Re: Time to Finish the Job - Miami Heat Franchise

Heat Dominate Grizzles 115-90

Bam Adebayo stuffed the stat sheet on Sunday

Miami - Bam Adebayo once again led the Heat, with a big time all-around performance including a game high 20 points as Miami downed the Memphis Grizzles 115-90 on Sunday. In addition to his scoring Bam was all over the court on with 10 rebounds, 5 blocks, 4 assists, and 3 steals in the game, filling up the stat sheet in an efficient 29 minutes for the Heat big man. After a back and forth first quarter, the Miami defense clamped down in the second, outscoring Memphis 34-12, and getting out to a big halftime lead, that they never came close to squandering. Miami will get a couple days to rest before their first road trip of the season, a back-to-back tilt in Milwaukee, and Minnesota that starts on Wednesday.

1 (1) Los Angeles Lakers2-0The defending champs start off strong with two wins.
2 (6) Miami Heat2-0Miami is out to prove last year was far from a fluke with two straight wins.
3 (10) Portland Trailblazers2-0Damian Lillard looks to have gone up another level for the Blazers.
4 (14) Brooklyn Nets2-0Kyrie has started out slow, and the Nets won't have KD for a few weeks, but the surrounding cast looks improved.
5 (20) Phoenix Suns2-0The Booker/CP3 combo looks to be clicking early in the desert.
6 (11) Utah Jazz2-0The Jazz spent a fortune on the Mitchell/Gobert combo, so far so good.
7 (18) Detroit Pistons2-1The Pistons got a lot of criticism in the offseason, but the early season results have been promising.
8 (24) Orlando Magic1-0Impressive start for the Magic this week.
9 (26) New Orleans Pelicans2-0Zion and Ingram look impressive early. Can the Pelicans make a leap out west?
10 (30) Charlotte Hornets1-1The Hornets look good early, and LaMelo may be the real deal.
11 (2) Boston Celtics1-0Tough to get a gague early, but they blew out the 76ers in their only game.
12 (3) San Antonio Spurs1-1Another year for Popovich and the Spurs. It looks like they'll be tough for any team to matchup with.
13 (22) New York Knicks1-0Who knows if it will hold up, but the Knicks had an impressive opener, and Obi Toppin has fans excited in New York.
14 (7) Milwaukee Bucks2-0The Bucks look to make another run at the best record in the league.

18 (8) Houston Rockets1-1It's well known that James Harden is unhappy, but him and Wall have played well together early.
19 (17) Los Angeles Clippers1-2After an ugly exit for the bubble it's been a rough start for the Clippers.
20 (4) Golden State Warriors0-1The Klay injury is devastating for sure. Can Curry carry this team to the playoffs?
21 (27) Cleveland Cavaliers0-2The Cavs will be around this lower third mark for the whole season.

23 (19) Oklahoma City Thunder0-2OKC has a chance to be in the #1 pick race based on early looks
24 (21) Indiana Pacers0-2Rough start for the Pacers after getting swept out of the bubble.
25 (9) Chicago Bulls0-2Doesn't look like the Bulls are getting any better. How long does LaVine last?
26 (29) Minnesota Timberwolves0-2If D'Angelo and KAT don't start getting results, one or both could be on the move.
27 (28) Memphis Grizzlies0-2Tough start for the Grizzles, who most think will be in playoff contention.
28 (5) Philadelphia 76ers0-2Yikes a rough start for the Daryl Morey era in Philly. How long before one of the two starts gets dangled in rumors?

Re: Time to Finish the Job - Miami Heat Franchise

Matchup Preview @ Milwaukee Bucks

Milwaukee - It's a rematch of the biggest upset of the playoff bubble when the Miami Heat take on two-time defending league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, and the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night. The number one seed Bucks were stunned by the Heat in last years conference semi-finals when they got out to a commanding 3-0 series lead, and closed it out in five games. In fact the Heat dominated the entire season series against Milwaukee, going 5-2 against them, and seemed to be the kryptonite for the number one team in the league. Revenge will no doubt be on the minds of the Bucks in this one as they now get the benefit of getting the Heat in their home arena. Tip off is at 7:00 PM local time from the Fiserv Forum.

Game of the Night

The Toronto Raptors used an early season match-up on the road in Boston to show that they aren't ready to disappear from the top of the East contenders race. Pascal Siakam scored 37 points, and Norman Powell followed up with 30 of his own as the Raptors knocked off the Boston Celtics 135-128.

