's Lakers, Harden's Rockets, and now, likely best of all, the golden five in Golden State. Led by De'Aaron Fox, the Kings got hot right out of the gate with a thirty two point first quarter, while holding Golden State to twenty one. That story continued, with the exception of the second, through the third and fourth quarters as the Kings played phenomenal defense against the Warriors.

Once again, rebounding was a major issue for Golden State as they were destroyed on the glass, sixty four to thirty eight. "We need to get physical", said Cousins, following his six point, eleven rebound, eight assist, outing. "We let some nobody kids do this to us, it ain't gonna fly. First pick, second pick, who cares." As per usual, Boogie says what he feels.

The Warriors are beginning to show a bit of all bark, no bite, as they've dropped their last two, being absolutely outplayed in the process. Curry once against struggled from distance as he was three for twelve, though Klay and Durant improved following their previous showing.

One of the biggest difference makers in the contest was the old vet, Zach Randolph. The thirty seven year old did loads of damage in twenty five minutes off the pine, going for nineteen and securing seven rebounds. He, combined with Nemanja Bjelica, and Kosta Koufos, helped dominate the boards while the Kings' starters got breathers.

While the season is still quite young, Golden State has already lost what they were expected, if not more, in the early goings. The Warriors will look to rebound their two loss streak in Utah as the visit Donovan Mitchell and the Jazz, next.

Warriors back on track in Utah

Salt Lake City, UT - With nearly all three going for thirty, Steph, Klay, and Durant, took it to the Jazz in Utah.

It has been a tough two game stretch for the Warriors who averaged a laughable, eighty two and a half, points per game. All three aforementioned shooters made eleven baskets a piece, while Cousins once again sure'd up the boards with fourteen, while assisting on six, stealing three, and blocking two, in the one hundred to ninety four victory. "It felt good to get buckets again", said Klay Thompson, who is in the final year of his Warriors contract. The Guard led all Warriors' scorers with thirty.

The Jazz have been expected to compete pretty solidly in the West, though another loss, dropping to two and three on the season, isn't the direction star Guard, Donovan Mitchell, was expecting. The Sophomore, drafted just one season ago, went for twenty, while Ricky Rubio led all Jazz with twenty six.

Golden State once again fell short on the boards, but finally got back to work in the assist department, out passing Utah, thirty one to nineteen. Blocked shots were also a big stat advantage for Golden State as Cousins picked up two of the team's five on the night.

The victory helps lift Golden State above five hundred on the year as the team will take on Dallas before embarking on what is to be the harder part of their campaign. A win at home against Dallas will be very important for not only momentum, but insurance heading into the tough three game stretch vs. Oklahoma City, Houston, and Los Angeles.

Curry goes off in Oracle as Warriors get win

Oakland, CA - The MVP chants reigned in from Golden State faithful as the minutes closed on a hard fought contest. Golden State hosted a Luka Doncic led Mavericks team who put up an intense fight, but ultimately lost out, 105-101.

"He's going to be an All-NBA talent for years to come", said Curry, regarding Rookie Guard, Luka Doncic's, talent. The first year NBA player went for twenty three on an impressive eight for thirteen from the field and a perfect seven for seven at the charity stripe. He added six boards and five assists, as well.

For all the hype Doncic brings on a future level, the present, hangs with Curry. The stud went for forty six as Steph landed a season high in both scoring, and assists, with fourteen. The double-double was Curry's third on the season so far as he's been exhibiting flawless passing through the lanes, and of course, the dynamic range he's always possessed.

The third quarter provided some scare into Golden State as they were outscored, thirty four to twenty seven. Thankfully, a strong showing in the first, as well as solid defense in the third, helped keep the surging Mav's at bay, at least enough to edge out the four point victory.

"Like I said at the beginning of the season, new faces, new places", mentioned Steve Kerr, following the victory. "Their rookie is a prime example of how a franchise can turn around in just one season and we've already witnessed that this year with Sacramento. Thankfully, we've got veterans in this club who are capable of not succumbing to this and we strive to keep it that way".

The Warriors finished shooting fifty six percent from the field, but it was their forty five percent and fourteen made three pointers that got the job done. Kevin Durant was responsible for six of the fourteen as he shot a beautiful six for eight from deep. He finished with twenty eight, six rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block.

The Warriors improve to 4-2 on the year, a sigh of relief following the Golden State version of a pedestrian start. They will take on the 7-0 Thunder for their next contest, easily the game of the year for the West, thus far.

Re: Lord of the Rings: A Golden State Warriors Dynasty (NBA 2K19)

Game Update
February 12th, 2019

Defensive contest goes way of Warriors

Oakland, CA - When Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Dennis Schroder, are in the house, you expect some points to be had. This, however, was not the case, as the two powerhouse franchises put on a display of defensive expertise in the 93-85 victory for Golden State.

If this game was purely a rebound battle, Oklahoma City would have won by a landslide. The Thunder pulled fifty one boards off the glass compared to Golden State, but it was their thirteen offensive rebounds that kept the Warriors on the heels, time, and time, again. Thankfully, nearly all of their second chance points would go for not as Cousins, Durant, Bell, and Jerebko, played strong defense under the rim. Cousins trailed Steven Adams by one board, collecting fourteen on the night.

Steph, Klay, and Durant, put up twenty plus, in the victory, with Klay leading the charge at twenty four. Though he struggled somewhat in the early goings, he found his touch in the mid-range game through the second half as Golden State outscored the Thunder in the fourth quarter, twenty six to nineteen. "We showed we are capable of playing the defensive game, as well", said Stephen Curry, following the win. "They're a top defensive team right now with a lot of pieces that can lead them to a high seed for the playoffs. We need to win out, I'm not interested in facing them in the early goings."

The Warriors officially handed Oklahoma City their first loss on the year, but the tough stretch is only off to the start as Golden State will host the 5-2 Rockets on the 19th.
