The LaSalle Explorers' new head coach Bo Vandy wasted no time showing the Atlantic 10 what it could expect from his fast paced attack and relentless defense. In his first game at the helm, the Explorers scored over 90 points for the first time in several years in their win over Nicholls State.

The win was fueled in large part to a couple of runs that allowed the team to close the first half with a 14 point lead. They didn't play quite as well in the second half, but they were able to hold the lead for the rest of the game.

The Explorers were led by the lone senior on the roster in Mark Rychart. He hit on 6 of 12 three point attempts en route to scoring 24 points while hauling down five rebounds. While his performance was somewhat expected, it was the performance off the bench by John Campbell that raised eyebrows.

The true freshman was one heck of a sixth man, scoring 15 points. Despite that scoring, he was also just 3 for 14 from beyond the 3-point arc.

"He took a few too many bad shots, but he knows he's supposed to be putting up shots" Vandy said after the win. The LaSalle coach has said that Campbell is one of those players that could see more playing time moving forward as he showed the kind of take charge attitude he needs in this offense.

Next up for the Explorers is a slightly better quality of opponent in the Central Michigan Chippewas.