Re: Time to Finish the Job - Miami Heat Franchise

79 FOR GIANNIS

Two-Time MVP Has Game for the Ages as Bucks Hold Off Miami

Giannis scored the fourth most points in a single game in NBA history

Milwaukee - Giannis Antetokounmpo spent the short off-season mulling over what could have been. After his second MVP season, and another #1 seed in the playoffs, Milwaukee was bounced out early by the Miami Heat. Then came all the rumors that those same Heat were positioning themselves for a run at Giannis in the summer of 2021. Those rumors were put to bed when Giannis re-upped with Milwaukee before the start of the season for 5 years. His mission after signing was to atone for last season's loss to the Heat. On Wednesday he did just that. The Greek Freak played all 48 minutes, and seemed determined to destroy the Heat all by himself, Taking 47 shots, and going to the line another 22 times. The result was an astounding 79 point effort, and a win for the Milwaukee Bucks to move to 3-0. It was a game we haven't seen in the league since the late great Kobe Bryant dropped 81 on Toronto in 2006. That was a depleted Lakers squad however that needed Kobe to take as many shots as possible. This was seemingly more of a statement for Giannis, who sent a clear message to the league that he is out for revenge, and good luck to anyone in his path.

Re: Time to Finish the Job - Miami Heat Franchise

Heat Fall to T-Wolves 122-113

D'Angelo Russell scored 42 points on the Heat Thursday night.

Miami - Following a tough loss the night before in Milwaukee the Miami Heat were right back in action on Thursday night. The Heat came out a little lethargic in their first back to back of the season, and a late push in the fourth could not overcome D'Angelo Russell's big night from three as Minnesota got their first win of the season 122-113. Russell shot 5-6 from downtown, finishing with 42 points to lead the Wolves, while Karl-Anthony Towns put up a monster 29-19 effort as well. Miami elected to sit Jimmy Butler for this one. Erik Spoelstra called it a precaution for a sore knee, and not a load management scenario, but none the less it forced some younger guys into the lineup. One plus on the night was Bam Adebayo, who seemed to have no issues carrying the load offensively, scoring a career high 33 points in the loss. Bam is averaging 24.8 points through the first four games of this season, and if the Heat have unlocked another level for him offensively to go along with his already stellar defense it is going to be a nightmare for teams out East, and beyond going forward.

Re: Time to Finish the Job - Miami Heat Franchise

Matchup Preview vs. Atlanta Hawks

Miami - After a disappointing road back-to-back the Miami Heat return to American Airlines arena for a quick home-at-home with the Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta overhauled their roster perhaps more than anybody in the quick offseason, and the results thus far are promising as they are out to a quick 3-1 start. The Heat meanwhile came off two close losses on their first road trip of the season, and will definitely be looking to get right against their divisional foes. Game tips off at 7:30 PM local time at the AAA.

Game of the Night

Zion Williamson had 32 points, and Brandon Ingram chipped in 28 as the upstart Pelicans moved to 4-1 on the year with a 130-109 beat down of the Golden State Warriors. While New Orleans is trending up, the Warriors are not heading in the right direction post Klay Thompson as they have started out 0-3 in what looks like a tough Western Conference this season.

Bucks Suffer Setback

The Milwaukee Bucks have cruised out of the gates to a 4-0 start, but now will face their first significant setback of the year as center Brook Lopez will be out two-four weeks with a fractured left hand. In the same game starting guard Jrue Holiday left with a high ankle sprain that could sideline him a number of games as well. The depth of the Bucks will be tested early now as they try to get back to that #1 seed in the playoffs.

Re: Time to Finish the Job - Miami Heat Franchise

Heat Drop Third Straight

Miami - Trae Young scored 30 points, and the Atlanta Hawks sliced and diced the Miami defense all night long as they cruised to a 122-102 win on Friday. The loss was Miami's third in a row after a 2-0 start, and while head coach Erik Spoelstra was far from in panic mode. He iterated that there needs to be a sense of urgency going forward. "Last year is over, we're not in the bubble anymore. We can't rest on our laurels now. Teams are coming after us." were the coaches remarks after the game. After a hot start to the season Bam Adebayo was relatively quiet in this one with just 10 points, and 7 rebounds. Jimmy Butler led the Heat with 26. Miami will get a shot at revenge right away as they head north to take on the Hawks again, this time in Atlanta on Monday.

