Magic drop opener to Heat 114-103
ORLANDO, Fla. -- After recovering from a tough first half in there season opener the Orlando Magic rallied to tie the score heading in the 4th quarter, but Goran Dragic and the Miami heat pulled away for a 114-103 win.

Dragic finished with 28 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds and Dwyane Wade added 19 points off the bench.

"This hurts," Magic coach Steve Clifford said. "Our guys played their hearts out, played with great effort. I felt like they deserved to win, but you've got to get stops down the stretch and we weren't able to do that."

Evan Fournier led the Magic with 24 points, Aaron Gordon added 19 and Nikola Vucevic started his season with a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds.

While Orlando took the loss in the game the Miami suffered a bigger loss. With 5 minutes left in 4th quarter Miami center Hassan Whiteside went down in a heap and was later diagnosed with collapsed lung, he expected to miss 2-4 weeks. Whiteside joins Justise Winslow, James Johnson, Dion Waiters, and Wayne Ellington on the Heat's injury report.

The Magic will have a chance to get their first win of the season Friday night as they host the Charlotte Hornets.

Hornets top Magic 120-110
ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Charlotte Hornets have owned the Orlando Magic the last three seasons and nobody is more responsible than Kemba Walker.

Walker scored 27 points hitting three of four 3-point attempts as Charlotte beat Orlando 120-110 on Friday night.

t was the Hornets' 12th straight win over the Magic.

"I'm not on the court thinking we want to keep running the streak up against Orlando, that's just not the case," Walker said. "The whole object is to win. I just want to play well and do what I need to do to win the game."

Malik Monk had 22 points off the Hornets bench and Mo Williams added 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Evan Fournier led Orlando in scoring for the 2nd straight game with a game-high 28 points, Aaron Gordon added 15 points, Nikola Vucevic grabbed his 2nd double-double of the young season with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

"To be consistent, you've got to have a way to play and play that way every night and that wasn't at all the case," Magic coach Steve Clifford said. "At halftime, I thought we had a great chance to win the game.

The Magic head out on the road for the first time this season visiting Philadelphia tomorrow night.

Struggles continue as Magic fall to 0-3

PHILADELPHIA -- Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers swept the Orlando Magic last season and with a 134-122 win Saturday night that win streak remains intact.

Simmons had 30 points and 11 assists as the Sixers remained unbeaten this season. Robert Covington hit five of seven three pointers on his way to 26 points and Joel Embiid added 21 points and 14 rebounds.

D.J. Augustine had his best game of the season for the Magic with 28 points and 9 assists.

Nikola Vucevic had rough night, he was foul trouble early and ultimately fouled out. Compounding the Magic's big-man troubles rookie Mo Bamba suffered a punctured lung and will be sidelined from two to four weeks.

Things won't get any easier for Orlando as they continue their road trip in Boston on Monday.
