Re: NBA 2K - Georgiafan's 3 year realistic rebuilds / remasters

Vet C & 2 Way Spot Added

Even after the draft day trade which saw Memphis lose two players from the roster last year plus a draft pick. They still had 14 guys on the roster so they didn't have to add anyone to the roster. They also had 8 million in cap space with the clear last spot needing to be a defense minded true C.

They signed the perfect fit in Willie Cauley Stein a 29 year old that spent the last few years in Dallas who didn't need him after signing Drummond. He does that man things Memphis needs which is rebound and defend. He is also a really good athlete especially for someone 7'0 and 240 pounds. His 85 speed is well over the league average for the position which is 50. His speed should be a great fit with the increased pace. He is also a dunker his vertical and 99 standing dunk gives them something they don't really have. That should come in handy as he sets screen for Ja.

Memphis also got him for 4 million dollars rolling over 4 million incase any trades need to be made during the year. He isn't expected to get big minutes this year unless a injury happens.

Willie Guerrero was a unknown when he was added to the summer league roster. He had the big game against Utah in the summer league playoffs and also played well in two more during the qualifying games. So it comes as no surprise he got a 2 way deal joining Killian Tillie. He wasn't drafted in this past draft and is 23 now.

Willie has some skill as a 6'7 SG that has the speed to playing PG just not the passing skills. He is a pretty well rounded prospect for a 2 way player being able to score inside and from mid range and isn't a terrible 3 point shooter. His defense is also not embarrassing he just struggles with intangibles. He is athletic supporting a 91 vertical and will dunk on you.

Re: NBA 2K - Georgiafan's 3 year realistic rebuilds / remasters

2022 G Preview

The G spot for Memphis is the most crowded, most confusing and also the most fun. If your looking for a potential spot to make a major move its the SG spot.

Ja increased his scoring last year to 22 and added 8 assist. This year he is aiming for 25 and 10 and to make the all star team. His 3 point shooting was a issue last year shooting 29% on 6 attempts. He has improved his shoot in practice and wants to shoot mid 30's this year. He will be backed up by the exciting speedster rookie Gheorge Stefan who since the picture has improved his playmaking.

De'Anthony Melton is a unique player on the team he doesn't have a offense game and is clearly the best perimeter defender on the team. If Ja isn't going to shoot better it becomes tricky to play them together. He can also play PG as well if the rookie struggles or someone gets hurt. If your just going back overall grades he should get the start at SG.

You also have two 3 point specialist John Konchar and Grayson Allen. Despite improving more then anyone on the roster Allen has lost his spot and will be inactive to start the year. He shoot just 33% from 3 last year he is better this year so maybe that will improve if he can find a few minutes. He is making 4 million on the final year of his contract so can easily be traded. Konchar has simply shoot better then him despite his per 36 scoring only being 10 per game. He shoot 42% from 3 last year and 48% in the summer league.

The wildcard of the bunch is Desmond Bane who wasn't all that impressive in summer league. He still has a bunch of untapped potential so one theory is just give him a bunch of minutes as the starting 2 and see if he sinks or swims. While he only scored 11 per game per 36 minutes last year. He ended up shooting well 37% from 3 which is good considering his awful struggles the first month of the year. He is the most balanced of the options at 2 guard.

2022 F Preview

The F position should be much improved this year with the addition of sharpshooting 2nd pick Chris Mullin. He will have a lot of pressure on him to be the #2 scorer and outplay Karl Malone and Joe Dumars. He looked great in summer league and expectations are he will score around 20 a game and shoot 40% from 3.

The addition of Mullin also pushes Dillon Brooks to the bench and strengthens the 2nd unit. Dillon will see some time at the 2 and could start if need be. For now they are going to have be the scorer on the 2nd unit mostly at the 3. This will allow a offense threat to be on the floor even without Ja and Chris. Dillon was solid last year at 14.2 a game on 39% from 3 in 28 minutes.

You also have a pair of veteran do it all players in Justice Winslow and Kyle Anderson. Winslow is a player Memphis has invested a lot in they just picked up his 13 million dollar option. His biggest issue the last few years is staying healthy. Kyle is a guy that surprisingly improved a lot last year. Even though it seems like he has been around forever he is only 28. Neither one is going to score a lot, but they can defend, rebound and play smart basketball. They are both capable of playing the 3 or the 4.

All of the guys outside of Mullin could be traded if need be as they are all on good contracts.

Re: NBA 2K - Georgiafan's 3 year realistic rebuilds / remasters

2022 Big Preview

Its more of the same for this spot as Clarke, JJJ and Jonas will all return and all get 30ish minutes a game. WCS will be depth while Justice Winslow and Kyle Anderson will also see some time at the 4. Its doubtful Jontay Porter will get any meaningful minutes this year outside of garbage time.

Clarke played well last year his per 36 stats were 21 & 12 on 54% from the field and 36% from 3. His rebounding, post defense continues to improve and grade out in the B range while being athletic. He continued to play well this past summer and is the favorite to start at the 4.

This is a big year for JJJ he was part of the reason they passed up Karl Malone. He struggled last and his rebounding continues to be a big issue. He can defend and score both inside and from deep. The new look pace and space offense should be a good fit with him. They greatly need him to be able to play some 5 in small ball lineups.

Jonas is a solid starting veteran C that at 29 is still in his prime and continues to improve. This past year he averaged 13 & 11 in 29 minutes. He has improved his rebounding since the start of last year and is now A+ in that area. They want to give him more touches in the post this year as he has A+ inside scoring.

Nicely set up for a move mid season, but don't pull the trigger too quick, I like how this roster is shaping up already! Another shooter will help!

Yea I can easily make a big move if need be the 30 million of expiring contracts and both 1st round picks would get me in the conversation with about anyone. If never liked taking the easy way and just throwing all that into a trade for a Beal or something.

I would love to find a SG that's like A+ perimeter defense and B+ shooting. The key person on my roster is Desmond Bane if he plays well that makes Dillon Brooks tradable and I could give Konchar minutes who is a lights out shooter. Bane has the shooting just needs to improve his defense.

I like this roster so we will just have to see how the first few months play out.
