The first "Battle of LA" is in the books and it was the Los Angeles Lakers that came out victorious in the first round. Like the Los Angeles Clippers, the Lakers shot poorly from the field. Power forward Anthony Davis, despite recording a double-double, shot 33 percent from the floor and went 1-for-7 from deep. As a team, the Lakers were 8-of-36 from 3-point range.

The Clippers didn't do any better shooting from beyond the arc either. Forward Kawhi Leonard and guard Louis Williams were a combined 2-for-11 on their 3-point shots. It didn't help the Clippers' struggling offense that forward/center Montrezl Harrell had to leave the game in the first quarter due to injury.

Harrell out for about two weeks with toe injury

LOS ANGELES, CA -- On top of losing their first game of the season, the Los Angeles Clippers were dealt another blow. In the first quarter of the game against the Los Angeles Lakers Clippers' big man Montrezl Harrell injured his left foot. After the game, Clippers' head coach Doc Rivers shared that it was a toe injury.

The injury itself isn't serious and Harrell is expected to recover in about two weeks. With forward Paul George already sidelined because of offseason shoulder surgery, this means the Clippers depth will be tested. Outside of center Ivica Zubac, the Clippers do not have size in the frontcourt. In the meantime, players such as forwards JaMychal Green and Patrick Patterson will be given more minutes at the five spot.

Clippers' guard Louis Williams was also injured during Tuesday's game. However, the injury is minor is Williams is expected to be ready to go for Thursday's game against the Golden State Warriors.

76ers take control in overtime; hand Celtics first loss of season

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The Boston Celtics were fortunate this matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers went into overtime. With 3.3 seconds left in the game, 76ers guard Josh Richardson ran to the right corner off a screen set by forward Tobias Harris. With a wide open look and time counting down, Richardson took the shot. The ball rolled around the rim and spun out and Celtics forward Jayson Tatum quickly grabbed the rebound as time expired in the fourth quarter.

The Philadelphia 76ers got into the paint with ease. Forwards Tobias Harris and Mike Scott are shown converting an easy layup and a dunk.

However, once the extra frame began, it was clear the 76ers were more determined and focused. The Celtics shot 3-of-13 from the floor and were unable to finish at the rim. Even wide open shots found a way to catch iron instead of falling through the net. On the other hand, the 76ers made the most of their opportunities.

76ers center Joel Embiid commiting one of his two flagrant fouls.

The 76ers shot 70 percent from the floor and they outscored the Celtics 18-7 during the final period. Philadelphia managed to do this without their All-Star center Joel Embiid who was ejected after picking up a second flagrant foul. Celtics guard Kemba Walker, who finished with a game-high 29 points to go with six assists, drew the foul on Embiid.

Active Hands
Veteran big man Al Horford and rookie guard Matisse Thybulle had a combined nine steals on the night. The 76ers made the Celtics pay for their mistakes as they scored 18 points off of the Celtics' 14 turnovers. Thybulle wasn't mistake-free himself as he had five turnovers of his own in his NBA debut.

Nothing Free
The 76ers had a rough night at the free throw line, making 15 of their 25 attempts. Last season, the 76ers made 77.1 percent of their free throw shots, good for 16th in the NBA.

Walk This Way
All-Star point guard Walker looked mostly good in his first game with the Celtics. As mentioned, Walker had a game-high 29 points. The only downside to his performance were the four turnovers.

The Denver Nuggets got some payback against the team that eliminated them from the Western Conference Semifinals. With a near triple-double Nuggets' center Nikola Jokic fuel his team to a blowout win. Despite the high score, the Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers did not score a single fast break point.

Despite the Trail Blazers having fewer turnovers than their opponent, they lost the battle in other crucial areas. The Trail Blazers grabbed 16 fewer boards than the Nuggets and their bench was outscored 63-46. Rebounding was not an issue for center Hassan Whiteside who had a 17 point, 13 rebound double-double. However, no other Trail Blazers player had more than five rebounds in the game.