Re: Time to Finish the Job - Miami Heat Franchise

Matchup Preview @ Atlanta Hawks

Atlanta - The Miami Heat are looking to bounce back from their first home loss of the season when they take on the team that knocked them off, the Atlanta Hawks, on Monday night. After a nice start Miami has struggled losing three in a row, and the team looked lifeless on defense stopping the Hawks from scoring. Erik Spoelstra tried an abundance of different lineup combinations late in that game, and may have a different group starting this one as they try to slow down Trae Young, and the rest of the Hawks. Expect Avery Bradley to see some time as a solution to trying to get in front of the Hawks point guard. The Heat will need a better game from Bam Adebayo as well in this one as he was shut down by the Atlanta front court on Saturday.

ESPN.com Power Rankings
RK (LW)TeamRecordAnalysis
1 (14) Milwaukee Bucks5-0The Bucks are back to their old regular season tricks as they have already raced to the best record in the league.
2 (3) Portland Trailblazers5-1Portland looks to be the real deal since their bubble performance. Lillard is launching himself into MVP consideration.
3 (4) Brooklyn Nets3-2Some injury questions already for the Nets, but the pieces looked good together when healthy.
4 (15) Atlanta Hawks4-1The new look roster is passing all the tests so far.
5 (9) New Orleans Pelicans4-1Zion already looks to be taking a leap, and has figured out how to mesh with Ingram. The young Pels are scary.
6 (1) Los Angeles Lakers4-1Slight set back to Memphis, but the defending champs look good.
7 (18) Houston Rockets3-2Harden, and Wall look good together. Houston may want to think twice about blowing this up.
8 (5) Phoenix Suns4-2Chris Paul seems to be doing wonders for the Suns early on. This looks like a playoff team out west.
9 (27) Memphis Grizzlies3-2Memphis is finding their footing after an 0-2 start. Huge win over the Lakers for this young squad.
10 (8) Orlando Magic3-1Orlando looks sharp early on despite the season ending injury to Isaac.
11 (17) Denver Nuggets3-2Jokic has been steady, but Jamal Murray has been unable to consistently find his bubble form as of yet.
12 (7) Detroit Pistons3-3Detroit has fallen back to earth a bit after their torrid start.
13 (10) Charlotte Hornets2-4Terry Rozier is playing like someone seemingly offended the organization drafted his "replacement".
14 (11) Boston Celtics2-2Nothing particularly exciting about Boston's first few games. Treading water until Kemba can come back.
15 (2) Miami Heat2-3Three straight losses after an 2-0 start. The long bubble run may be hurting Miami's stamina here early.
16 (13) New York Knicks2-3Are the Knicks going to surprise some folks this season? If this Mitchell Robinson jump holds the answer may be yes.
17 (16) Toronto Raptors4-2The Raptors are just plugging away under Nick Nurse. They aren't going anywhere.
18 (6) Utah Jazz3-3Mediocre start for two players who just got the max. Utah needs to find something here.
19 (19) Los Angeles Clippers2-4It's way too early for panic time, but the Clippers better get over this bubble hangover fast before they lose too much ground out west.
20 (23) Oklahoma City Thunder2-4Some good, some bad for the young Thunder.
21 (12) San Antonio Spurs1-3It may be two straight years of no playoffs. Something once thought unheard of for a Popovich coached team.
22 (26) Minnesota Timberwolves2-3Nice bounce back after the 0-3 start.
23 (24) Indiana Pacers3-2Another team that bounced back after a slow start. Indiana now can make the climb in the East.
24 (30) Sacramento Kings3-3Sacramento might have something here. De'Aaron Fox appears to be ascending. They may compete for a playoff spot out west.
25 (22) Washington Wizards3-2Beal, and Westbrook are finding their footing together. The East is suddenly competitive however.
26 (29) Dallas Mavericks1-4Much needed win for the Mavericks. If Luka want's to be talked about as one of the elite in the game this team needs to start playing better with or without Kristaps.
27 (21) Cleveland Cavaliers1-4Got that first W albeit against what looks like a dumpster fire of a Bulls team.
28 (20) Golden State Warriors1-3Yes Klay is out, but it's not going to be good for Steph's legacy if the Warriors are this bad with him on the court.
29 (28) Philadelphia 76ers0-5An absolute disaster start in Philadelphia, and now Embiid is missing time again. Morey won't stay stagnant much longer.
30 (25) Chicago Bulls0-6The early leader in the clubhouse for the #1 lottery position. There are no signs the Bulls are going to be getting any better than what we're seeing right now.
